    If you apply aloe Vera to your scalp and leave it on for like an hour then wash out it makes your hair really soft and helps with hair growth!

      IF YOU SOAK THE GEL IN WATER IT TAKES THE BITTER AWAY .
      THE BITTER IS A YELLOW LOOKING CHEMICAL IN THE ALOE;
      THEY SAY ITS GOOD FOR LAXATIVE.
      SOAKING TAKES THE CHEMICAL OFF ALOT.

    I *love* aloe vera! Is it safe to use the ones that grow in your garden (those small ones)? I heard that those ones aren't safe to consume.. Not sure if it's true at all.

    • @elagale
      @elagale  10 лет назад +20

      I am not sure about poisonous aloe plants - but i do know that consuming the whole leaf instead of just the gel can sometimes irritate peoples digestive system and causes a laxative effect. The worst thing i think is people confusing aloe for other succulents because they can look kind of similar XX

      Serafina ♡ There are only 5 varieties of aloe that can be taken inside. While there are over 200 species. Also extremely important not to use anything but the gel - because it has aloin.

    • @EverythingEverywable
      @EverythingEverywable 9 лет назад +3

      Serafina ♡ its not nessarily the size. If the leaf is concave then it will taste more bitter, so its more suitable for tropical use. If the leaf is convex it will be less bitter.

      Do the aloe in your yard have white spots? The ones that are just plane gren leaves are aloe. However, before eating it you might want to look it up online or ask someone.

  • @jackie552
    @jackie552 8 лет назад +13

    Love your video. Just an FYI- your aloe may taste bitter b/c you are eating concave aloe leaves, rather than convex aloe leaves that are very plump and full. Apparently when they are convex and plump, this is a sign that they are ready to be eaten.

    Love your video, you put across the info so well :) For newbies to aloe vera I just wanted to mention that only 4 aloe types have the healing properties (aloe barbanensis miller is best) and make sure you avoid the yellow latex layer, only use the clear gel :)

  • @tamarquaye

    Thanks for all of this info! I wouldn't recommend adding sugar as an exfoliant though. Sugar granules are square shaped/ not round which means its sharp corners can cause micro tears in the skin. I'd recommend maybe adding an exfoliant that has circular shaped granules. That way you can have a nice exfoliant that doesn't tear the skin!

    Hi Ela!
    I really like your videos, and I look forward to studying and learning more about my baby aloe vera plant that I bought a few months ago. It looks very green and healthy. It is currently about one third the size of the aloe you showed and used for your demonstrations (your aloe looks so lush and healthy, I want one like that!!), and it is a baby (I'm not sure how old it is, it is probably half a year old or something). I've heard that it is too young to use yet, but when will I know if it is old enough for me to use it and get all the benefits? I love aloe vera, and I'm thinking of getting another one in the future. It's the first succulent plant that is thriving in my care! Great thanks for you video! It was very educational!
    I think it might take a very, very long time before it will be as grand and big as yours! (like a few years)
    Thanks,
    Grace

    I used an aloe Vera plant on a horrible burn I got that hurt so much without constantly running it under cold water or having a cold compress on it, I cut open an aloe leaf and taped it to my burn and slept like that. Was the only thing that stopped it from hurting a ton and by the time I woke up, my burn was practically healed. It wasn't 100% cuz it was still sensitive to heat but I did not get a scar and I am forever a fan of aloe Vera plants ❤️

    I did want to mention that, although aloe has a ton of vitamins and minerals, the level of vitamin B12 content in aloe is debated. Some sites say yes, lots of it, and others say no, none. On some other video the man's clearly warned us to soak the aloe Vera leaves plants in water for some time until a yellow type color shows. He says that it is irritant that should not be indigested. You didn't mention anything about that additional cleansing procedure your after cutting the gel off the leave to use for topical use or ingestion. I use the gel straight from the leave to rebound skin your rotations like you mentioned different parts of my body and never see anything negative happen. I've never really taken any orally. Usually when I look at a topic or discussion I'd like to get 3 different views from 3 different people with different backgrounds. Thanks for your contribution😊

    I use aloe vera for my face and body but the most amazing thing that I've just started using for cracked heels is, very old fashioned vasaline, in the pot/tub. I smear it on most mornings before I go to the gym, put my socks on and I've used it for less than two weeks, my heals are looking fantastic. I'm in my late 50's and I know as we get older the cracked heels gets worse, I've used many products spesifically for heels, they work just a little to make you go back and buy more but it was my husband who tried it first and omg amazing results. His heels were quite bad, I've even used a pumice stone on him to try and help. Don't know whey he tried it on his heels but the results start happening after a few days. I will always do this every day after my shower. Love the vid but wanted to share this with you all. Just try it.

      Hey love! I am obsessed with making my own makeup - and yes its waaay cheaper, but the problem can be buying the initial ingredients (which once you have you can make over and over), and as +CleanEcoStyle said its harder to make them all (for instance liquid foundation i havnt yet done but i am going to play around and figure that out, if i do i will share it will you!). I use my homemade powders and blush etc in summer, but in winter i often use bought natural/ cruelty free cosmetics that have a little more coverage. The 'organic wear' line by physicians formula is pretty good :)

    I just bought a small aloe plant how often do you water them and can you have them in the sun.?

  • @ArmyofRadishes

    Got my first aloe vera plant, so excited to use it! But your poor plant! all those babies(the smaller ones at the bottom of the pot) are going to kill(drain) your main plant! You usually want to cut and re-pot the babies to get more aloe plants. I can only imagine how tight it must be for all those roots >.

    Just found this channel/video. .. Hopefully I get answered... If you make too much or bulk of the different items can you refrigerate for the normal "all natural home remedies/natural ingredients" life- span of all natural concoctions, toss out after 24-48 hours at the most shelf life since there aren't any preservatives like for most homemade remedies? Is it 24 or 48 hours for the scrubs, pitcher of the juice mix 24hrs like root teas, etc?

    I learnt so much here about aloe vera gel. I didn't know it was a plant source of vitamin b12.

      ***** Yeah, I did more reading on it. I think it's better to supplement/inject, and check blood levels to be safe.

    I’ve heard it has poisons you need to rinse off before using. I’ve never tried it raw but now I’m not afraid to as you seem alive and very knowledgeable

      andra white that's because after when it's completely dry stretch out your face by making faces for a few minutes and it won't be dry anymore It was also like that for me but do that and wait a few minutes
