As an Overseas Pakistani, I can verily connect with Kim's struggles in Pakistan. No one really makes shows that represent people who spent their entire lives outside of Pakistan. I feel very happy that HUM has finally made a show that represents us Overseas Pakistanis!
Dude, I had a lot of trouble when I went to pakistan. I never understood what people meant, and the culture was so different than the US. It’s not just the language, it’s the mentality that’s different. After many years now I know how to interact and what people actually mean.

The ‘American’ character (Kim) is an extreme charicture of what young American-Pakistani’s are like. As an American, who was raised by American parents and has never been to Pakistan, that character does not reflect me or any of my American-Pakistani relatives/friends. The reality is that most of us cannot speak fluent Urdu (like Kim clearly can), although we can understand it. Our parents HAVE taught us how to give Salaam and speak to elders. We do not refer to Pakistani elders by name. We do not think any male wearing a hat and a shalwar suit is a ‘terrorist’. The only realistic aspect of Kim so far is her reaction to the toilet. Everything else about this character is ridiculous.

My family speaks punjabi I speak it but 30 years away even my parents are westernized I think we hold on to traditions like stuck in past innocence when Pakistanis in Pakistan are different no innocence in Pakistani people

Pakistani families abroad who speak Urdu and teach it to their children would definitely pass on basic manners and values of our culture. I have never come across any foreign born person with Pakistani heritage to call elders of their family or Pakistani/Indian background by their names. Foreign born bachon ka itna bhi bura haal nahi hota! And if we have goray relatives, our children are taught to call them uncle/aunt. So unless Kim was raised in an isolated bubble with no exposure to Pakistani/Indian community at school and no Bollywood movies, hard to believe that she does not know about the basics of culture when she speaks the language of that culture with fluency.

If a language is learned at an institute and if that is the only exposure one has, then it is true that you won't learn the culture. But in Kim's case, she probably learned the language from home and grew with it. She must have seen culture associated with the language too. It is hard to believe that she did not see the culture of not calling the elders by their name!
