Presumably called himself Theseus because of the old philosophical question about "ship of Theseus", more often known now in the UK as Trigger's broom.
"Cross-drop" was a common WW2 torpedo plane tactic. Two attacking groups splitting up and converging on the bows of a target ship, ideally about 90-120 degrees apart, and dropping a line-abreast pattern of torpedoes. That way, if the ship turned into one pattern to "comb the wakes" and thread between them, they'd be roughly broadside to the opposing pattern, and if they continued straight, they'd get hit along both sides. In the US it's known as "anvil" attacks, not sure if the Royal Navy air arm had a term for it or what that might have been.

Anyone else see the Andrea Doria @9:38 eat three out of four plane dropped torps that Jingles mentioned "ate a couple of torps". Only one registered as hitting, he only got credit for one hitting yet he for sure ate 3 of them. WTF. If they were dropped to close to "arm" none of them would have hit. The Andrea was turning in to them so you would assume that the first two torps that struck from the follow up camera angle would have been on the left and the last torp that hit almost on the bow tip wouldn't have armed as it was the closest. So two should have registered at minimum, but 3 did hit. Whole thing doesn't make any sense.
Izmail used DC correctly, at least based on available info. By the time it ran out of charges, it was on 5k health, it would have been dead by that point if it had let early fires burn full duration.
Cross drops weren't completely impossilbe to dodge, if your ship had decent rudder shift you could sometimes find a gap and turn through the first set adn the second set, especially if you had defensive aa up scattering the torpedoes...

Ackshually Jingles... if you want to see some recent gameplay since it was brought back into the game, Flambass had a bunch of Kitakami videos a few months back
Get you some new Glasses old Gnome ! As previously mentioned the ( sub ) was spotted in the first Batch of 3 ships. right at the start of the map.
i like how in first 3 minutes he spotted all 13 from 12 ships of enemy
cross drop was the tactic taught in the US Navy
Theseus is a smart name for world of warships: it's never the same ship
“The only thing he hasn’t spotted is the enemy submarine” as 12 spotted ribbons appear….
Actually Jingles, you gave there the easiest solution to the spotting problem. Add a squadron of spotting aircraft to the CV. Maybe even let them have an ability to keep an area spotted without the possibility of attacking and nerve the spotting ability of the attacking squadrons
Every time you said Theseus my brain said Feces and my inner ten year old giggled.
Another great video from Our Dear Gnome Overlord...... 😚😚😚
I loved the Kitikami
Oh Jingles Theseus killed the Minotaur. Perseus slew Medusa.
keep it upp Jingles
And they brought Kitakami back
Morning jingles
I wouldn't really call this a throw but it was a fun game to watch👍
The sub was the first thing he spotted lol
The atago did get a flooding from the torpedo.
Beware young fella, sounds like by your voice a bit strained. Take care and well done on being crap on commentating. Always gets me a laugh.
Izmail used DC correctly, at least based on available info. By the time it ran out of charges, it was on 5k health, it would have been dead by that point if it had let early fires burn full duration.
he spotted the sub before he went left lol
Dropped phone and sack tapped myself into this episode!!😂😢
I hope we eventually get to see ships like Type 42 aka Sheffield class guided-missile destroyers and American Arleigh Burke GMFs.
Games of throws always have me looking for my name on theteam lists. I just know i'll be featured for my broadside turns
Wings! To . . . VICTORY!
Goood afternoon Gnome Overlord. All the best.
Nice win
Yep, CV at the end vs no CV is a verdict unless you keep up the odda for your team continuously.
Cross drops weren't completely impossilbe to dodge, if your ship had decent rudder shift you could sometimes find a gap and turn through the first set adn the second set, especially if you had defensive aa up scattering the torpedoes...
The Takao Class Heavy Cruisers of the IJN are some of my all time favorite ships. They're absolutely beautiful. I bought an Atago when it first became available and in my very first game with it, I was detonated. Welcome to WoWs nub, get gud.
Just saying the sub was one of the first thing he spotted
The problem with spotting in a games is that you typically get an exact position, which was not the case when aircraft spotted enemy ships in real life.
Jesus, when even Jingles starts to feature sky cancer on his channel, its time to send in more replays
Oh good. Another CV awesome fun time thing: smoke.
7:50 But is it REALLY the ship of Theseus?
All that talk about the Atago being the first premium cruiser and the carrier rework really makes me wish there were a way to go back to play one of those earlier versions of WoWs (Ideally with the modern graphics overhauls, but I'd take it even without that). Having a legacy version would probably get a few old grumblers like me to actually come back to the game.
