AND IT'S NOW REOPENED! As of today, exactly. The visit to the gardens this morning was amazing (I'll probably never see such a peaceful foutains show again). So us all in Versailles are really awaiting for you guys from everywhere to come back and visit the marvel which I'm so lucky to live so close to. I might add another tip for visitors : take time to also visit the CITY of Versailles. It has absolute marvels hidden everywhere and you can probably spend hours of great visits to monuments such as the Saint-Louis Cathedral, La Salle du Jeu de Paume (nearly on your way back to the RER-C station, in the "Vieux Versailles" neighbourhood, don't miss it, you will feel the French History all around you), have a beer in the "Rue de Satory" bars or restaurants and, indeed, just enjoy one of the best cities to live at in France. Apart from all this, I backup all advices given in this video. Another one would be to avoid the most crowded days and hours, which is indeed the most difficult thing to achieve. The best are probably the end-of-the-day hours before the castle is closing. Hope to see tourists coming back in the next months, maybe in a different way than they were before the pandemic. Indeed we all probably hope for a different kind of tourism in the future, but we're all still delighted to see people from everywhere discover what we like the most.
I'm so glad to hear that the Palace is now open, this is great news Christian!! I can only imagine how awesome it looked... so peaceful, untouched, untapped without the massive crowds. I wish I were there! Thank you for sharing the additional tips - Versailles IS a beautiful city with so much history to rediscover. The next time I'm in Paris I'll do my best to make time to hang out in the city. Thanks again and Bon Voyage! 🙂❤
I have just come back from Paris a few days ago and I went to Versailles. I have to say the palace itself was a little underwhelming to me, however the gardens were amazing. So extravagant and wonderfully displayed flower arrangements. Loved the fountains too!
I’m so excited for you, Gabby! Don’t forget to keep your phone or camera fully charged to take pictures 📸 Thank you so much for watching and for dropping love from Canada❤️ 😁
Thanks so much great video. I’m going to Europe Italy and France next week 😃. Was torn on going to Versailles this is intriguing but so much to see so little time.
You’re welcome, Rhonda! Trips to Italy and France sound amazing and I hope you have the time of our life! If you have any time at all to stop by Versailles, I highly recommend it ✅ but if you can’t there’s always a return trip 😊 Happy travels!!
awesome! Heading to Paris for NYE this year and will be there early January so was planning to head to Versailles on the Sunday, glad to hear it's free! Score!
Spending NYE in Paris sounds soooo awesome Angela!! 🎉 Definitely check the website before you go for any closures, but wow...starting the year off in Versailles is total #goals Have a fabulous time!!🤩👏🏽👍🏽
@@FrolicAndCourage I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do for NYE, I may do the budget option and stick to taking a few pics of the Eiffel tower at the Trocodero before the crowds get too bad and then move to the Champs elysees for a bit to see the fireworks at the arc d'triomphe if I can tolerate the crowds, I get anxiety and panic attacks in really tightly packed crowds so if I can stay on the outskirts of the crowd I might be ok.
You’re welcome Christine, thanks for watching! Versailles was at the top of my list, too, and I had to see it! I hope you have an amazing time at the palace and take LOTS of pictures!! 📷💕
Thank you for watching!! 😊 There a bikes at three different locations so there *should* be plenty available…but during peak season they may be difficult to find or unavailable.
I wana know if it’s better to have a guide tour ( which is pretty expensive) or you can actually do this on your own and it won’t matter much if you were guided or not? Thank you
Hey Lohren! It depends on what you want from the experience - I had an audio guide and did just fine wondering on my own. I enjoyed spending as much time as I wanted without feeling rushed. I also know there is a lot of value in hiring a guide, too, especially if you are really into history. You can ask questions and get even more insight, but the pace is out of your control plus you nailed it - it is more expensive! My vote is to go with an audio guide 😊👍🏽
Hi, I'm just wondering if Marie Antoinette's hamlet/cottage free to visitors? (I know the gardens are free) but I know you have to pay to get inside the palace and the trianon, thank you!!!
Hi Marikke! The Estate of Trianon includes Marie Antoinette’s hamlet, so it is covered in the price of the passport ticket (access to gardens, palace, Trianon, etc) or you can just buy a ticket to the Trianon by itself. Hope this helps!!
Hi i also have a paris museum pass but so confused with the booking process, on their site there’s a link but it directed me to pay? 😢 can u pls explain how to use the free ticket? ❤
Hi Hilda! The online booking is a new process, but I believe there is a special link on the official website to book free museum pass tickets in advance: www.parismuseumpass.fr/r%C3%89servation/cr%C3%89neaux-horaires
Hi Praktijk, the fountain shows are typically during the summer months, but there may also be a few dates in fall. The Versailles website will have the latest info 😊 en.chateauversailles-spectacles.fr/search?q=Fountain+show
Thanks for watching, Beth! Just about every day is a crowded day, morning or afternoon doesn’t really matter 😬BUT if you purchase tickets in advance and arrive at least 30-45min before the palace opens in the morning you may be able to get through with less crowding. Likewise, the afternoon is a good time (the estates at Trianon typically open around noon) but it limits the amount of time you spend there. I’d avoid Monday (closed) and Tuesday (other museums in Paris are closed on Tuesdays). I’d try to visit on Thursday or Friday morning 👍🏽 I went in the afternoon and yes it was crowded, but once I headed to the gardens 🌺 the crowds lessened.
Hello i have a question i will be in paris in 2 weeks where can i get the pass sanitare i am fully vaccinated with booster i am staying across the street from eiffle tower is there a specific pharmacy u recommend thank u so much
Hi! Loved your videos. I am going to Paris in August. I wonder if the Palace is so crowded with tourists inside or outside in the queues awaiting to either get in or buy a ticket.. how crowded public transportation is to get to Versailles? I guess all that people mostly uses public transportation so I just can imagine how packed public trains are going to be. Would this be true?
Hi Marcela! Thank you for watching 😊 In August the crowds are starting to calm down, but it's still technically a summer month. August is also when a lot of Parisians o on an extended holiday so there are more likely to be tourists than anything. The crowds were mostly inside the palace and the Trianon Estates, but public transportation when I went in June wasn't too crowded.
Going there in July and thinking about getting a timed entry pass @ opening of palace and was wondering if upon entry, you can go straight to or skip some rooms to see the Hall of Mirrors as early as possible before crowds get overwhelming? Is this a possibility?
Yup, it sure is a possibility! The timed passes guarantee entry within 30 min of the time on your pass. It is a self-tour so you can go as fast or as slow as you want. Keep in mind there is still security and you will have to go through quite a few rooms to get to the hall of mirrors, thereby skipping a lot of great rooms (the cathedral, although it is going through renovations now, the history of Versailles, portraits, etc).
Hi Ankit! Unfortunately certain prs are not allowed. According to the site, “metal-framed prams and buggies” are not allowed. Only fabric baby carriers without metal frames are permitted.
That’s incredible, Andrew! Did you use any software or service to trace your family history? I highly recommend going to see your ancestor’s great work ❤️
You’re great uncle did a great job 👍🏽 when I was at Versailles one of the special exhibitions showcased some of the original blueprints. I can’t remember the names, but it makes me wonder if one of those names was your ancestor 🤔
Ahhh, yes! It was Luis XIV’s private residence whereas the Petit’s was Marie-Antoinette’s escape. I spoke too soon- Thank you for the reminder Daniel ❤️😁👍🏽

Nice informative video. Off there next week. Subscribed.
Thank you for watching and that is so exciting to hear, George!! How do you plan to visit the gardens? Walk? Tram? Bike? Combo?
Currently i have a serious foot injury but normally id like to walk. Now, if i was going with mum and the boys - golfcarts!!!
I hope you heal quickly, Reinette ❤️
Yesss! Driving golf carts would be so much fun, especially when they are filled with family members 😁👍🏽😎
Hey thank you for the tips! Wanna ask you how does one book the reservation timing while having purchased the paris museum pass?
I would use a variety of transport during the day. You end up not so tired.
That sounds like a winning strategy, Wendy!

Hey Christine! You can bring food to the park ✅ , but you can’t bring food inside the palace/estates or the gardens 🚫
tres bien

Le Grand Trianon was Louis' palace, not Marie-Antoinette's. She had the Petit Trianon.
