I have some reality check. First of all, it is a closed system and it is not supposed to lose AHC fluid. It means that you have a leak. The most likely place is rusted pipes under the car that go along the frame. When mine were rusted I had to drain the system, cut the rusted pipe and solder a new piece of pipe in using a blow torch and Muggy Weld silver solder SSF-6. It was a major PIA but the repair has been holding for more than 4 years already. I decided to repair it rather than replacing it with simple shocks as I really liked the Lexus ride quality. As a maintenance item, especially if you drive on salty roads in winter, keep your hydraulic lines underneath well lubricated to prevent rusting and to avoid future trouble.
Very nice ride! Good deal also. I serviced my ahc system and the fluid was also low. What happened was that the accumulator globes needed to be replaced. The membranes of the globes were torn and the globes filled with the fluid. So, if you notice that you have a pretty bumpy ride, most likely the accumulator globes need to be replaced.
I'm really excited for you! That is a great find. I'm so glad that a guy that appreciates these vehicles got it. You will keep it nice and catch up all of the maintenance. Does my heart good to see you got such a.nice truck. I don't suppose you would share the price you paid would you?
@@MJAltairy there's one near me for 3k CAD 350km. The seller doesn't seem to know much about it, it just says not certified, runs and drives, suspension rust/hydraulic leak. I'm assuming there's an issue with the AHC, and he just doesn't know or doesn't want to bother fixing it.
Hey mate.. Thanks for the info.. I've got an LX470 1998.. Like to know whats the best tier size.. Most efficient.. Cos I heard that big wheels kinda Increase Fuel consumption. Any advice please..? Thanks in advance.
Seriously great trucks. Over engineered in every aspect. Every part is made to last 25 years in 3rd world country, bad roads, and bad gas. Just FYI high setting is meant for slow speeds. As you speed up to driving speeds it will automatically return to “N”
I’ve been nothing but impressed with this thing since i picked it up. I’ve literally been driving it daily over my 16 RAM and fall in love with it everytime i take it for a drive.
@@MJAltairy I've got a GX470 and a first gen sequoia, looking for one of these currently lol. I've got a thing for old Toyota SUVs and reliability is my main factor haha. After driving GMs for the first 8 years of my driving history I seriously can't recommend these vehicles enough.
Hi brother. I have one Lexus LX470 2004 But There is a problem for the hydraulic system. When I put it to the of the high level. it's cannot be to to stop the high level. Automatically goes to normal level. If you have. Solution for that one. Please tell me .
Also, I do the bleed-off from the accumulator many times. but to no avail. I feel that there is a problem with the system and I have not found a solution for it. 4:51 Didn't know they make a barking sound when starting. Really hope cars nowadays still do that.

Appreciate the kind words! And yeah I paid $8k for this bad boy!
@@MJAltairy very nice deal.
It will last longer, from this point on, than most any vehicle made new today so it's really quite a deal.

Beautiful car man Congrats!. loved the video man now i want one haha
i have a 1998, 175K. Enjoy your enthusiasm! Keep it up
I love mine. Factory AHC system and I’m running 33” General ATXs.
Do u have any scrubing?
@@BC-sr3gg none so far. I don’t rock crawl with it but I’ve had it pretty flexed and it was fine.
These SUV's were built to last 25 years. They are fabulous.
way more than that
Cool to see auto content from people I know. Keep it up Mo!
Thanks Greg! Much appreciated! Hope to see you cruising around or something this season!
Mine still works 23 yrs later 393K
Just fixed the AHC on my '98 today!
Thanks for the info....great deal
Nice video! Keep up the good work.
Careful with the Toyota fluid. Toyota had some bad batches that caused damage to AHC pumps.
How fast can you drive the LC with the suspension in low? There are many parking garages where I live wondering if it will fit
Does the AHC fluid evaporate over time? Btw a video on a fluid flush would be cool, and might be suggested if your fluid is old….
Same here
Bigger tires and non-factory wheels? Depends on your market. Do it, if you're selling to kids. Otherwise, just new tires.

Does it have enough AHC (hydraulic fluid) fluid in the system?

That's what it does it's just to help load elderly and go over high bumps. Drops to normal when you hit about 20mph
