    That shows how good he is. He grown up on clay (slowest surface). Played for the first time on grass when he was 16 (the fastest surface) and adapted himself to made the hardest transition to win 2 Wimbledon by beating one time the GOAT of grass. People judge him only on clay, but for me he made the best adaptation on all surfaces when you know where he comes from (clay court).
    I'm hoping for a 3rd Wimbledon this year, VAMOS!

      stuewz Don't worry man real tennis fans know what he has done and appreciate his greatness . I am the biggest Fed fan but i acknowledge Rafa as a legend and of course he is an all round player . I think the reason why he is categorised as a claycourter is because he is simply too good on this surface and people diminush his achievements because he is not able to be as dominant on other surfaces . But it is impossible to do such thing because he owns records on clay that are never gonna be touched . And the fact that he is playing in the era of Federer the most consistent tennis player of all time hurts a little bit his records off clay .

      I'm a fedfan but always got mad respect and props for Nadal for what he has done in tennis along side Roger! Their rivalry is one of the greatest rivalry in this era and no doubt I think it was a big boost for Nadal to win on grass in 2008 in that classic 5 setter and knowing either way as Roger and tennis fan it was one for the ages and I think the year before helped nadals confidence on grass knowing he can beat Roger! Theres a reason why the French and Wimbledon are the hardest back to back slams to win because the surfaces of play are challenging to pull off and that's why guys Borg federerer Nadal Novak have manage to do it just a rare feat

      dlopezdlo11 Chokovic never did it. He won the French and Wimbledon but never back to back.

    • @goldwolf0606
      @goldwolf0606 6 лет назад +3

      This is the best year for Rafa to win Wimbledon. Roger is showing his age. Chokovic isn’t himself. Murray is still recovering. And no one else is up for the challenge of dethroning the big 5. I expect Rafa and Roger in the final and surely one of them to win it with Roger being the slight favorite ~ 60-40. Cilic and Chokovic could sneak in the final and lose and I would not be surprised. But If anyone else made the final, that would be a major surprise. Bottom line, I’m betting of Rafa. This is his year to win Wimbledon.

    very well explained - why the europeans give more prominence to wimbledon and the french open...liked the way he stressed on the fact that the spanish favor the french open and have been more successful there...
    Amazing that a kid came all the way from a small and remote island - not even that close to barcelona or madrid and conquered so many championships and so many hearts east and west north and south of that little island... must have been a superhuman effort behind what appears as if he easily broke into the top bracket - he did it without the usual trappings of international training...foreign education...english speaking abilities...smartass attitude... super polished family background etc...
    i think that makes Rafa what he is... more power to this childlike super man...

    In a way It's good they got him to speak in Spanish. That way he can express himself without worrying about finding the right words. A native language allows for a fully culminated response, not merely a functional answer

      I actually prefer he answer in Spanish. It’s a great way to learn the language. I am surprised at how much of his answered I understood. Listening to him speak Spanish through the years has improved my listening comprehension.

      Good for you! That's what I am hoping for. I know a little bit of spanish and wanted to really learn the language so I can fully understand his interviews and get away with translations. Hope that happens in the near future hehe.

    After all these decades, Rafael Nadal cannot get through the simple interview in English?

    • @jonathanb1406
      @jonathanb1406 5 лет назад +9

      Of course he can. Are you new to tennis? He speaks in English 90% of the time. The choice was obviously made for him to speak in his native language to have the full range of vocabulary for fuller answers. Really not that complex.

    • @jayap3557

      @@kerauno expecting english people to do such hings is way off... they would do only what comes easy for them... such as give fancy commentary on the sport (any sport that their teams play - cricket...tennis...hockey...whatever) but win any of them at the highest level (that too outside their borders)...they can never do that...never...

    • @haroldsdodge

      They did it for the Latino demographic. They interviewed lots of people whose native languages weren't English but all of those interviews were in English (eg Borg). Interviewing Rafa in Spanish makes about as much sense as interviewing Roger in German, but there's not much of a German-speaking population in the US to keep on board.

    • @boring-username
      @boring-username 6 лет назад +2

      Have you ever taken a foreign language class in high school and remember those speaking tests? They would give you an extremely basic prompt, such as "tell me about your last vacation". Now, you mean to tell me that it wouldn't be easier to answer in your native language and give more detail? Fluency aside, you still have to think about the syntax of the sentence structure, which takes away from being able to give a candid, full answer.
