I still love these type of knickers. They were popular in the 60s and 70s. Then they became known as big knickers and went out of fashion, but you still get someone like me who has never lost interest in them. I still have fond memories for what was popular and fashionable when I was a teenager.😊
@@joannemcmillan9201 They are called granny 👵 panties in the British Isles too, but I have never liked that name, bearing in mind I am well old enough to be a 👴 grandfather, and countless people my age will be grandparents. Granny and granddad are names which sound old. Most of us fear growing old almost as much as we 😰 fear 💀 death. I am at least pleased three people kindly gave my comment about liking big knickers the 👍 thumbs up sign.
@@joannemcmillan9201 When I was a teenager and a young man I was very keen on patterned Y Fronts. Men of all ages wore Y Fronts. In the mid 80s boxer 🩳 shorts caught on and Y Fronts went out of fashion as if they had never been popular. People then thought only older men wore Y Fronts.
Thanks so much! It's so hard to find high-waist patterns, especially with inclusive size ranges! I do have tips from my hard-earned knit experience ;) If you're struggling with starting a seam (feed dogs eating fabric), you can 1) pull a bit of thread tail from the bobbin, as opposed to starting with the bit left after the auto-cutter does its job. Hold the thread tails, and pull lightly as you start the seam. 2) if #1 doesn't do the job, try using strips of tissue paper, tear-away stabilizer, or water-soluble stabilizer under your project, laying on the feed dogs. Cut an extra 3 cm length, the stabilizer strip is longer than your intended seam. 3) if your machine still kicks up (I've only had this happen with the thinnest knit and mesh), you could also try doing a stabilizer sandwich, putting strips both top and bottom. Happy Sewing!
UNDER THE PROJECT! Okay. I know what I did wrong now. lol Thank you for the tips! There is nothing I hate more than fighting my machine for my fabric back and bringing out the seam ripper.
I love how you are so thorough in explaining how to make panties and your gift of the pattern. This is just a wonderful teaching video. If I may say, I would appreciate either no music or turning it down very, very low. I found myself stopping the video to adjust the volume so many times, it took away the joy of learning. You have a very soft, sweet voice and I didn't want to miss a word of your instruction, but then, the blaring music would start and startle me! It actually hurt my ears and I had to turn it down. Again, thank you for this opportunity to see how to make "me made" panties and for the generous use of your pattern.
I am so sorry, I just rewatched your video using this link - ruclips.net/video/8EvZEJNgspk/видео.html and the volume was perfect! Thank you so much. It is so much more enjoyable being able to just watch and absorb your information. Again, thank you for the free pattern too. You have a new subscriber!! ♥
Hi Lila, Thank you for the kind words and yes I created a new version after popular request. You're so very welcome and I hope you have fun making your own undies! Thank you for following! :)
Thank you for the great pattern. Being a long time panty wearer (male) I much appreciate the high waist. I used nylon tricot (a bit harder to work with but feels wonderful). Full bum and a roomy front, what else could a fellow ask for? This pattern makes a panty for all day, all night, and playtime too ! Thanks again !
Seriously, I think you should do a video short wearing these. Why not? You have done a couple of other video shorts of yourself in your homemade knickers, and they are very 👍 nice.🎉
Hi, I think your pattern and video are amazing. Just to let you know - I did comment yesterday and applied for your patttern but there appears to be a problem - because sadly my comment did not appear, neither has the pattern . . .
Fabulous tutorial thank you, I’m not sure I’d like the side seams effectively ‘raw’, would it still work if I were to sew up each layer of the side seams together separately & then join the two layers up just by the elasticated edges ? (Hope that makes sense)
Good information. If I may make a suggestion, your voice is quite low volume, but the music you added is quite loud. I wear headphones while watching so I had a few painful blasts to my ears and had to adjust the volume up and down throughout the video. Perhaps if you give it a listen before posting, you can modulate the audio.
I would also like to encourage content creators to consider leaving background music out entirely. I wear bluetooth hearing aids and too much coming directly into my head gives my brain too much to process and I end up with a headache. I'm okay with just simple instructions and the sound of the sewing machine.
I’m sorry to hear the music was too loud for you. When I edited the video this wasn’t the case on my laptop, In fact I thought it would be too quiet as I am sensitive to loud sounds. And even after watching on my laptop after the upload I still don’t have a problem, I think it’s different computers put out sound differently. I can’t delete the video now, so the only thing I can do is upload again and have a double video with no music. Would that be better?
@@sewprojects471 Thank you for the tutorial it is really good, very well done but I agree that the music is too loud. I have to have the volume up to hear your voice but then the music really blasts out. I'd rather silence, personally, the walls in my flat are paper thin and if I listen late at night, the neighbour can hear. I do appreciate the tutorial though.
@@tinawebley3985 thank you so much for commenting and I'm glad you enjoyed the tutorial. I will be uploading a new version with softer music in the next few days! Stay tuned!
You did I wonderful job with these panties? And I'm going to make them today. I always wanted to make my own panties, but I don't like bikini style panties because I am a larger girl. What is the name of your fabric you use?
Hi Zelda, thank you so much! Ahh amazing! Hope they go well. They sound perfect for you! The patterned fabric is a stretch mesh. You can see the fabric info in the description. :) (But it may not be available to buy anymore.)
The pattern will show the size chart for what size you need. If your waist is a different size to hips then you can grade the sizes via the method here - ruclips.net/video/iHOTOnNpH-k/видео.html

Hi there, yes with the right fabric. It needs to be a fabric that has a strong stretch retention. But that depends on how much support you are looking for too.
That music is a real issue. It near deafened me on several occasions as your voice was very low so had to turn up volume, then got blasted by the incredibly loud background music which was a huge amount higher. Really spoilt the video sadly.
