+KillerByte I agree with Csirkefoga, 1000cc are too much for younger riders. I say for myself, my riding skills and style changed A LOT through the ages hahaha! I'm saying, from 18 yo to 28 yo wich is my age now.
And also, a 20 yr old is much more impulsive than a 30 yr old. I ride a Cb1000r, it's not the wildest of bikes, but believe me, it's not one to go crazy on. It will punish You hard...
You guys do a fantastic job with these reviews. Probably some of my favorite to watch! I also love having these style videos contrasting mine where I just get on it and say what I feel. Nice job Spurgeon and camera peeps!
Thanks man, we appreciate the kind words. Same goes to you. There are a lot of great bikes out there and a lot of different ways to talk about them. Keep up the good work, dude.
Agreed from a fan of both of your videos and man the int intros, music and video editing are great. 3 questions for Mr. Dunbar, what are you using as a chin mount and wide angle from your tank mount? 2 I love the music intro where did it come from? 3 why no 4k UHD?
I know the manufactures used to leave a bike for test purposes at a reduced cost to the stealerships as a standard. Bring this back. They have them for cars and trucks why not bikes? I did a demo group ride for Indian Scout and that wasn't good enough length of time for shelling out the big money on a cruiser.
i disagree with spurge's thumbs down of the aggressive styling even if i don't like the looks i always like companies to try new things and take risks. it keeps things interesting instead of the same old things and and I'm sure many will love this style
Z1000 naked is so aggressive/demon looking bike, Yamaha tried one and it all depends on the personal taste. I really love the looks of this bike. If some fz10 owner doesn't like the headlights, im happy to buy it from them and convert my 08fz6 to a naked one, with those headlights.
I had a YZF R1, bought brand new 2006... Today, I have a Triumph Speed Triple R... No Comparison... Yamaha is a fond memory... Triumph the here, the now, the forever
Stop it! Dull as ditchwater turd of a bike. Even Triumph lovers would pick the Street over the Speed every single day. You've clearly never ridden either.
Just went down to my local dealer and sat on one. It really isn't that fat, was very surprised how small it was actually. I've owned an FZ-09 since they were first released and it felt very similar, just a tad bit more beefy and really felt balanced. The only problem I have is my dealer charges almost $1000 for it being shipped to them and another near $1000 to build it. So the sticker jumps up to $14,900!!! This seemed like a great buy at $12.9 but at $14.9 I'm just not too sure.
I lived on Spain Ave right down the street from Las Maracas on the East Side. Best damn Mexican food in the city. I've spent many a late nights at 3 Crow Bar, Red Door East, and The 5 Spot. Sounds like you pegged me pretty good! I'm impressed.
+Spurgeon Dunbar Ha.... Well, this town keeps changing, most noticeably in the last few years. East Nasty is still definitely trying to do the "southerner stereotype of Seattle" thing, though. It's kind of funny, I haven't been to 3 Crow since a St. Paddy's pub crawl a few years back that left me with what may as well have been a two-day hangover. Good times.
Dammit I want this bike!! Never liked any naked bikes, but this one does it for me. Definitely love the unique look of this bike, didn't like it at first but it has grown on me.
Will buy when it hits $9,999 new in the showroom. The only FZ to not lose value like a rock has been the FZ-07, and I get the feeling this one will go the way of the 09.
Yamaha has trademarked the moniker "Tracer GT" in Europe as of 4/17. In Europe, this bike is the MT10...and one owner there deftly coined it the "Empty 10" due to the short (~135 miles) fuel range. You can try touring on that in the US, but you'd better fill your luggage with fuel bottles. Sold my FZ09, but enjoying my 17 FJ09 (~200 mile fuel range) quite a bit, especially with the Ohlins suspension I just installed. I am interested in something like an FJ10. Fill those fake scoops on the tank with gas, add a more comfy seat, keep the sporty suspension, throw in some red, white and blue paint choices (skip the blurple and dayglo wheels, please), maybe dial back (at least shorten) the bug beak, and you will have another winner. :)
We did, but it's just a written review. We probably won't do a video review on it. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/2016-suzuki-gsx-s1000-and-gsx-s1000f-first-ride
Just taken ownership of a new 2018 bike and they have changed the power mode layout and throttle delivery in the full fat mode so the big negatives from all the test ride videos out there of the 2016 bike are pretty much taken care of. One thing that hasn't changed is the plank of a seat which gets uncomfortable after 40 mins and the fuel economy, but then, who buys a bike like this for fuel economy? Not me! :)
Looks like you could actually put a slip on exhuast on this? The FZ09 has specialized slip on exhuast made for it due to its positioning under the bike and the large catalytic converter.
This bike looks fucking amazing. Only thing that gets me is the tank is too high compared to the tail, looks like its got a hunch back. Otherwise, deffo one of the best looking bikes out there
A ton of features and options that can possibly fail as the bike ages. Looks like an awesome bike and thanks for the review Revzilla, But Yamaha and any other manufacturer can keep all that fancy Electronic stuff. The only thing I would want is the Cruse Control. In my 26 years of riding experience I have never ridden a bike with Traction Control, I am curious how different it is on the track. Other than that the front of the Bike looks like a Bug just before it hits a windshield :-)
Do you add your audio in post production? - The bike is great. I had an 02. Gotta wait for the winter to thaw here in the Northeast but I look forward to seeing the bike in person at local dealers.Rode the FZ09 and liked the GSXS1000 much more. It's 2017 so the looks fit the time.
The jump from the R3 to the FZ-07 isn't really that big, as the R3's engine is 321cc and 37hp, and the FZ-07 is 689cc and 75hp. If you can reach the limits of the R3, the FZ-07 would be an easy transition. Though Yamaha doesn't offer it here in the US (yet), they offer the naked version of the R3, the MT-03, in other markets. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla thanks for the reply Drew. I've found some FZ-07's in my area for a decent price, but I've been kind of thinking I should get ABS for my first bike. I've ridden a dirt bike for years but I feel like being on the street is different.
I have the same opinion. The real best part of the bike (of course...except the engine.. that is a star..) is the chassis. I'd most of the best bike that a common person can achieve and believe me or not the most incredible is my mt10. I bought it without trying it cos i trusted in yamaha (is my first one) but i always had this idea .... If yamaha could make me a street r1... I enjoyed the tuono v4 but was too radical. I enjoyed my ex s1000r but was not so stable and handle not like the mt 10. I hate the monster
With the 2017 FZ-09 getting new adjustable forks, traction control, slipper assist clutch, and ABS standard; do you think that 4k is still worth it jumping to the FZ-10? Im looking to get a naked for a more comfortable upright ride than my r6 after my accident(the aggressive position takes a toll on my lower back now [disc damage]), and im definitely torn between the 10, the 09, and the XSR900. Which do you think would serve as a better daily ride?
This is an interesting question. My favorite part about the FZ-10 was the bike's handling. It features an extremely thought out chassis and suspension, tuned for street use. I suspect the new FZ-09 will serve you just fine but I would want to ride the new bike before making a definitive statement. I would suggest lining up a test ride at your local dealer or look into hitting up a Yamaha demo day and see about trying both bikes back to back. As the FZ-09 and the XSR900 now share nearly identical specs, I would imagine this is going to come down to a preference in style, not function.
Thanks for the hasty input, Spurgie. I definitely enjoyed the handling as well. I was at a Yamaha demo event last weekend and got to ride the FZ-10 twice and I instantly fell in love. But then I rode the FZ-09/XSR900 (although the '16 model) the next day and was almost equally impressed and my frugal side started to lean towards the 09/900 (4k is a nice chunk of change) especially considering the aforementioned upgrades for the 09 in 2017... There is another demo event this weekend (lucky me) and I will try to ride them back to back for a better comparison but I don't want to base my opinion of the '17 FZ-09 on testing the '16 (are they the same power-wise?). Seeing as how my insurance quotes had them at nearly the same price my deciding factor would be fun, comfort, and maybe fuel economy.. maybe.
The introduction to the video (B-roll footage) was genuinely bad and didn't at all fit the character of the bike. The rest of the review was much better!! Keep up the good work
In Canada, this bike is $16,000 Cdn, that's $6000 more than an FZ-09. As nice as the FZ-10 is, for that kind of money I'm going to also start looking at the Triumph Speed Triple and BMW S1000R, which are both more refined bikes. The FZ-10 is good but rough around the edges for fit, finish, and components. Yamaha should priced this bike around $13,000 Cdn. As nice as the chassis, and engine are I can't justify spending $18,000 Cdn after taxes, stock off the showroom floor.
I really like the fz-10 and Im hoping that next month I get my FZ-07 as a starter bike. I really want to one day move up to the fz-10 but the only problem is that I'm 5'6 and i can barely stand on my tippy toes on a fz-07. Do y'all think that would prevent me from ever getting a fz-10 or even a bigger bike?
Eventually, you'll be fine going for the FZ-10, but that's a few years down the line. Here's a great article for some inspiration. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/how-i-overcame-my-height
Would the no lean angle sensor be a deal breaker? The Ninja 1000 for less has a lean angle sensor but does this handle better anyway..I read that cornering could be better? Spurg..and then there is the FZ09...or..I can’t test ride any of these in my town...I’m 6 feet 198 lads 30 inch inseam..which way would you go?
All great questions.... Lemmy rode the new Ninja 1000 and loved it. He was really impressed with all of the electronics. Personally, I fit better on the FZ-10 and I liked the fact that it got electronic cruise control. The loss of the lean angle sensor wasn't a deal breaker for me, it still gets four stage traction control that works really well. When I went into this review my biggest question was, "Why would I buy this over the FZ-09?" In my mind, the triple engine was more than enough power for the street and I was never a fan of the I-4 design for street use. Compared to the FZ-09 it has better brakes, better suspension, better electronics, it is more comfortable, and honestly, I fell in love with the engine. The retuned cross-plane four builds power evenly and awesomely. For the money, the FZ-09 is a great bike. But for me personally? The FZ-10 is worth the extra coin. By the end of the review I tried buying one of the press units off of Yamaha. But keep in mind, that is for me. What bike are you currently riding? What kind of riding are you looking to tackle? Is luggage important to you? Wind protection? There are a lot of factors that go into answering that question. Can you tell me a bit more about what you're planning on doing with the bike?
Spurgeon Dunbar Thanks for the feedback. Hello. Well I live in the flatlands, Houston, Texas. I am planning on riding around in the country near my home. Wind protection would be nice, but I can deal with the wind. I won’t something that handles really good and that does not have a snatchy throttle, abrupt on-off, and all that. That’s a real turn off. Probably no track days and no trips. I am about 160 miles from the hill country, and more than that from some real curvy roads. Nimble handling and throttle are my highest priority.
Both of these bikes, the Ninja 1000 and FZ-10 will give you that, but I would still argue for the FZ-10. I love the power and the handling. That being said, the bike's throttle response is extremely affected by the rider mode you select. Standard mode is the least aggressive with B Mode being the most aggressive (read "snatchy"). I found that A Mode, right in the middle, was the real sweet spot on that machine. If you have the chance to ride them side-by-side, I would highly recommend it. But just flying by the seat of my pants and which one I would choose? I would go FZ-10 all day long.
Lies, all lies. Those green ones you stole from my sister are the Oakley polarized, I tried to get her toe-mail you. and the other dark ones you wear, I think there the Smith Optics chromaPoP...and neither are cheap.
Prior to riding the FZ-10 I would have said XSR900. The FZ-09 was just too rough around the edges and I didn't like the idea of an inline four when compared to the triple. After riding this bike I immediately tried to buy one. Like, immediately. I asked Yamaha if I could just ride one of their press bikes home and send them a check. Unfortunately they were all spoken for. Since then, Yamaha has up graded the FZ-09 to address its shortcomings, and I am sure it's much more on the same level as the XSR900, but I am already sold. I want an FZ-10. I am lucky enough to get to ride a decent amount of bikes and I usually have an idea of what to expect going into it. Like I said in the written review for this bike, I was flat out wrong with my expectations. This bike won me over to the point of wanting to stick one in my garage. If it were up to me, I would say the FZ-10 without reservation or hesitation.
Yes, absolutely. For reference, Spurgeon in the review is 6'3" and in the lower 200s. This bike has plenty of room and power for someone 250. -DrewZilla
Nothing, the bike was just called the FZ-10 in the US until this year, when they changed it to align with the MT name used in the rest of the world. -DrewZilla
Who gives the shit what that moron just did? This is the real review. You wanna watch that imbecile spout a bunch of disinformation and bullshit go watch it again. Don't bring his name up here like he is a real reviewer.
not my fave, mt09 has more appeal. The z1000 altho also a strange design but has better lines and its led headlights are more awesome :3 neither though, will make me give up my ninja 1000 (you guys should try that model out sometime ;) )
The engine is the party piece for this bike. I hope the chassis is as good as you say bc the other FZ bikes suck in the handling department. Electronic steering damper? First I've heard of that. You sure? This is one of the weaker reviews you guys have done recently. The FZ-10 is in the top 3 for my next bike. I want crossplane and cruise control! Might wait for 2018 colors though.
+Jackson Woods I just think they come at it with a different approach. C2w said somewhere he's not doing a "review" as such. But rather just expressing his unfiltered reactions /feelings, just like if any John doe were doing a first ride.
AKA "I'm too lazy or stupid to do a research and provide any useful info, so let me just give you my reaction (same for every bike) "ow dear lord, it's fast, burr durr engine braking, hurr durr this is b mode" Go watch his z800 video where he claims that Kawasaki copied it after fz 09, when it's been sold all over the world for years before fz09 was even a sketch.
It's probably cool and all, but it does NOT stack up with the big three on the market right now: Tuono 1100RR, S1000R, KTM 1290R. It has basic traction control, no wheelie control, no quickshifter, is down about 20hp in the real world, has less chassis, less brakes and in general is just less bike. Here in Canada it's almost the same price as the Tuono and more than the S1000R. Why would you buy it in that case? Only if you want a slower, less advanced bike would you.
agreed. the tuono starts out a little more but in my experience there will be some leftovers next year on the floor that gets you in the same price range. I bought my v4r with 2 moles on it for 12,400 US
seeing it in the sunlight, it's really not a pretty bike. It's neat, and I don't doubt it performs, but it's not something I'd look back at. Good. Saves me the hassle of washing and waxing it then.
This bike is soooo freakin beautiful. I love the agressive decepticon look of it lol
Ik, super aggressive. Its my fav looking bike. Just stole my heart right off the bat. Sad I can't own such a powerful bike in the UK till im 24
And Pulsar RS 200 looks like an Autobot

This gonna be my Christmas Gift
I was their at the Montana village resort & marina, when these motorcycle where being unloaded and displayed! They look awesome in person!
Agree 100% with reviewers first impressions. Best chassis + suspensions out of the box I’ve ever tried. I never rode a superduke or a tuono though.
I cant wait to break mine in :D so I can experience the full rev range :D
Is it fixed yet?
insurance might take a while to fix it but its still ridable so Im happy about that :)
personally I love the agressive looks. This bike and the super duke are super sexy IMO!

Why waste time spewing a bunch of specs that can be found with a 5 second google search?
My dream bike Fz 10 ! I really think it’s a cool stylish looking bike.
Spurg used to live in TN... that's interesting. Explains why he reminds me of a lot of folks I know who hang out on Elliston or 5 points in Nashville.

my dream bike !! mt-10 sp ...
The perfect motorcycle !!!
I need that in my garage next to my R1
I wish FZ10/MT-10 will be released here in the Philippines...
I'm with you on the looks. Let me know when they give it the XSR900 treatment.
I love my FZ10! Beautiful and capable bike
I am thinking about selling my CBR1000rr to get the FZ 10. How many miles do you get per tank? I thought it's a small tank.
Thank you
that's the one downside. the small tank and gas mileage. I usually pay a visit to the gas station after 85 or 90 miles
Holy smokes. Not a bike for any sort of distance riding.
definitely wanna test ride this bike
Loving the lights
I like how the second GoPro is strategically placed in front of the speedometer haha
Interesting....
Thanks for the great review.
dream bike. only thing that bothers me are the two loose tubes on the right side. aside from that it looks it would be one of Soundwave's minions.

Hey guys any idea what's the name of the green color shade used on the alloys?
Unfortunately, no, we don't have the specific name of the neon yellow. -DrewZilla
I'd like to see an FZ-05 or something smaller to bridge the gap for new riders and a lower price point. Something in the range of the R3 price range.

Keep up the good work
I would love to see a comparison with the Z1000 ( which looks better, I think )
Do the FZ-09!!
Yeah need a fresh review on the MT09 now
I have the interphone urban, which is only rider-to-passenger, can I still connect to another bike if he has a F5MC?
Yes, you can connect to an F5MC, and you are limited to the Urban's 1000 yard range (about 1 km or 0.6 miles). -DrewZilla
-DrewZilla

Spurgeon Dunbar Thank you for the helpful feedback.
Anytime, duder!
"I'm going though a corner right now, one hand ladies and gentleman" - yeah at maybe 10% lean angle lool!
Love it. Want one bad!
I love the look ..
5:04 what sorcery of amazing sound is that please?
We don't have the song title at hand, but we get all our music from premiumbeat.com. -DrewZilla
Song: Acoustic Sunrise - Pete Morse
It looks like the monster child produced by a forbidden Decepticon and Autobot love affair. I love it!
I think we need to set up a gofundme for Spurgeon to buy a second tshirt, Don't know how you cope with just the one lol.
I am too busy blowing my money on ridiculously cheap sunglasses.
Anthony needs to pay you more then so you can afford a tshirt and ridiculously cheap sunglasses.
Lies, all lies. Those green ones you stole from my sister are the Oakley polarized, I tried to get her toe-mail you. and the other dark ones you wear, I think there the Smith Optics chromaPoP...and neither are cheap.
I've never stolen anything in my life. She gave me those glasses and that's the story I am sticking to!
C, hear ya go again, ya keep fixin doz lips for lying..."What about her poor lil tiny heart? (in a ron white voice"
Is it better than the KTM-1290 SDR ?
Do you guys think it would be okay to get a fz10 as a second bike? My first bike will be a FZ6R or SV650.
Perhaps once you have at least 3 or 4 years on the FZ6R or SV650. -DrewZilla
+RevZilla Alright, thanks guys. And I assume that thats the same for 1000cc supersport bikes also?
you know this is pretty much the best and biggest you can get. why rush it when it makes all other bikes seem kinda lame? lmao
Lol true, you have a point
Does this bike have the same 14 litre fuel tank or more ?
Here in the US, Yamaha lists a 4.5 gallon fuel capacity, which is about 17 liters. -DrewZilla
RevZilla Great , and thanks for replying man 🙌🙂
You're welcome!
what bike would pick between the fz 10, fz 09 and the xsr900? that is my 3 choices but my wife does come for short rides with me. thanks
Spurgeon Dunbar thanks for your comments. I do love the fz 10 the most. Maybe I'll just keep my vmax incase my wife wants to go for a ride. lol
wayne burton I've taken my lady on a few rides on the 10 and the passenger pegs are a bit high..
Would you recommend this bike for a bigger guy let’s say around 250 pounds
Yes, absolutely. For reference, Spurgeon in the review is 6'3" and in the lower 200s. This bike has plenty of room and power for someone 250. -DrewZilla
should i get this as my first bike?
Nope. Take a look at the Yamaha R3 or the Kawasaki Ninja 400. -DrewZilla
What the bike next to the fz10 at 1:25?
At 1:25, it's actually an FZ-09 (right) and an XSR900 (left). -DrewZilla

RevZilla thank you. I love the style of the xsr 900
You're welcome!
Why are the indicators constantly on?
Good question. I assume they just double as running lights. -DrewZilla
The front indicators and low beam from headlight acts as DRL for motorcycles.
Does anyone know if they make the 2018 mt10 touring edition in the US?
No, but the buyer can buy all those touring accessories from Yamaha. -DrewZilla
what do you think guys m a beginner should I buy directly FZ 10??? And I m 5"8 n i have ridden some bike but a normal one not a super bike
The FZ-10 is definitely not a beginner bike. Consider an R3 or FZ-07 instead. -DrewZilla
#Spurgeon how does it compare to the Triumph Speed Triple R, has for useable power in the street and overall enjoyment ?
What's the difference between the FZ- 10 and the MT- 10 ?
Nothing, the bike was just called the FZ-10 in the US until this year, when they changed it to align with the MT name used in the rest of the world. -DrewZilla
Oh, cool. Thank you
You're welcome! -DrewZilla
Amazing bike but been told by a few people the mt09sp would be a better all round fun an the mt10 is supposed to be thirsty
did you and Troy from motorcycle.com try to see who's worn your shirts the longest?
Troy and I had a long thought out discussion about this over dinner only to learn that Lemmy beat us both.
+Spurgeon Dunbar lmao. Lemmy is love. Lemmy is life
I say that to the bar of soap given to me at Folsom.../sigh.
chaseontwowheels just did a first ride of this
Who gives the shit what that moron just did? This is the real review. You wanna watch that imbecile spout a bunch of disinformation and bullshit go watch it again. Don't bring his name up here like he is a real reviewer.
umadbro?
salty MetaDarkness
I would like Yamaha to come out with a tracer-10
That weld joint @5:59 is gross.
Needs a LC 350 light on the front
not my fave, mt09 has more appeal. The z1000 altho also a strange design but has better lines and its led headlights are more awesome :3
neither though, will make me give up my ninja 1000 (you guys should try that model out sometime ;) )
What about the BMW S1000R is that a possibility?
Why didn't they give the R1 the same torque figure??
The FZ-10 is for thew street, and the R1 is for the track.
Because the r1 is a race bike. And will likely be at full throttle more often than not
the Fz 10 has a lower redline and lower HP numbers due to different cams valves, and pistons. basically not at all the R1 motor.
Jon P Thats the answer i was looking for. thanks
Finally somebody who's role the truth. It ain't no fucking r1 engine. It may well be built on the same concept but that's all. Props to you Sir.
Where can I find that T-Shirt?
It's custom, so you can only find it on Spurgeon's torso... -DrewZilla
Love it!
Seems like you guys and chase on two wheels get the same bikes...
Piss off
too bad C2W is a douche. has no idea what he's talking about.
True I noticed that with the African bike.
Only if you want a slower, less advanced bike would you.
you would get that one because it's not the other two
It also costs less than the other bikes you mentioned.
Not in Canada, it doesn't. And barely less in other countries. If you're going to compare it, be prepared for the fallout.
agreed. the tuono starts out a little more but in my experience there will be some leftovers next year on the floor that gets you in the same price range. I bought my v4r with 2 moles on it for 12,400 US
Are you serious... It's less than a S1000R? I'm ordering one from Canada. They are here $15,000
I love it
seeing it in the sunlight, it's really not a pretty bike. It's neat, and I don't doubt it performs, but it's not something I'd look back at.
Good. Saves me the hassle of washing and waxing it then.
the bike is hot, the look is hot looks like that movie
