He was there yup. That's really crazy bc Mos Def really was foreshadowing all of this in january/february and caught a lot of flack for it but he was right about Drake not being authentically hip hop just like DMX before him too, Common, Joe Budden, Meek Mill, Pusha T...
This is what you call unity and homage. Not all the old heads are bitter and prideful. They recognized Kendrick is carrying the torch for the west coast and they solute him accordingly. Kendrick was in tears because he worked hard to earn they respect and he loves them too. This is hip hop and I love seeing this. We can all disagree about certain things involving modern rap, but I think we all can admit Kendrick is one of few now that study, respect and love the craft of rap.
You can see the envy in "The Game", just in his body language when approaching kendrick and constantly talking and sonning him after he was passed the torch, even that hand shake was weak. Now in 2024, Kendrick is king, Drake has been slayed and The game decides to go after Ross mad late? Lame as hell.
