  • I get asked all the time how to I use a different cable in my Ridgid K9-204 Flexshaft machine. The process is really simple. Either you can solder the end on or crimp it on. I personally prefer crimping because i believe the heat from soldering will damage the cable. I also prefer the flexshaft cable from www.plumber-tools.com because it is stronger and cheaper than the cable from Ridgid. Nothing against Ridgid's cable, i just prefer these ones.
I bought the cables from www.plumber-tools.com
I bought the crimping tool from eBay
I bought the ends from The Cable Center.

Before you put the cable in and crimped it did you solder the two layers together?

Cheapest place I found was my local ace hardware. They basically need to be ordered cuz nobody is going to have those on hand.
The part numbers are 65868 for 5/16 and 65863 for 1/4

Hi tony thanks for all the great info on the ridgid flex shaft ones from other company’s. You do a great job showing and explaining which helps all of us lean and put it to use. I have to replace the coupling on my flex shaft as it split all the way down the crop end but i am not able to find the connector online. I wasn’t able to see the part numbers on the ones you show in the video so I can have it for my files. I looked at the cable center online products with search but nothing came up. I haven’t called then yet to talk to a representative but I may do that this week. Maybe you can do a follow up video for those adapter connection parts. Thanks

Hi there, I’m not sure if you’re looking for the coupling for the 204 or the 102 but the part number for the 204 coupling is 65868 and the part number for the 102 is 65863. I’m not sure on the size of the dies for the crimping tool off hand but I bought a cheap one off eBay for like $40 that had a bunch of different sizes and it had the correct sizes with it
