- Welcome back to another epic motorbike trip right here in NSW Australia. For this video I take advantage of a work trip out to Orange to tick off a ride that's been on the bucket list for a while: The Bridle Track.
It's a great track that runs along the Macquarie river climbing up towards the old Gold Rush town of Hill End.
Good job. That gives me an excellent understanding of what to expect this weekend.
Hope you enjoy the trip, it’s one of the best rides I’ve had in NSW
It was great to see the Bridle Track open again and to see it from a bikes view. It has been a long time since I was there last (45 years), and I was interested in seeing the bypass. It's great, but nothing like the old track. It was really impressive, very narrow and steep. Cheers
Thanks mate, it would have been great to see the original track.
Definitely adding this track to the To-Do list, thanks for sharing mate!
No problem 👍
Lived in Bathurst for 4 years while the road was closed. Will have to go back there now that it is reopened.
They couldn't rebuild the original route as it would have required moving half a mountain at great cost. As quickly as you moved the landslide more of the hill would have slipped to take its' place. That's why it took so long to get the road open again. (It's been more than a "few" years!) Hopefully this means Hill End is recovering economically as losing the Bridle Track massively impacted visitor numbers.
That's good to know, thanks for that.
I was also planning to go to Hill End from Orange via Long Point Rd, which crosses the Macquarie River at Long Point Crossing? I've found a few old videos that seem to show it is a rough crossing doable in a 4x4 but can't tell if it's too deep for bike.
I don't suppose you ever went that way yourself in your time in Bathurst?
@@australianadv Haven't done that one. Mostly around Sunny Corner.
Well, that is easily the best video I have seen of the Bridal Track. Great effort
Thank mate appreciate that
Nice video of great country. We lived in Bathurst for ten years, 1998 to 2008, and in our first year there we drove the Bridle Track coming home from Hill End. The sign says 4wd but we did it easily enough in our Mazda Astina. It was summer, perhaps holiday time, and there were people camping along the river in lots of places.
Also, the Royal Hotel, in recent years the worst country pub to pull up at imaginable. Poor food, lazy kitchen, and the sour-faced guy behind the bar has turned off several of my riding friends.
Also also, I ride the Tiger 900 GT PRO. Nice bikes.
Funny you should say that, there was a sour faced looking fellow floating around, but I didn’t visit the bar. The kitchen was pretty quick though
You are blessed with a wonderful country on your doorstep.Thanks.
Very true, I never take it for granted
Very nicely put together - thank you.
Many thanks!
Fantastic video. I've just explored the Orara Trail up the back of Coffs Harbour and this will be a trail on my list for sure. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, I appreciate that!
How was the Orara track? Worth a look?
@@australianadv Yes, definitely. I was surprised how few people there were around the tracks. I only saw one car and one adventure bike the whole day. Its was a Saturday. Its a beautiful hinterland.
Awesome clip. We're taking this in a few weeks and this is great vision.
Thanks mate, it's a really good ride, you're gonna love it.
You've got some great content by the way, just subbed.
as always beautiful work Manual, awesome bike awesome video
Cheers mate, appreciate that
great trail hey!
Absolutely epic. I’ll definitely be doing it again soon
Thanks for sharing. Excellent use of maps to show your ride.
Cheers mate, appreciate that
Stunning video mate
Many thanks!
Thank you, a definite must-do on my next trip east.
You should!
Nice vids mate! did that track on the long weekend and it was super slippery down the bottom. great ride though
Yeah it’s an amazing ride, one of the few rides I’m keen to do again almost immediately
Thanks for taking the time and effort to pull together a great video… cinematography was cool, as was music and commentary. You’ve got a great style…you’ll be a full time RUclipsr within a year 🙃
Cheers buddy, nice comment. I really appreciate that!
excellent video. and great work with the drone
Thank you, having fun with that drone
Did this in April. Was interesting hill climb on those pebbles.
Longer trip than sat nav says, and the causeway knocked one boot off the peg right on the Hill End side, deeper than you expect.
Also do the Ophir frequently.
They are indeed a treat. Lucky you did both!!
That Bridle Track is a dream ride, really did feel lucky doing it. Definitely have to do it again.
Great video mate, definitely looking to take my Tiger on the Bridge Track as it was closed when I went through last year.
Thanks mate, thoroughly recommend it. Great ride.
BTW, what tires did you get on your Tiger up in Dural? My TKC80s are well on their way to needing replacement, thinking about RallZ rear DV front
great ride mate, id love to do that on my vstrom xt---
Perfect ride for the vstrom, just be careful on the gravelly bits of the new section!
@@australianadv , 👍
Great 👍🏻
Thanks mate
Do you stand up at all? I'm looking at getting my first ADV bike soon and wondering how to approach it
Yeah mate, I stand up for the rough bits but really if you’re on normal terrain at a normal speed you can stay seated.
It’s a bit like riding a giant dirt bike. Helps
If you’ve got experience on a smaller bike first.
How you loving the new bike. This ride looks amazing. Are you able to share a link of the route if that is possible please.?
Sure thing mate, here's a link to the route on Gaia GPS:

@@australianadv what’s your name btw?
Do you ever feel the bike vibrating too much, especially in the grips/handle bars? If so, do anything to remedy it? Thanks
No not at all. The triple engine is not as smooth as a twin or a four, but just has a nice rumble to it.
Basically no vibration at all in the bars.
How long is it in ks Sadly, I can only manage around 150K.
At a very rough guess I would say it’s about 75 km from Bathurst to Hill End via the Bridle track. Only problem is I’m not sure how easy it is to get fuel in Hill End, you might need to go further on to find fuel.
Thinking about getting a tiger what you think?
Depends on your situation, but I like mine :-)
I’m curious, what tyres are you running on the Tiger?
Hi Darren, I'm using Continental TKC80 front and rear. Have done about 3,000km on them and they are great.
I was going to ask the same question regarding tyres. Great video, the little bit of drone footage was awesome.
At $20 for a hamburger, I reckon I'd take a few sandwiches,,, Pub food isn't what it used to be.
$20 ain’t what it used to be, that’s for sure
