“So why exactly are you named after me”
Ahhh it’s finally time for my expanded knowledge of this series intended for preteens to be somewhat useful
Sally names Percy after Perseus for one simple and rly sweet wholesome reason, Perseus is the only major Greek hero who gets a happy ending, everyone else, Jason, Hercules, Theseus etc etc all end with horrible tragedy’s, not Perseus though, he actually achieves everything he wanted and ends his story peacefully and happily. Percy’s full name is Perseus because Sally is a super loving mother and an optimist who wants the best for him and in the end Percy does get his own “happy ever after” so it kinda works, in a way
TLDR: Percy is named after Perseus because Sally is a 10/10 mom

This comment just made me realize that Sally probably grew up being able to see through the Mist, and so having to learn that not everyone is like that and that most people would think she was lying or crazy if she talked about it. It must have been hella confusing for her and I honestly feel kinda bad for her now. But now she's not only an adult, but also a mother, and has learned to deal with it, being able to see things that others can't. I wonder what it would've been like if she couldn't see through the Mist. Would she still have had Percy? Idk, I kinda got sidetracked thinking about it all. But it does pique my curiosity to think about it.
