The best thing that worked for me is hearing loss. It’s been a really great fix. How ever everyone else says I talk too loud and make too much noise.
Hahahahahaha Lmao.
and now every fart is an s.b.d.
this worked for me too!!
Tbh sometimes I wish I could "disable" my hearing
bruh
this is so freaking helpful. I am literally going insane, as the block I live on has become extra industrial in the last year and it's driving me nuts. I hear trucks backing up ALL DAY LONG (beep beep beep). I can't wait to build a window plug, I'm gonna probably have to do it this weekend!
Did you ever get the chance to build one? Here is a recent video where I finally build a window plug - ruclips.net/video/B5d7Vy8rYU0/видео.htmlsi=ArpsQ81A56eaTJQH
How do I know that the noise is coming through the window and not because of the wall? I have a big window on a 23cm thick external wall where I hear general traffic noises (motorcycles, buses mainly). I am planning to replace the window to the one recommended. + Is there any other brands you can recommend on for the weather strips?
Looking forward to the window plug video! Thanks for all you do!
Took me long enough. but here it is. ruclips.net/video/B5d7Vy8rYU0/видео.htmlsi=ArpsQ81A56eaTJQH
In my experience, so-called soundproofing curtains do nothing. The windows don't block low sounds, which are very prominent these days with the loud mufflers and motors, and car radios. You need the double or triple pane windows, fewer windows, and more walls.
Can industrial strength velcro be removed from the wall easily if renting?
I just moved into my new appartment, but I live nearby a noisy surrounding. So I hear the traffic like loud and clear. I work from home and have meetings and phone calls on a regular basis. Does dry wall help?
Did you find a solution to this ?
Looking forward to the DIY window plugs. Indow costs way too much for me and I really wanted to start recording some videos.
Likewise. Did this video ever get made? 2 years ago in the video "Soundproofing Windows - What Works What Doesn't" he mentioned it was coming in a couple of weeks, went through the whole next 2 years of videos but couldn't find it anywhere.

Q: Sound deadening curtains, using two
If earth magnets were strategically sewn into the two curtains to overlap the curtains at the center opening, how effective would they be?
Just curious. I do this with blackout curtains for keeping the heat or air conditioning localized to the cab of my class-C RV while traveling. The center opening makes it easier to get from the cab to the coach.
It sure would be nice to have some sound dampening too.
I live in a rented apartment that has double pane glass windows. The problem is the traffic noise gets horrible at night, the double pane glass can only block about 15 dB of noise at max. I want a further reduction of these low frequency traffic noises (zooming vehicles, engine noise, tyre noise, etc.) by atleast 7-10 dB. I am ready to spend money but I am not allowed to replace windows. I am confused whether acoustic curtains or an acrylic window insert would make any difference.
i am in the same situation. did you resolve this issue?
Thanks for this. Which sound-deadening curtains do you recommend?
I've got a lot of corrigated cardboard left over from furniture packaging. I was thinking about doing work and just building a panel full of that cardboard in layers, encased in fabric that I can plug into the windows, but make it a slight bit too large so it makes a tight seal in the window port. Is that a good way to do it?
Thank you for the tip about Velcro tip for installation of window curtains will make sure to use that
What is the best acoustic caulk for exterior windows
Just wanted to add a small correction. The description has "neighbors" spelled incorrectly.
Should be a quick fix, thanks!
Fixed! Thanks 😊
Hi,
I desperately need advice on making a window plug. I'm trying to soundproof the bedroom window from the noisy street (traffic noise). I've done everything I could with the original window (just regular new double glazing), but the improvement is not sufficient. My plan is to combine a sound insulating board and an absorptive material, but I'm not sure what to use specifically, as I'm getting conflicting information everywhere. I'm considering using Comformat Titan and applying a foam made from pressed polyurethane with a density of 80 kg/m³ and a thickness of 5 cm on it.
I also thought about using a 1 cm thick MDF board and gluing it together with that polyurethane foam, or covering it with 1 cm mass loaded vinyl. I have a budget of 600 euros for one window of 3 m², but I can allocate more if necessary. Will any of these solutions work? Or what other materials should I use? I am open to any suggestion. Is Rw38 db of Comformat Titan even enough? If everything goes as planned, I would be more than happy to document the process for anyone interested.
Best regards from Prague,
Ron

Whats the rule of thumb with sound? If I can hear them clearly from inside, are they able to hear me from inside?

how would you DIY such a thing...
Just moved into a rental house that's very close to the street. It was just remodeled with brand new windows. I need to do something quick as I work from home & the street noise is interfering with my calls😔
exactly the same problem for me! did you find a solution!
@CrazyKrazyMind Yes! Broke the lease with permission from the landlord and moved back to our former rental house in the country. Fk city life, it ain't for me!!🤣🤣🤣

I certainly did! Took me long enough lol Here's the link - ruclips.net/video/B5d7Vy8rYU0/видео.htmlsi=ArpsQ81A56eaTJQH
Some people do own apartments....you shouldn't presume people just rent them.
The biggest difference between a condo and an apartment is ownership. An apartment is defined as a residence that is rented, often as part of a larger residential building. A condo can be similar in structure to an apartment - usually a unit within a larger residential building - but condos are owned instead of rented. If you “own” an apartment, then it’s not an apartment. But heck, where you’re from it probably is. Thanks for commenting.
i appreciate the information. You can further improve your future videos by practicing using fewer words as to increase the information density.
We need this cause we're being invaded with idiots and there loud car noise cause they need so much attention

Here it is, Better late than never - ruclips.net/video/B5d7Vy8rYU0/видео.htmlsi=ArpsQ81A56eaTJQH
I'm thinking about making a window plug. 5/8" drywall has fiberglass in it. I was thinking of building a frame of 1x2" lumber and using double layers of 5/8" on both sides of it with maybe some kind of insulation in the middle. Weatherstripping around the frame and handles just like your video shows. It would be pretty heavy and might be overkill, so I was hoping to find a video where someone had built something similar.
This is the north-facing window of my music studio. It has three panes and I've caulked around it, but cold air still gets in during a windy winter day/night and it's literally ten feet from my neighbor's backyard. They have a pit bull that barks so loud you can hear the glass vibrate. It rings like a bell. Pretty tired of it.

@soundproofguide I'd gathered up materials, but my friend had something of a nervous breakdown so I made him one instead. Next month I'm repainting my bedrooms and I'll do it then. The one I made works super well. I used double layers of 5/8" on the outside, a single layer on the interior side, and just filled the inside with regular pink insulation.
Great video. What type of insulation would you use for a window plug?
Rockwool! Also mass loaded vinyl on each sides.
@@soundproofguide thank you! So, inside the wooden frame it would be drywall, mlv, rockwool, mlv, drywall?

So as far as a pressure fit window panel costing $1k, since they work by creating an air pocket to eat the noise, would double sided tape and a heat shrink plastic insulation sheet work the same way?
Have you tried the solution you have asked about? I'm curious to know your results.
Why would you assume people don't own their own apartment?
Because their not apartments where I’m from if you own them, they’re condos.
Dont be a dick, he’s helping everybody
The best thing I found is earplug 😂
I have a noisy gutter pipe dripping outside my bedroom window as I type this comment. I don’t want to have to wear earplugs to sleep in my own home (apartment). They’re not comfortable and I don’t like wearing them.
They started construction of a new apartment building right outside my apartment block, they work from 8am - 6pm and I work from home 😭 Idk what I'm looking for but I need something because I can't do this for the next few months
That’s unfortunate… construction noise is difficult to block when living in an apartment since you can’t make any alterations.
Also, a lot of construction noise is low frequency sound that probably makes the walls shake a bit? If that’s the case it needs to be decoupled which would be a cost to the landlord.
At least the construction noise should be temporary. Maybe try earplugs in the meantime if you’re not required to be on a call…Best of luck!

get a good pair of noise canceling headphones
The person said they work from home which means they may be having conversations with customers.some people are working from home by computer. So ear plugs won't help them
Many people work from home now. I think ear plugs isn't the help the person needs. I work from home I need to talk to clients that ear plug suggestion. Isn't what the person seems to be asking
I am also having the same problem. I want to block the sound. I live in ground floor so the noises are very loud

hello i am building a window insert...I already build the frame. and i stuff with Rock wool insulation. However, I use the the vapor barrier to wrap the outside not fabric..
And i dont think my acoustic panel help alot.. is it because i need to use farbic to wrap outside??nor vapor barrier. because the window insert wont be able to absorb the sound,if i use the vapor barrier to wrap the frame.. like i see in your video you mention dont put the foil facing the window, otherwise it will deflect the sound..
And i still dont get it. how come such a thin plastic can deflect the sound???wont the sound just penetrate the plastic/foil and get absorb by the rock wool inside eventually, remember the sound can penetrate my window tho..
Lastly, Since changing the cover to fabric is so important, Can i just change the cover which facing the window only, so the sound can pass through from the window and leave the side with vapor barrier which facing the room
