I'm 99% certain that's also Don Alias on Percussion. Cue cool story:
I, a fellow 4 stringer, was in a group that opened for David Sanborn (Don Alias was his percussionist). Funny thing is when I showed up, someone working at the venue asked "Are you the bassist for the opening act?" I replied, "yep!" and they told me to follow them.. So I did... Next thing I know someone else goes "Are you the bassist?!!" and I was like "yep!". That someone was Don Alias. HE ASKED THE VENUE TO BRING THE OPENING BASSIST TO HIM UPON ARRIVAL - it just happened to be me!
He asked me if I had studied Jaco (I hadn't and told him so - I was only 14 at the time). He didn't show any disappointment but instead got SUPER EXCITED and told me that the second I go home, to look up Jaco Pastorius. Alias went on and on about how amazing Jaco was as a musician and talked a bit about their friendship. We also talked about his (Alias) personal music career. Once he started listed off names of who he has played with, I knew I was talking with a legend.
They played a great show, and I asked Don Alias to sign my bass afterwards. He laughed and said "I'm not a bassist but okay! and remember, look up Jaco Pastorius when you get home". (He signed the back of the neck).
I took his advice, looked up Jaco the second I got home, and fell in love with Teen Town. I practiced this tune over and over and over until I had a solid grasp of it. A few months went by when the Music Director (from the opening gig) called and told me that Don Alias had passed away. I immediately went to my bass guitar wanting to see the Legend's signature... to my distraught the signature was gone! I had practiced Teen Town so much that my thumb sliding along the back of the neck had wiped it clean off.
I was just getting into the music scene, oblivious to one of the greatest bass players that has ever lived, and I can't express how open, passionate, and welcoming Don Alias was to me. Needless to say, I was pretty upset hearing the news... Now that I am much older, I realize that the signature meant nothing whereas the lack of his signature means everything. Thank you for introducing me to Jaco and for such kindness, Don Alias. May you Rest in Peace

i got an old 'peavey' strat-style guitar,it sounds more fendery than a fender! especially with new strings,i bet! i never change the strings ,the damn bridge is falling apart,y'know them little saddles with the sharp little screws sticking up,and on the ends, little tiny springs,on my 6th string, the spring is missing and the string holds the saddle on the guitar...never could set intonation-i need help!

I love Jaco- I have a story many won't like, but too bad, it's MY story of Jaco.. My GF had a friend in San Francisco (her name slips me) Who lived up the road from us. I forget the exact neighborhood (may have been North Beach) Jaco was playing with Brian Melvin I believe /which was strange to me.after being with al these greats. .. They said "Michael, theres a crazy guy staying with us (they took him in) and he says HES THE GREATEST BASS PLAYER in the world!! annoyed, she said, But he's all effed up. I said "NO WAY!" is it😔 Jaco Pastorious????And she said yes!! that's the name !!!. is he really good?? yes!! I said.. anyways, long story short, I met him after a gig in S.F. we one to. and he left with me (and her) cause I had some (stuff) that he liked. we partied all night and he stayed around for about three days and we (used) he drank also, I didnt like to drink, anyways, he showed me all kinds of cool musical things on the bass. There was a heaviness about him. between all the bluster I could see he was sad. I think he missed his family(kids) in hindsight, he was odd, it seems like he would alternate between being manic and then kind of in despair. He took off and it wasn't much later that I read that he died. back in Florida. Didnt surprise me

I am a huge Jaco fan but to me he seems like he is on auto pilot here, of course he is 100x better than I ever will be in this but you can really tell he wasn't exactly present in this. I'm just analyzing him, no hate. He was just a very interesting man to me and I find it interesting to analyze his performances. Just me, anyone else see what I see?

I only recently started watching Jaco videos. But yes, he is the most sedate here that I’ve seen so far.
