People say that her voice was terrible in butterfly and rainbow era i think it is her eras that showed vulnerability through her voice. Absolutely beautiful
This song is absolutely impossible I don’t know how she did this even in the studio. She’s switching registers every other word and just when you’ve blown your voice out from high belts there’s a massive key change and like I said register switches every word. It’s insane.
Trust me it’s better to sing this in studio since on studio you can have different takes and find the best version. On live, it’s only 1 take. Don’t act like she sang this on studio in just 1 take lol
Her songs and her voice are too beautiful. But when she struggles, it becomes more real and more gorgeous. Her musicality is overflowing. And her adlibs here were genius.
@@usedtobe1197 My All was actually the penultimate song recorded for the album. And it was recorded in July 1997. It was the last song Mariah and Walter did and they fell out before it was done and that's why there is no bridge for My All. They didn't write one because they never met to finish it
@@kijanayoung2000Where exactly would the bridge be in My all? like the song is already great without it and very difficult to sing, imagine with it.😮😮
@J_rob13 last song. With Butterfly the ballad. Mid 1997. Fly Away reprise was recorded before Butterfly the ballad. Even when you hear her voice on Butterfly the ballad and My All they sound similar (listen to the F5s on "For you'll NEVER be mine" in the bridge of Butterfly and cause I can't go on on My All Chorus) they sound like they were recorded within the same month. Mid 1997
This is my favourite Mariah song and I've only just discovered she performed it in Taipei, I just moved to Taiwan for uni and have been in Taipei, I didn't think big artists like Mariah came here
Idk why you said whenever you call was gonna be bad. I can hear her voice pretty well! Only hissing but I don't mind! Love this. This is one of the best ballads. Thank you!
1 of Theee most difficult songs to sing LIVE in A FULL LIVE CONCERT OF 60 MINUTES AND MORE!!!!! NOT THAT IT WAS RECORDED MANY TIMES FOR A TELEVISION 📺SHOW......💪💪💪💪bravo MC🎤🎤🎤
As man this song is still difficult to sing even lowered a whole octave. To hold an Eb4 belt which is followed by lots of shifts between E4-G#4 in head voice or belting is very challenging. Not to say that those notes are done with riffs and runs
This was a bit of a mess. She's only human - no one is perfect, but this video also makes me think that 1997 was the year she started having voice issues. 1990-1996 were the golden years vocally. And for this song in particular, Daydream Mariah would have had this song for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
She is a human being, just like anyone else. Every singer has good days and bad days. Keep in mind that the range in which this song is placed is extremely difficult to sing. If you don't believe me, try singing this song and see if you can even get past the first chorus. It takes a lot of energy, stamina, and pretty much being in perfect form - not to mention your intonation and agility has to be insanely good - so I applaud Mariah for doing this song live during a time when we know she was struggling in her life.
@@bohlalenchabeleng1370 She hasn't smoked since she was 18yo. About alcohol, I don't know for sure, I can't give an opinion. I think the nodules and her psychological state during that period were the biggest reason.

No need to wonder since it’s better to sing this on studio to perfect every note by repeating the parts she struggles with.
she doesn't switch registers - this are not registers this is just a lot of vocalizing
Ofcourse she is switching registers she’s going from a breathy falsetto to a chesty belt and back and forth.
you can clearly hear the recorded track kicking in at 3:08 and then stopping at 3:20

I just wish she recorded this this daydream era, because in studio version, it sounds like she recorded that in 1995-1996.
Provavelmente no início de 1997, uma da primeira músicas a serem gravadas juntamente com My All!

She makes her songs so difficult in the studio, forgetting she would one day have to sing it live 😂😂😂😂
😂 That's my queen
The best singer is the one who can do songs not even they can replicate 😂
Sounded like she was having an off day. Wasn’t bad, wasn’t too good either though lol.
the fact that she even admitted that. she really made it impossible to perform her songs live (in original key, that is) 😭
but that means her prime performances hold a greater value ✨
Wow! The pre recorded track at the climax sounds so obvious
It could be or probably she moved the mic far away from her mouth while hitting the high notes in the climax.

this is breathtaking.
The lower key version of this song makes me wanna cry

Why they’re laughing?
A versão de Estúdio soa como se ela cantasse em 1995 ou 1996, então gravaram antes e só lançaram em 1997
Actually no! It was recorded early 97. Nothing from the Butterfly Album was recorded before 97. The recordings were completed in July, 97.

Excessive alcohol abuse, smoking and overusing her voice. She was dealing with a bad divorce.
