Hi! I was curious to see what kind of content you have on your channel. And I gotta say, good job! I really like this! I actually became interested of this instrument because I've got couple of ample products (those freebies). With their guitars making slides is uncomfortable and complicated, is it any better with this? And do this instrument work with key switches?
Thanks! I guess it's just something to get used to. I've been using the guitars a lot and after the initial hurdle I think everything works pretty logically. You can't really do slides with the guzheng but there are glissandos that are basically slow strums. Again I like the way the instrument works but there's a learning curve. It has keyswitches for the different articulations and even a mode where each string gets assigned to adjacent white keys of the piano, making the instrument lock into the authentic pentatonic scale. I used that mode in the video, that was the only reason I was able to play it on my 32 key keyboard in the first place
@@Tremendouz Yeah I said it a bit wrong, guzheng certainly doesn't have option of slides, it's more like bending notes by pressing the strings. So it really doesn't simulate that in way or function? (Other than that strumming) It does sound interesting though.
@@Tremendouz Oh... Ok then :D Thanks. Btw since you use virtual instruments are you interested in bowed strings at any level? I just thought cos I've done few compositions for cello so far. Spitfire audio solo strings, I highly recommend those, they are really nice.
@@Tremendouz i've been listening to this track more recently and damn it reminds me of my cousins playing lmao. absolutely stunning although she did mention how it as a bit mindless at some parts lmao
@@snesmocha Glad to hear it still makes an impact. I think it turned out pretty well. The mindless thing is probably because it was improvized on keyboard and I'm not a keyboard player haha (of course I edited it afterwards)
Thank you! I'm 100% self-taught. Using the MIDI editor of a DAW is pretty straightforward, it's mostly just drawing notes and MIDI CC curves for things like vibrato. Keyswitches (notes placed outside of the playable range of the instrument to swap between the different articulations like sustain and tremolo. It's sometimes a lot of work but it's not difficult per se. The difficult part is using all these things to create a performance that makes sense and sounds natural. Things like leaving gaps for a flute player to breathe, using vibrato when it sounds natural etc. which has less to do with MIDI skills and more to do with your ear.
@@Tremendouz Self-taught for this level? You must be kidding me!! I also have taught myself for 3 years, but still haven't met this level. You must be a genius!
@@nothing7ish Haha thanks, but it's really just a matter of trial and error over the years (I've been using most of my free time in the last 5 years for music) and constantly learning something new about mixing, arranging and all that. I don't really think I'm particularly advanced, I barely know any music theory and I can't play an instrument well so I'm mostly just piecing my music together bit by bit in the MIDI editor
@@Tremendouz Trial and error for 5 years...I still need 2 more years to reach that. lol Trust me. You are definitely an advanced one. I've been looked up all of the midi composers on RUclips, and found you are the best so far.
@@xezerik62 The default locations should work. By the way, with the iLok-authorized plugins I recommend to NOT open the DAW before you have activated the plugins in the iLok License Manager. If you do that, they don't appear in the VST list, at least that's what happened in Reaper.
Also, make sure to run both the Library installer (this installs the sample content and is larger in file size) and the other installer that installs the actual VST plugin.
Sounds beautiful ! ♥
Thank you! It's a very inspiring instrument and the pentatonic mode is like training wheels for my non-existent keyboard skills haha
On my list. So good so touching.
Glad you like it!
Awesome!
Thank you!
Amazing!
Thanks!

Damn you’ve uploaded a lot recently
Indeed. The album track that was already finished plus these three demos and of course the April Fools masterpiece.

Thank you!

is this ample one better than waves audio or soniccouture?
I haven't used those but this one is very good and has lots of articulations and mic positions

Are you sure you're not paying someone to play the real one?
I'm pretty sure, unless last night was just a dream
