Scotch Pie is usually a 50/50 mix of Beef and Lamb mince, couple of spices all inside a hot water pastry. YT channel What's For Tea does a lovely one you can try yourself.
Scotch is ground pork with spices. Wasn't alive during the 66 world cup (only34) but we still hate yous for it as everytine there is a world cup on all the build up before matches is 66 this 66 that and it just pisses us off
10:41 No idea, I was born in 2001 but I think it was some Old Testament, real wrath of God type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes…The dead rising from the grave. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.
Been waiting on this one to see your reaction to Sylvester McCoy appearing, another great episode . I'm looking forward to you trying to rank all these , i'll need to make my own ranking for comparison. No spoiler but a young David Tennant appears in Rab C Nisbet as Davina the cross dressing bar man .
Born and raised here in Edinburgh, I was 7 years old in 1966. I have no recollection of the Scottish jealousy and angered frenzy (that, to an extent, still seems to go on occasionally to this day) of the time. Nowadays, there is (sometimes) a degree (albeit small) of tongue-in-cheek antipathy. I was never a football fan so I couldn’t care less either way 🤷♂
@@BlueShadow777 aw you're lovely and if you think that's criticism I'd have been aswell removing the emoji and lol as i was trying to ensure that wasn't the way it was received clearly I failed sorry. I genuinely cannot believe you think the anti English in sport rightly or wrongly is small
Born in 1991 so I've got not recollection of 66, at best I care nothing of it, they won so good for them... What annoys us are the pundits who don't shut up about it, next time you watch the world cup & they mention 66 take a drink.
I’m almost fifty, so I was born just over a decade after the ‘66 World Cup. As a Scot, I’d say that I couldn’t care less that England won the World Cup but there are irritations around the fact. English fans when slagging off the Scottish national squad (whilst expecting that Scotland supporters should support them) seem to disregard the fact that the first international game England played after the World Cup was against Scotland at Wembley. Where Scotland had a spectacular win. The whole ‘football’s coming home’ thing is a load of nonsense as well. The modern game of football has more to thank Scotland for than it does England (there is a BBC documentary hosted by Dougray Scott, that lays out Scotland’s contribution to the modern game…which includes such basic concepts as passing the ball which England didn’t do). Scotch Pies, also known as Mutton Pies, Shell Pies and in the area a grew up, Aulds Pies (after the bakery chain Aulds where most people got them), are a very thin hot water pastry crust filled with moistened minced meat and spices such as ground coriander, ground pepper and mace…I think there may be some suet mixed through the meat too to ensure it’s moisture retention, as even though there is no gravy in the pie it could still be called juicy (if that makes sense) and generally if you’re having a hot Scotch Pie whilst out and about, there will be some greasy juices that end up dripping down your chin. I’ve not had a proper one since around ‘89 when I gave up meat but there is an online company (I think it’s called the Scotch Pie Company or something like that), that sells a pie kit where you get either 6 or 12 pie shells along with a spice mix and instructions to make the filling and the pie lids. The do two different sizes of the pie shells the standard Scotch Pie size and a smaller size that in Scottish bakeries are generally used to make fruit (normally apple but sometimes rhubarb and maybe with a layer of custard) pies. They’re definitely worth checking out. They aren’t particularly cheap (but then small companies generally aren’t) but they are decent and once you’ve made the pies you can freeze them.
I live in Glasgow, and at least 60% of my pals are Kent and Essex folk who moved here years ago, The whole England vs Scotland football stuff is just good hearted banter here, and anyone who takes it seriously is an idiot. The only true hate here is the Rangers v Celtic thing, and it's embarrassing.
Scotch pie, thin and crispy pastry with minced mutton/lamb and white pepper! I always ruin comedy with reality! 😂. 40years would have been social money from before decimalisation then however many note changes across the years. Could he have spent it?
So I was born in 2001 my mums final scan with me was on the day of 9/11 then when I was born in December I came out weighing 9lbs 11oz. How's that for tragic irony?

It’s a matter of experience. Your experience suggests ‘not small’, my experience suggests ‘small’. Finished with your criticism?
