    I think this kind of concept could only be done pre-Force Awakens, before Disney began to canonize specific parts of Star Wars to make the new films and to make the canon connection to Galaxies Edge. Also Star Wars was still classic sci-fi in the 80's and 90's so it would have worked alongside Alien encounter and a monorail. It wouldn't make thematic sense to have a people mover above Oga's Cantina now.

    Something needs to be done with Tomorrowland, for sure. But I’m so happy they didn’t turn it into LucasLand or Star Wars Land. I’m still very much against that Disney decided to place Galaxy’s Edge inside Disneyland, instead of within California Adventure.
    I’ve always felt that Disneyland Paris’ Discoveryland - with a steampunk inspired and Victorian view of the future - would be the most timless and interesting version of Tomorrowland. Unfortunately that land has basically turned into Star Wars/Marvel Land.

      The original plans for Tomorrowland 2055 would have brought the more timeless Discoveryland style to Disneyland Tomorrowland, it's a shame they were shelved and Tomorrowland just keeps losing more and more of its identity! - Luke

    I like your idea, make Tomorrowland look like a timeless futuristic city, and the story should be about humans living in a world with, no poverty, no wars, no hunger. The land should tell a story about how humans living for self improvement rather than materialistic things, etc. I know this sounds kind of like Star Trek, but it's a universal idea, really.

    A more recent project that never happened was a 3rd gate for Disneyland and 5th gate for DisneyWorld, for a whole theme park based on Star Wars, built in the South West parking-lot for Disneyland (and god only knows where at DisneyWorld). While I have no idea what the details are, I can only imagine what we could have gotten was better then Galaxy's Edge, which is extremely underwhelming, and frankly would probably disappoint even if the 3rd ride and dinner and show experience where kept as originally planned.

    • @srayj
      @srayj 4 года назад +1

      Zontar I haven’t had the chance to go to Galaxy’s Edge, so I can’t speak to how good or bad it is, but my guess is the reason that they didn’t make separate gates entirely dedicated to Star Wars is because it eliminates brand crossover, meaning less money overall. What I mean by that is if there are Star Wars fans who don’t care about Disney, why would they pay to go to the second and third gate if they could just pay to go to the Star Wars park and conversely, those of us who are Disney fans who wouldn’t care about Star Wars, why would we want to go to that third gate? By having the Star Wars themed land and attractions in the already existing parks, they are more likely to get all fans to visit all parts of the park, including those that wouldn’t normally appeal to certain demographics.

    • @ZontarDow
      @ZontarDow 4 года назад +1

      @@srayj Disney's parks have a serious problem when it comes to attendance, quite frankly a 3rd gate at Disneyland and a 5th gate at DisneyWorld is long overdue.

    • @fifthrider

      @@ZontarDow I've visited both Galaxy's Edge in Orlando and Anaheim. You are correct. The casual viewer will look around and say "It's not true, this place has people!" but they don't understand that it's vastly under attendance projections. People stayed out at first because of the expectation of overcrowding, then word got out that it was basically a big money-grab mall with only one ride and that diminished interest, then the land tried to tie itself more with the recent trilogy of movies which are divisive at best, polarizing at worst. I've seen it. I don't need to go again.

    .Disneyland has Star Tours, Star Wars: Launch Bay, the short film Path of the Jedi, and Star Trader (primarily a Star Wars gift shop). Disneyland, in addition to those, had Hyperspace Mountain and Jedi Academy. All but Jedi Academy was still running full swing when Galaxy’s Edge opened. We had a "Lucas Port" at Disneyland for many years. It is being called "Tomorrowland." Nothing like the cool concept of this video.

      Hey Evan, the information within the video is from a few places - Firstly all the concept art and pictures of the model comes from the Van Eatons Gallery auction " A History of Disneyland & Walt Disney World" Lot number 771 (Though the listing incorectly mentions that the designs were for the Westcot plans even though they were clearly designed for Tomorrowland). From there I was able to find further information in a Disney and More article, as well as from Forums, Online posts and getting in contact with some of my sources at the park.
