No I was there in 1992 and returned in 2005. The Toyata War was in 1987. I have fond memories of that place and some of the people I met there. 🙂 The Chadians really pulled off an audacious series of operations against Gaddafi though in 87. Those light trucks mounted with AAA, TOWs, and other weapons could literally run circles around armor and fixed infantry elements, and were adapted by many countries as cavalry basically. The northern part of the country is quite stunning, especially the Tibesti Mountains. Unfortunately, that area is covered with areas of minefields and debris from war. In some isolated high valleys of those mountains, there were remnants and last vestiges of the times when the Sahara was green from before 5000 BCE, including flora and fauna. Sadly that's all gone now.
@@johnbarr1546 Most folks never heard of it, so I salute you. Thier raid across the border to wreck that Libyan airbase and destroy about 1 and a half billion dollars worth of fresh Soviet made aircraft was a real coup.
Are we seeing Russia would soon break holes in the front and all these units in France would need to move to Russia?
@raghardeishi972 Nope. Not going to pull any units out of France. The Colonel likes his micro-invasions and early D-Day style landings....
Were you in Chad when they used Toyota pickup trucks to drive the Libyans out of the Aouzou strip?
