When I tell you that this is exactly what I am going through!!!!!! I am in the process of becoming a doula (looking for an organization to certify under). I aspire to become a Certified Professional Midwife in the future. I just began working a sales job because I needed the money to buy a car, pay for the course, and the certification. I am not happy at all with the job because the schedules are all over the place and it is very physically and mentally exhausting. I can't really quit because then I won't have the finances to pay for the course and my other bills. I feel so stuck but I know I have to keep going because I have a goal to get to. Watching this video is so INSPIRING. It gave me the push and the affirmation that everything is going to fall into place. I am also in my spiritual journey so it feels like everything is going too fast lol. I am so happy I found your channel!!!
You sound just like me…I HATED the jobs I’ve been doing and I told myself I will not do them forever, in 2020/2021 I had an epiphany and said I needed to find a job where it is going to make me happy. I found out about doulas and fell in love. I always was interested in births and pregnancy just like you. I would watch Secret Life of an American Teenager, Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant, I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant, and even recently UnExpected and recently I was watching Unexpected and my boyfriend was asking me questions and I was able to answer it just based off on the little school I’ve had so far as being a doula and the shows and books I’ve read and even my own pregnancy. My goal is to be certified by the end of the year and have my doula business started. Keep on doing what you’re doing and I can’t wait to join the doula journey.

I came across this video at the perfect time… I wanted to be a pediatrician growing up then it switched to wanting to be a midwife also! I’d tell people that and they’re like, “you wanna be a mistress?” Like huh??? OMG. 😂 but I definitely understand when you spoke about working non-related jobs just to make income. And of course we have bills to pay but I’ve come to the point where I only want a job that I truly enjoy! Every job has pros and cons but I don’t care as long as this is what I’m destined for. I’m super proud of you! We went to the same HS LOL, we didn’t communicate but I love to see another woman achieve her dream! 💕 congratulations on your business!
It’s a HUGE sign that I seen your video. I relaying soo much from the early interest, to the thinking about being, for me, a Pediatrician, to having a long resume, to literally working at target. I got let go recently and I’ve been thinking how I want my next “job” to be in the industry so I can become the full spectrum doula I want to be. Thank you for sharing your journey. 💜

And the key you said… passion and empowerment that comes from doing what you love…. I LOVE THAT AND EMBODY THAT! Also- it takes me longer than 30 minutes to eat, Corporate America!!!!! I am saving this video for those moments when I need encouragement to keep going. I gave up on this dream 35 years ago and now I am back (a little older but much wiser).

I’m on the journey to Being a doula and eventually a CPM! I have a question thought. Work like balance is a HUGE deal for me and it sounds like it is for you too :). It is important that I can pick my kids up from school and go to their sporting events and have adequate vacation time and what not. Do you feel you have that scheduling freedom as a doula? Are vacations ever a possibility or are you constantly on call?? I need to know😅

Hi ! I share the same experience. I've always loved pregnancy and babies at an early age and I also wanted to be an OB.I am a senior in undergrad (bio major) and I have found a new interest in chiropractic medicine. I had no idea how broad it was, so I have changed my desired profession to becoming a chiropractor first, with the focus in pediatrics/pregnant moms and babies. I also want to become a doula and ultimately become a midwife- owning my own clinic/birthing center(S).I am currently struggling (a bit) to find a mentor of some kind that understands my desired professional route and that can help guide me. I am currently looking at chiropractor schools and I am looking for mentorship in a trusted doula association. -I loved hearing your story and I enjoy the similarities we share. I also love how spiritual you are, ME TOO! Please share any advice! Truly inspiring!

You can become a certified professional midwife which doesn’t require you to be a nurse.
