- Hi there!
I am giving you today another mermaid - just as I promised.
This time she is cuter and more on the exotic side of the mermaid kingdom :P
It is definitely harder for me to make a sweet doll than a creepy one, because all that I can think of are spikes and weird shapes...
Oh well, let's hope she will be still enjoyable to watch!
She is also a present for my redhead sister and at least I know already that her new owner do love her

A nice thing about these art pieces being set in a pose, is that there's no worry about the paint on the joints chipping and peeling! That's a challenge I always struggle with

They have silicone finger protectors that are like thimbles that might help you so you don't get burned.

In Florida, lion fish are an invasive species. They offer rewards for catching them and they’re really good if you can clean them. They’re really fun and we always go spear fishing for them every year

Lionfish are lethally venomous, so this lovely mermaid definitely gives mixed messages

I have found that whenever I want to create a dryer sand effect (for a beach, for example) if I mix dried coffee grounds, pale beige acrylic paint and a bit of gold glitter paint it really gives a great texture, even for landscape paintings. ;)

Definitely nothing hot, but still better to stay hydrated! People don't usually drink that much water in the cold.

You’ve done amazing work yet again!! I absolutely love how she turned out!!! You have such an amazing style as always, and I love how it translated to this one! Your projects have such a unique feel and look to them that I think is amazing! I also 100% agree on taking inspiration versus copying. I’ve had work copied before, and it’s not a fun feeling. I absolutely love your mini environments and love the kitty litter technique! I’m just starting to get into making sculptures and dolls, and I was wondering if you could possibly do a short video on the kitty litter process, if you’re alright with sharing your techniques of course 😊

I'm sorry, I love your work, but why do you make how to videos if you dont want people to try and make what you make in them? That makes no sense at all. Also, I'm all for the original character essence and IP element of what your saying. But you cant say ALL lionfish mermaid dolls can now only be made by you just because you made one, just like jk Rowling cant say no books containing teenage wizards can be written, or noone can paint a seated ladyship portrait no eyebrows cus that's copying the mona lisa. A carbon copy could be deemed maaaaybe a breach of IP but no one will make your dolls like you make them, and that's the point of all artists, thats why fraudulent art isnt worth a dime. Because the artist didnt make it. Even if it looks literally EXACTLY the same, it's still not worth anything in comparison. I think if your gna be so touchy about protecting your characters then maby dont make videos explaining at lenght how to make them. I mean, come on, if I show you how to make a birdhouse and then tell you off for going home and making a birdhouse just how I showed you, because no, that's my design, you have to draw your own, I just wanted to inspire you to create your own bird house designs not use the one I gave you and explained in lenght how to use. That makes literally 0 sense. Its like the teacher of an art class telling the students off for using the concept she gave them and showed them how to create. People dont do that because at the end of the day if your showing someone how to create something and sharing your concepts your happy for them to be replicated, otherwise why show people, just show them the finished doll, we'd all go wow that's amazing but I could never do it and move on with our lives. Be proud that you are sharing your art so that others can expand their abilities too. Be proud people are using your concepts and doing their own take on your ideas. How many artists take great works of art as inspiration, like all of them. And you might say that they change it enough to make it their own but we all start somewhere, when I watched art attack and blue peter as a kid I followed the instructions and made a carbon copy, because that's how I could learn. Dont hoard your art, dont make it unapproachable, be what your chanel is, an inspiration, and be proud of the fact that you are so talented that no matter how much people follow your instructions, they will NEVER make dolls like you do.

I love how long she makes the tails. they are so cool like that, the first one while she was making it gave me the feel of a Chinese dragon when she was doing the tail at first and I really liked how she made the tails long and ethereal, like deep underwater plants and creatures.
she's turned out really cute!!!! the fins and tail are gorgeous too! i love how dynamic all of your dolls' poses are, it really makes them look like they could start moving at any second!

I guess if someone was inspired by you to replicate, or approximate, a piece of your work because it is the only way to have it for themselves and never showed it, just kept it in their private collection no harm is done? Especially if they were following your process in order to learn the mechanics?
In Poland we have a saying: “Czego oczy nie widzą, tego sercu nie żal”, which means: what the eyes do not see, the heart does not care. It’s when it is shown to a public it is starting to be a problem. But I still think that following the instructions with the techniques and creating something the same way but different in form will be way more rewarding than just making something that has been done already. There are so many ways to make a similar idea completely different 🙂

There are some kind of finger silicone capes that might work for not getting burn with warbla, i think they are made for hairstylists to work with straightening and curling hairs (idk how it's called in english but you got it)

I love the final look of this doll! While it does have the smallest bit of a creep factor, with the lionfish spikes and fins, the cuteness is definitely more there than the scary! Beautiful craftsmanship! Keep up the good work! Happy to see more of these adorable dolls!

Put aloe Vera on the blister it also helps with burns. And put on a bandage.

The UV resins fins are an ingenius technique! For fish scales along the tail, if you covered it in epoxy-sculpt would it remain workable long enough to imprint it with a textured fabric? Ive never used epoxy-sculpt before so i dont how long it takes to set.
Thank you :) the scales dilemma was not about how to make them (I make them on my previous mermaid), but how to paint nice clean lines of a lion fish pattern on them. It is hard to paint such lines on a 3d textured surface. So I just ditched the scales entirely.

Look for silicone finger tips;) they will help you get less burned! They sale them at Fokker tree as well. Saved my finger my finger tips a ton working with hot glue.;)

I also agree that design theft is bad. I copy your idea of making custom dolls but I don’t use pre-made dolls. I make dolls out of clay and then I bake the clay. My dolls have a lot of bust though and are more “useable”
than yours.

Something that I think would be so cool is a mermaid based on a sea mammal like a whale, dolphin, or a seal. It would work well with human anatomy, like how you can see a beluga’s knees! Plus a marine mammal mermaid could be cute and chubby for insulation! Adorable!

Have you ever tried making a doll that looks like YOU? What could be better than having a doll in you likeness. Or at least a doll that looks like you but with maybe a fantasy twist to it. I mean maybe you have always wondered what you would look like with wings.
You can see literally all the dolls that I made here - on my channel🙂 I made all 9 of them in 8 projects already 🙂 But yes, I was thinking about making a little me in the future. I even have a good base for it, I think 🤔😉

I was. And I definitely will try it one day, but for now I'm exploring this doll customization world and it is a big one :) It is like an recycling ^_^ Right now I do not trust my sculpting skills that much either :P

A tip for not getting burnt by the worbla is having a cup of water nearby that you dip your fingers in before and after working with the hot Plastic, i used it a lot with hot glue when i worked with that

I am thinking of trying to make one for my niece, but she is a little bit too young right now :) She is four. Maybe in a year or two I will make her an articulated doll and try out my sewing skills :P I have like three big Monster High Dolls, that I think are too big for a figurines :/ Maybe I will remake them :) It will be something new to me, but I do like new things :)

Jak powiedziałaś o przywłaszczaniu sobie dizajnów i kradzieży intelektualnej, to od razu mi przyszło do głowy, że mogła byś ukr... zrobić Lady Mechanikę (z steampunkowego komiksu Joe Beniteza)
Joe na pewno się zgodzi na inspirację, czy też realizacje jego pomysłu w inny medium... definitywnie innym (już to z nim przerobiłem, to spoko gość). Lady Mechanika była by chyba dość trudna, bo dużo fajnych ciuchów i propsów - czyli dużo do zrobienia poza samym ciałem lalki, ale świetny komiks i znakomita kreska i bardzo inspirująca postać- ma mechaniczne steampunkowe kończyny i wiktoriańskie ciuchy.
a tak przy okazji, dopiero przy drugim filmie zorientowałem się że jesteś Polką (akcent podobny masz jak David Damek - Czech z kanału PLASMO Plastic models i podobną narrację, a modele to w sumie podobna tematyka jak lale, tylko z samolotami, czołgami i dioramami)
a przy dopiero którymś filmie zorientowałem się, że jesteś techniczką dentystyczną (chyba oglądałem najpierw bez dźwięku słuchając muzyki)
- to mi się podwójnie miło zrobiło, bo ja też szkołę taką skończyłem, choć w zawodzie nie pracuję - ale narzędzia poznałem... Więc pozdrawiam podwójnie i czekam na Lady Mechanikę
Steampunk, postapo czy cyberpunk to nie moje ulubione klimaty, ale dopiero zaczynam, lali całe pudło, więc może i na taki concept kiedyś przyjdzie pora :) Ja egzamin na technika mam w styczniu, więc szkołę dopiero kończę. W zawodzie pracowałam dwa lata w trakcie szkoły, ale potem niestety zrobiło się za dużo obowiązków (dwie prace, dzienna szkoła i kanał) i musiałam z czegoś zrezygnować. Czy wrócę po dyplomie? nie wiem. Pierwotnie jestem charakteryzatorem i fotografem, więc taki trochę artystyczny crafting jest mi bliższy niż protetyka. Jeśli kanał się dobrze rozkręci - będę z radością pracować na swoim warsztacie, jeśli nie - to protetyka jest dobrym planem B :) No i wiele ciekawych technik, materiałów i narzędzi mogłam sobie przysposobić do swojej pasji, więc nie żałuję niczego :)
@@CatmeleonStudio Jak masz w rodzinie stomatologa, to protetyka jest świetnym planem awaryjnym. Ja się po dyplomie już nie ubrudziłem gipsem i w końcu zostałem sysadminem, ale jakoś mi się tak cieplutko zrobiło, gdy zobaczyłem peany u ciebie :) (btw powodzenia na egzaminie)
Co do Lady Mechaniki, faktycznie przeciwny biegun do wróżek i w dodatku naubierana jak furman. Trzeba by było robić ciuchy, a ty masz pudło lalek ale pewnie też szufladę własnych pomysłów. Zastanawiałem się jak by mgła wyglądać jako OOAK, bo ja już zrobiłem LM i nawet zmusiłem do przespacerowania się kawałek na moim kanale (100 lat temu)
Damn- that tail was something i wasnt expecting- along with some of the spike fins, didnt realise it would be that big-!

My previous mermaid had a very long tail so I wanted this one to be in a same style, even if they are cute vs creepy 😊 And they DO look great side by side 🙂 (my sister took hers to our dental clinic to save the doll from her children 😆 and my mom stole my creepy girl, so they are displayed together now 😊). They match one world perfectly 🙂

I don't know if it is possible, but could you make a mermaid that is like in a bottle. Like these little cute boats in bottles. I would really love to see how it would look.You could even make a little story about how she got trapped in there and tries to get out. Or she looks scared or sad. It is just a silly idea, that came in my mind.

I was thinking about some sort of cephalopod mermaid in fact :) But I thought that this kind of mermaid should be more creepy than cute, and I already promised a cute one in my previous video, and I really wanted to do something a little different :P But it is an idea for the future ^_^
@@CatmeleonStudio awesome! I can't wait to see it, but I just realized that a GREAT creepy one would be to make a doll after one of those deep sea squids with like 10 miles of tentacles. They've only been seen a handful of times alive and are harmless to us but definitely look like the stuff of nightmares....
