Konkan Railway - The Electric Era | Action at Thivim

  • Action at Thivim station in North Goa on the Konkan Railway network. The Konkan Railway route has been completely electrified recently and now sees trains hauled by electric locomotives.
    As a railfan that has travelled on this route under diesel traction for decades, the sight of modern electric locos on KR is still hard to believe!

    Actually nice to see Electric Locomotives in Konkan Railways. I was waiting to see Electric Locomotives in these sections( Diesel Railfans will curse me).

    Why govt is not giving priority for doubling the konkan line. Because it could help to save time and avoid these crossings.

      Doubling of konkan railways is costly (because of challenging terrain) and economically infeasible(because of low demand). Sidings will help

      There is no place for doubling. The engineer of konkan railway said that electrification may be completed but in case of doubling it is impossible because there are somany waterfalls and also ghats, tunnels if a doubling wanted these all want to be destroyed

      Govt can think of doubling the lines wherever the land is feasible and relatively plain (or not complex) .. Example , from Udupi to Bhatkal , Pernem to Vaibhavwadi , Kumta to Karwar ..so overall atleast 200- 250 km of the lines can be doubled which can save travel time + time spent in crossing..

    DG van for AC is a bummer . Why not another pantograph at the generator van and use overhead line for ac ?

    Disel engine legacy🔥never mach electric engine one day this electric engine are also disconnected

    I remember watch Chris tarrants extreme railways about the konkan. When did the wires go up?

      Electrification has been in progress for the past 2-3 years and the entire line was electrified late last year.
