- Is it possible to recreate the “The Floor is Lava” challenge in Super Mario Maker? If we want to create a “the Floor is Lava” level in Super Mario Maker we need a couple of things. We need to find a way to test Marios vertical position in Super Mario Maker. We need to set this Super Mario Maker contraption on a timer so that the floor isn’t always lava, and we need a way to communicate this to Mario in Super Mario Maker. In this video we are going to create exactly such a the Floor is Lava Super Mario Maker level, and we will take a look on a couple of other designs where touching the floor is forbidden!

Actually, there is a way to make the floor is lava that is mega simple. go select the castle theme and there we go !

Another way would to make sure Mario is in his smallest size, and place spikes where you want the lava to be. That way, there can be lava in ANY theme!

Actually, you can also use Yoshi eggs. The eggs hatch when they come on screen, and the large eggs make the yoshis run, triggering note blocks. The only problem is if there are multiple hatched Yoshis already on screen, and the egg creates powerups.
But can you do it in 0 a presses?
I could seriously imagine Ceave becoming the Pannenkoek of Mario Maker.

Make a Floor is Lava Level in 4 weeks with this one really weird trick
Mario maker 1: Get something that counts as an entity, put it to the top or bottom of the screen, make it so that touching the floor is just enough to load the entity, connect the entity to a contraption to activate a p switch, place brick blocks up top, put munchers on them, and add safe spots for the player to land so they don’t touch the floor.
Mario maker 2: *Clear condition.*

HOLY CRAP I JUST CAME UP WITH AN IDEA TO DO FLOOR IS LAVA! You do the same thing that you did with the don’t turn around where the boo hits the p switch but you make it so you are facing away from the boo and then you put the boo further away and that sets a time for the player to jump onto a platform to get saved from the lava!
How to get REAL lava for a floor
1. Select castle theme
2. Dont make any ground
3. Think about how Ceave is running out of ideas

Mario Maker 2 allows for a neat Floor Is Lava challenge. Set the clear condition to never touch the ground after leaving it. Add vines then you got a semi-workable floor is lava challenge
Or just make rising lava

You can't do that with just spikes and stuff, so The mechanism IS usefull. WATCH THE WHOLE VIDEO

You can use that note block thing with bullet bill launchers containing shells and bullet bills to make an insane boss fight
Did you know you can make a contraption where smashing a POW block causes the floor to collapse? You probably wouldn't have a hard time thinking of how to do it, but anyway, the floor is made of brick blocks that turn into coins when a P-switch is triggered. Smashing a POW block triggers a P-switch, because there is a big muncher stacked on a small muncher, and killing the small muncher makes the big muncher fall on a P-switch.
I made a level using this (and also a one-screen puzzle that I deleted due to poor ratings):

heres the ultimate contraption for the floor is lava, make castle theme and use the rocket ( yaaaaay ) you can even do things fall into lava

Or... my idea is probably worse, but here it is:
Make spikes, and put kaizo blocks 2 blocks above (aka make sure Super/fire/lanky/propeller/cape/tanooki Mario can fit in between the spikes and blocks without having to crouch). This can also worl as placeable lava combined with a red mushroom behind spikes.
And with the clown car piloted by p switch loading trick (aka the one with bricks in a haunted house) you can just use a spring instead of the Clown Car right under the p-switch to make it faster
