One of the most experimental singers died before the world could really take in his music. The internet is an amazing place for reliving the great moments created by Arthur Russell and his music. RIP.

That's true, the internet can be a lovely place sometimes. I was watching a Nick Mulvey interview and he said Arthur Russel was a reference. His music is just amazing and I want to watch his documentary now.
I mean Arthur had been working in the scene for over a decade and had tons of releases and adoring fans
@@theactorjohnlarroquette this is true, but imo his music was absolutely foundation shaking and if he had more time with us, perhaps the foundations would've been shaken. Alas, we cannot wish for such things now. Only make peace with the pieces.

@@trentfairtbf the first two thirds is mostly him vamping on Soon-To-Be Innocent Fun, he does something similar on Terrace Of Unintelligibility so it's clearly an intentional device; the whole of the videos is like a river of fragments of song turned over in a current of pure sound.
he plays a lot of songs, quoting the melodies and lyrics... for example in 21:34 he's singing the boy with a smile/by the moon
