I love aloe vera when I use to live in the islands I used it quite often. For my hair skin and to drink also...veryyyy bitter though ..lol. I need to start using again but I realized the ones I buy from the store here in America is not as bitter as the ones back home in Jamaica....tfs
Thats interesting, I have this weird rule of thumb that the more bitter something is the better it is for you haha but thats probably just a strange misconception
IF YOU SOAK THE GEL IN WATER IT TAKES THE BITTER AWAY . THE BITTER IS A YELLOW LOOKING CHEMICAL IN THE ALOE; THEY SAY ITS GOOD FOR LAXATIVE. SOAKING TAKES THE CHEMICAL OFF ALOT. :)
I had stomach problems for a while similar to irritable bowel. That’s when I noticed I was craving to eat aloe. I was delighted to find Alevera juice at the local big lots store. It helped me a lot
I had to watch this because my baby aloe vera plant got a big piece broken off so now I'm sitting with aloe all over my face and hair and I'll eat some when I get the courage! thank you!!
I *love* aloe vera! Is it safe to use the ones that grow in your garden (those small ones)? I heard that those ones aren't safe to consume.. Not sure if it's true at all.
I am not sure about poisonous aloe plants - but i do know that consuming the whole leaf instead of just the gel can sometimes irritate peoples digestive system and causes a laxative effect. The worst thing i think is people confusing aloe for other succulents because they can look kind of similar XX
Serafina ♡ There are only 5 varieties of aloe that can be taken inside. While there are over 200 species. Also extremely important not to use anything but the gel - because it has aloin.
Serafina ♡ its not nessarily the size. If the leaf is concave then it will taste more bitter, so its more suitable for tropical use. If the leaf is convex it will be less bitter.
Do the aloe in your yard have white spots? The ones that are just plane gren leaves are aloe. However, before eating it you might want to look it up online or ask someone.
Love your video. Just an FYI- your aloe may taste bitter b/c you are eating concave aloe leaves, rather than convex aloe leaves that are very plump and full. Apparently when they are convex and plump, this is a sign that they are ready to be eaten.
I use aloe Vera for soothing cut and graze pains and I also use it after shaving my legs to help reduce ingrown hairs! I never new you could eat the stuff thought! I'm going to try it out soon. Thanks💗
For some reason I have never noticed the smell, but the one thing for me that i dont like is when i apply it to my face and lick my lips later without noticing and freak out because of the bitter taste haha! Its definitely a great healer
You could take the gel from the leaves then put it in a ice cube tray, then before you go to the beach put the ice cube tray in the cooler, then if someone gets a sunburn you pop the aloe vera cubes out and rub it on the sunburn and it feels good since it is frozen
Love your video, you put across the info so well :) For newbies to aloe vera I just wanted to mention that only 4 aloe types have the healing properties (aloe barbanensis miller is best) and make sure you avoid the yellow latex layer, only use the clear gel :)
Thanks for all of this info! I wouldn't recommend adding sugar as an exfoliant though. Sugar granules are square shaped/ not round which means its sharp corners can cause micro tears in the skin. I'd recommend maybe adding an exfoliant that has circular shaped granules. That way you can have a nice exfoliant that doesn't tear the skin!
I have used it for burns, dog wounds, acne, hair gel. Also mix 50/50 with Now shea butter or argan oil for face or eye cream. Thank You Creator for making Aloe Vera
@audrey h it tastes good right after soaking? I’ve been harvesting and consuming aloe vera for a year now, but after soaking it, it never tastes good, it just tastes like nothing until you eat/drink/prepare it with something.
Hi Ela! I really like your videos, and I look forward to studying and learning more about my baby aloe vera plant that I bought a few months ago. It looks very green and healthy. It is currently about one third the size of the aloe you showed and used for your demonstrations (your aloe looks so lush and healthy, I want one like that!!), and it is a baby (I'm not sure how old it is, it is probably half a year old or something). I've heard that it is too young to use yet, but when will I know if it is old enough for me to use it and get all the benefits? I love aloe vera, and I'm thinking of getting another one in the future. It's the first succulent plant that is thriving in my care! Great thanks for you video! It was very educational! I think it might take a very, very long time before it will be as grand and big as yours! (like a few years) Thanks, Grace
I used an aloe Vera plant on a horrible burn I got that hurt so much without constantly running it under cold water or having a cold compress on it, I cut open an aloe leaf and taped it to my burn and slept like that. Was the only thing that stopped it from hurting a ton and by the time I woke up, my burn was practically healed. It wasn't 100% cuz it was still sensitive to heat but I did not get a scar and I am forever a fan of aloe Vera plants ❤️
Love your video. The reason it is bitter may be because the yellow liquid is not being drained from the fresh plant, before cutting up. This yellow substance may be used as a laxative.
I love your channel you look so passionate by what you're saying and for me this video was very useful I bought an aloe vera plant 2 month ago and there's only 9 leaves ^^ I didn't know how to do with it but now I know
Thanks love! I really like dark lips, but i think i ate something just before filming this and should have re-applied my lippy (it looks a bit worn off or something) XX
This was a great video! When I was in preschool, there was an entire aloe Vera plant for me because I got sunburned so often. It was pretty funny. Do you think you could do a video on hangnails/proper nail care? Thanks and ily!! Xx
Aw that is so cute haha! I can definitely do a video on how i care for my nails :) Hangnails are so annoying arn't they!- but I am actually not super knowledgeable on what causes them, although i do think it's dietary and in the past rubbing vitamin e oil on them has helped them disappear
Thanks for this video, I'll defiantly try out some of the things you talked about with the new aloe vera I received today! I did want to mention that, although aloe has a ton of vitamins and minerals, the level of vitamin B12 content in aloe is debated. Some sites say yes, lots of it, and others say no, none. Still others say there is some... Do you have a reference you trust for vitamin content that I could check out?
Now I really want to own an aloe vera plant, haha! Too bad it's winter here in Canada atm. Thanks for the informative video - I never knew aloe vera had a bunch of uses. :)
On some other video the man's clearly warned us to soak the aloe Vera leaves plants in water for some time until a yellow type color shows. He says that it is irritant that should not be indigested. I have an aloe vera plant) it's up to my hip) that's growing out of control. Also baby plants keep sprouting. So this is a great way not to let it all go to waste.
My dad uses it for cuts and you can eat it to only the clear stuf not the slime my cousin puts it on at night and it makes your skin so soft and it helps it to
Question. Do you make your own makeup and such? I've seen some of your makeup DIYs and they're really cool but do you do that for all your makeup? Is it cheaper? I'm always looking for cheaper, more natural tips and ideas. I love makeup but, being a teen, I don't have much money to buy it and I don't really like asking people for it. Hey Ela, If I have just organic Aloe gel that is not straight from the plant, would that work just as well folr a body srub if I place it all in a small bowl??? Thank you Emily
Just checking out channels to see who is doing vlogmas this year? I am going to be doing it for the first time this year on my second channel and I am so excited!!
Got my first aloe vera plant, so excited to use it! But your poor plant! all those babies(the smaller ones at the bottom of the pot) are going to kill(drain) your main plant! You usually want to cut and re-pot the babies to get more aloe plants. I can only imagine how tight it must be for all those roots >.
hey, if its no trouble, do you think that you could do a video like this for coconut oil?? I have heaps that I don't know what to do with... thanks :P XxX
Just found this channel/video. .. Hopefully I get answered... If you make too much or bulk of the different items can you refrigerate for the normal "all natural home remedies/natural ingredients" life- span of all natural concoctions, toss out after 24-48 hours at the most shelf life since there aren't any preservatives like for most homemade remedies? Is it 24 or 48 hours for the scrubs, pitcher of the juice mix 24hrs like root teas, etc?
I’ve heard it has poisons you need to rinse off before using. I’ve never tried it raw but now I’m not afraid to as you seem alive and very knowledgeable
andra white that's because after when it's completely dry stretch out your face by making faces for a few minutes and it won't be dry anymore It was also like that for me but do that and wait a few minutes
great video . i have like 20 aloe plants and i tend to use them because i have 2 cats that like to play with there little claws so they get thete use out witch is fine
Great presentation and info. I watched a few other channels with similar content but ended up frustrated with the lack of good info and communication skills. Yours is the best I have seen thus far, maybe I am just biased being a Kiwi from S.I.
If you apply aloe Vera to your scalp and leave it on for like an hour then wash out it makes your hair really soft and helps with hair growth!
And with dandruff! Thanks for sharing that hun
***** do you do it as a daily thing or once a month??
Amani Perrin I'd do it as often as you can. With my practice and experience I learned natural needs repetition patience and consistency.

Who knew this big spikey plant could do so much! Thanks for the tips this is going to help me a lot I only thought it was for sunburns.

Wow did not know you could digest this stuff!! Love this stuff
a variety of giant aloe grows here in Cambodia - half a kilo each - I eat it like a steak - haven't eaten meat in 30 years

How?? Its so bitter! I heard bitter things are good for us but aloe is hard for me.

is there a limit to how much aloe vera you can swallow as a "supplement" ?
I love it! I love how you rather go organic and all the DIY remedies! I tool love the idea of just growing stuff in the garden and using them as skin care products or medicine 😊 subsribed to you!
how often do you use it on your skin and hair? once, twice a week? a month?
Who would have thought skincare could be so easy!
Hi Ela, I found u topics very interesting. I will try some of ur remedies.
Do u hv one for hair loss?
I made a Rosemary leave in spray, would you recommend putting aloe in it or leave it as is and use the aloe alone?

hi that sounds so interesting and so good I will try cause I always like trying out new things
awesome tips !!!!!!!
want more videos like this
I just bought a small aloe plant how often do you water them and can you have them in the sun.?

Heard you can regrow a new plant from potting up just one leaf ! Now this reminds me.....
What about the yellow sap?..I heard its toxic...do you soak it first Before using any of it?
How long can we keep it in fridge (for winter)? And have you try with acne scar or on active acne ? Thanks
hey, if its no trouble, do you think that you could do a video like this for coconut oil?? I have heaps that I don't know what to do with... thanks :P XxX

I learnt so much here about aloe vera gel. I didn't know it was a plant source of vitamin b12.
***** Yeah, I did more reading on it. I think it's better to supplement/inject, and check blood levels to be safe.
I’ve heard it has poisons you need to rinse off before using. I’ve never tried it raw but now I’m not afraid to as you seem alive and very knowledgeable
How do you protect your garden against the cold weather?
I am having scalp issues do to the cold winter, will aloe vera gel help with dandruff?
Thank you so much for this information very amazing tips.god bless you
Thank you very much for these useful tips!
I'm wondering how to plant an aloe Vera. :(
When I applied it to my face it actually felt super dry after.?? Gonna try again though.
yah me 2
andra white that's because after when it's completely dry stretch out your face by making faces for a few minutes and it won't be dry anymore It was also like that for me but do that and wait a few minutes
andra white did you rinse it off after letting it sit for awhile. That may help
emily_brandy no, I'll definitely try that though. I really want this to work for me so I'm gonna give it a shot! Thanks
andra white you rinse and put a moisturizer after.

Great presentation and info. I watched a few other channels with similar content but ended up frustrated with the lack of good info and communication skills. Yours is the best I have seen thus far, maybe I am just biased being a Kiwi from S.I.
