Laci and I took a tour of central Europe with Gate 1 Travel, which we really enjoyed. In 10 days we visited Germany, France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria.
Just came back yesterday from this trip... ( if your a frequent DIY traveler and you try gate 1, your not going back DIYing a trip ) its worth every penny!!!.. you do really see the world for less... thanks for the video
Loved the video and review! We did Rick Steves Best of Europe last year, and now we're HOOKED! Somewhat considering another tour company just to compare. Your trip looked very similar to our RS tour, but nicer hotels and bigger cities. Also like your video editing, and took some notes! Thanks for the tour! 💖
A New Sub here. Thanks... Great video! Amazing footage. We plan on taking the exact same Gate 1 tour as you in Sept or Oct. Any tips to Do/Avoid? I see you left from Detroit ... We fly out of DTW also. Any tips on how/when to book with Gate 1 when flying out/returning to DTW? Thanks!!!
Thanks for watching. We actually flew from Portland, ME, just through DWT. The trip and gate 1 were both great. My only "don't" in terms of what we did was that I'd skip the "House of Fondue" in Lucerne. Was a bit over priced for what it was. That said 100% plan ahead with dinner reservations for the nights you won't be eating with the group. Enjoy!
@@ejdoeseverything Great!!! We’re going on a 10 day Amsterdam, Brussels, Bruges, Paris & London trip. Extended our stay 2 extra days in London to see more.
Thank you for your review. We almost went to Morocco with Gate1 but through a friend who recommended a private tour out of Vancouver BC Canada called Gateway2 Morocco. I am glad we did change as we were able to customize our trip to our liking and at our own pace without waiting for others etc. and all else will be taken care of. Also we will be seeing a great deal more in-depth culture of the food, country and people. It is a bit more expensive but I think well worth the difference. When I was looking at the trips with Gate1 I thought the same as what you mentioned in your cons…
Great video , beautiful photography ! Wasn’t one of my top places to visit but now it is! Did you go in November or December, how cold was it and on average how much walking per day? Thanks
I would say it was equivalent to the Northeast in the States, other than the top of the mtn we went to. In terms of walking, I'd say a couple miles a day in total.
Appreciate the effort in these videos, but the music is a bit much. I've done the trafalgar trip to Ireland, the one con I'd add, and it would be a rarity (one hopes) is marital discord between a married couple, on my trip it was so awkward, so uncomfortable to witness this first hand.
I've been on several Gate 1 tours, and your video really tells the story of your tour. Great job and thank you. I have been interested in this particular tour for a while now. We've been to Switzerland and Liechtenstein back in 2015 with Insight Vacations, but I've always wanted to visit Austria and Germany. Makes me want to go now! Where is your next Gate 1 tour?
Thanks for this. I am going on my first Gate 1 in September. So worried about having to be up every morning at a certain time. Was the meet time always 8 am? This was a great video
It varied each day and I have to imagine will vary by trip as well. There was only one day where I think we had to be on the bus before 9am. Appreciate the comment on the video!
How much free time do you get on these tours with Gate1? I've been looking at them and I am booking an interdependent trip with some of their optional tours selected in Italy but was worried about how much free time you get on the escorted tours for a trip to Austria/Germany.
Great video! I saw that Gate1 has a referral program. Would you be able to share your referral info? I am planning to book a trip with Gate1 in the next day!
@@ejdoeseverythingHi EJ, I'm booking a tour right now at Gate1. I put your account number but it is also asking me your last name. I put EJ hopefully that will work and you and I get $50 each
Was great! (will be posting a video in next couple of weeks) I took my dad this time around and the tour was a good pace for him, but still offered enough side adventures for others. Would recommend. Ireland was beautiful! @@vrushalipande6168
We've been on a few trips with them. The extra excursion amount vary by trip but there are normally 1-2. We've really enjoyed the tours with Gate1. We haven't explored using other similar companies so can't help there.

Thank you for the note, glad you enjoyed the video. We'll have to check out RS.
Thank you for posting this so awesome!!!

Great job on the video - looks like it was a great trip - lots of memories.
It was! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Great video and feedback on the trip…I plan on going on this exact trip…thanks ❤
Thanks and I hope your trip goes as well as ours did!
We have a Gate1 tour to 4 countries in August. We're looking forward to it.
Nice! We just booked our next one as well. Where are you headed?

We’re considering a few, but eyeing Machu Picchu next. The London/Paris trip also looks great!

Very early on road land trips. I have not yet been on a river boat trip (have 2 booked)
Very nice video. What kind camera you use ?
This was shot on an iphone14. Was traveling so didnt want to carry a ton of stuff
Looks like he went in late fall? Or early spring?
Over Thanksgiving
Hi, is Gate1 worth booking vacation travel packages with? First time travel looking for an honest booking site that has pacakages.
Yes, definitely! We've taken a few trips with them and have enjoyed all of them.
How much free time do you get on these tours with Gate1? I've been looking at them and I am booking an interdependent trip with some of their optional tours selected in Italy but was worried about how much free time you get on the escorted tours for a trip to Austria/Germany.
Hello! We had quite a bit of free time to explore in the evenings, and for each day outing time to go out on our own as well
Thank you for sharing, Ej.
My pleasure!

looking into using Gate1 for my summer vaca 2024 ! Were there a lot of solo travelers ?
Yes, there were 2 or 3 solo travelers and all seemed to have a great time!
I've been on 3 tours with gate 1. Had several solo travelers on each trip. Going to Scotland in September with gate 1
I have been looking into Gate1 thanks I’m watching now. You could upgrade to first class?
We booked our own flights and I travel a lot for work so we used my miles to upgrade.
We're planning on using Gate1 for a trip to Italy next summer. Has anyone traveled to Itaky with them?
Thanks for watching! Never been with them to Italy but just got back from another Gate1 tour in Ireland.
@@ejdoeseverything how was your experience to Ireland with them? What was the name of the tour?

How does Gate1 compare to any other cruises you have done? Would you do Gate1 again or try something else? Are there lots of excursion options?

are you flying business class? what airline?
Yes. I travel a lot for my day job so I booked tickets directly and used my points to upgrade. Delta there, KLM on the way back.
Do you recommend Gate 1 tours?
Yes I do! We’re already looking at other tours!
I highly recommend Gate 1 too, just came back from Spain.
Is Gate 1 still in business?
Yes, in fact we just booked this year's thanksgiving trip with them!
How was your Gate 1 experience?
We really enjoyed it.
I was going to use them, but their refund and other policy reviews are not good at all.
Interesting. We had to put off a trip last year but they were good about issuing a credit. Not sure on the refund
Don’t use debit cards! Easy to hack
Traveling can have its challenges!
