et al, 😂 isn’t that how it always goes? About a year ago I was thinking of how well trained my dog was, and how well he communicated his needs to me... then it clicked. He wasn’t the only one trained. He brings the ball to me only as long as he wants to fetch it. He tells me when he wants me to let him out, or walk him. He tells me when he wants me to get up. Tells me when he wants a treat... and I do it all! 😂🤣🤣
That dog just pokes at things expecting a reaction because regardless of where it pokes sometimes it's correct and gets extra treats... Only a Border Collie would be able to communicate things like... "why did you adopt me knowing that I need a backyard to roam....I am not a cat...."

@@FermentingSmeg it's more advanced than just conditioning Another dog named Stella was taught by a speech pathologist similarly and has lots more vocabulary and expressions.
That's not true. Dogs can understand hundreds of words. They can make connections and understand short sentences. Argue if you want, but it's been proved over and over again.
@@xPRODIGYxGAMER Check out bunny on Instagram, two notable examples of her not just "pressing anything" are "dad poop went" which was situationally correct, and "help ouch paw" when she had foxtail grass stuck in her paw. My dog recognizes many words without buttons, including the usual park, walk, dinner, hungry, outside, crate, love you, sprinkler, and knows that the star trek end credits song means time for bed.
@@abendrot___8055 All of them can't be coincidental? There's thousands of videos of her accurately pressing buttons that directly correspond to what she wants or what she's thinking. How do you think dogs understand human commands? They associate words with actions, feelings, and things.
They give her something to eat when she pushes the eat button and clearly reward her appropriately in other ways for different words like 'scritches' until she associates the word with the action. Giving the dog some more credit shouldn't bruise your human ego too much.
Sorry, this is old, but I think an interesting example was the dog wanted to go to the beach, but the button for beach was broken. So instead, the dog pressed outdoor, water and play. Another example, I don't think this was in the video, was the dog pressed hurt and paw, and I'm pretty sure she had something stuck in her paw. Although, it is true, the best way to train dogs is positive reinforcement. Still, I find it fascinating. These animals are so much more complex than we give them credit for.

Its actually monitored 24/7 by a group of scientist from San Diego University, who have a research project called theycantalk on the matter if pets can communicate in ways we thought only humans can, like linking different words to a bigger sentence or talking about things not present in the room or at that specific time.
