Before I touched multiplayer in Titanfall 2 I decided to play through the campaign on master. The most terrifying moment of the campaign is when you encounter the reapers for the first time. It’s not actually their first appearance that’s scary, it’s the fact that they crouch down a bit and FIT THROUGH THE GOD DAMNED DOORWAYS. I was sitting in a building trying to recover some health and find a new gun but just as I looked around for the reaper hunting me the wide mf squeezes through the door to put a mechanical claw through my ribcage.
Lol yeah these things are relentless, I couldn't escape from the thing or even take a breather, as soon as you would turn around IT'S RIGHT BEHIND YOU!
I went through on my platinum hunt thinking this is gonna be easy, then i saw aimbots. I sighed but pressed on and stopped playing like a pilot and more like a grunt. Then the mission where you kill richter.... between the crackshots, groundpound instakills, and the relentless hunting of reapers, i had to concede. I ended cheesing with the stalkers you get.
Tavian Armstrong Really? For me playing like a pilot was the best, cause the ai gets very confused if you move fast and it makes things much easier 🤔 (PS: there are thunderbolts in the campaigns which if i remember correctly three or four shot reapers, pretty handy)

I suppose a big challenge when designing AI combatants in a game like Titanfall is you need to compromise between enemy variety and network resources. Bullet sponge, overpowered enemies that can two-shot you are not the way to do it. If their high dps wasn't enough, on certain maps Reapers will drop in clusters, potentially near the enemy spawn. Then, the enemy team that already has their titans can further snowball and gain a significant lead when, say, 5 enemy Reapers group up. My guess is Reapers were an attempt to make an additional threat for titans to watch out for, because in the first game you were practically impervious to the AI's attacks when you got into a titan. I wouldn't say outright remove Reapers and retcon them from the series. They were an interesting enemy to fight in the singleplayer campaign, but encounters with them were tailored specifically for Titan or pilot gameplay. I don't think you ever had to deal with multiple reapers while playing as Cooper, the only times you did was when you had BT.
Reapers don't need to be removed, just they need tweaks, their a nice endgame creep/minion but, there really isn't much inbetween, as Stalkers are rarer then Reapers (from my experience) outside of Frontire Defense, my soloution, make Reapers easier to kill, and add in FD variants of Specters, Stalkers in Attrition, then have the occasional A.I controlled Titan drop in near the very end of the match for the teams, as A.I controlled titans in PvP matches has been done before in Titanfall 1, where several maps namely in the "story" mode had Milita and IMC A.I Titans in the game at the start of the match (though they never really lasted all that long) as the A.I for them, can't comprehend attacking Pilots so the A.I titans just crash into each other and die before the match is even approaching it's 2nd minute).
@@wesleygaray2666 Yeah I could see that working, other then that, add Reaper variants, stuff like, A really aggressive close range Reaper with a Flamethrower and swaps out the ability to deploy Ticks for the Flamethrower, and the rockets for more powerful melee attacks, however it's even more fragile, but also faster and dodges less. A defensive variant that trades out an arm for one of six mini-versions of Titan Weapons, the Predator Cannon, Plasma Railgun, Triple Threat, Arc Cannon, 40mm (non-tracker (the weapon Tone has is the Tracker variant)) and Leadwall, poor melee capabilities, however if it's got the (mini) Triple Threat or Arc it'll be very dangerous at close range (The Former was sort of the "meta" choice for Ogres from what I remember and the Arc... well If Ronin had it, well it'd be even worse to go against since that thing rips through shields from what I remember), then swapping Ticks for some basic "dumb" rockets or grenades, like the Flamethrower toating Reaper it doesn't dodge much, but it's much tougher to take down, and it has the worst melee capabilities, and rarely leaps up onto buildings, and for the most part ignores non-pilot infantry, unlike the basic and flamethrower ones. Then let the basic Reaper (the one currently in game) deploy ticks in attrition, or even use friendly ones as a projectile, in a pinch, grabbing them and tossing them at an enemy who might be hiding behind cover. Reapers aren't quite like Specters with how flexible their loadout can be (Specters having had Mortar, Sniper and Suicide variants, with Stalkers taking up the suicide role for FD in 2 and Snipers being removed in 2), but tweak the current Reaper in the way you said, add a variant or two and they could be really solid, just hopefully Respawn lets variants of units show up in Attrition, etc., and adds back A.I into other modes like CTF (the game mode is just really boring without the firefights going on around the map), but they certainly aren't quite stuck in being a One-Trick Pony like the Stalkers (Stalkers are pretty much just heavy specters), but a Reaper with a bunch of "dumb-fire" rockets, a say 20mm (since it's the mini 40mm), and something like a pair of Archers on it's free arm would be scary to turn around a corner and run into in Attrition or any other mode.
Every titan 1v1 i have had there always was at least 1 enemy reaper shooting me while all our reapers are out jumping up and down a building next to our spawn! Thanks respawn

Reapers in frontier defense appear on the radar like a pilot blip with a larger circle and in attrition and bounty hunt matches they share the same size blip as small infantry. If you see a lone small dot that usually indicates a reaper.
I hate the Reapers. It buggels me that Respawn who made one of the best games ever could also have some of the most annoying things out there in theyr games. I think it’s be cool to have dealers as a sort of vehicle pilots could get into, or maybe make it a boost (you’d have to make the other boosts just as cool, but that’s not a bad thing) Plus making them more vulnerable to pilots would be nice, kinda like Hunters in Halo, you could do that by making their melee stacks slower or more avoidable and give them a stunned state when they’re hit by a grenade.
I think a cool boost would be the ability to call down a friendly reaper for 1 minute, or even get some kind of armor around your pliot that gives you reaper abilities i.e the missiles and the jumping high

The worst thing about reapers is that respawn nerfed the points they give out on death.. also their easy to kill as a pilot if you use spitfire. Especially paired with a-wall
One way to play them, possibly, is if you are a titan and you see one, unload a round of rockets (or whatever) at it and move on. Otherwise, let your team pilots finish them off so that they can level-up quickly and get their titans.
I downloaded the game a week ago, in 2020, and have learned to love reapers in attrition. The game seems to spawn them to oppose the winning team, and helps prevent the winning team from just rolling my team with their titans. It is a lot more fun to get rolled by 6 CARs than by 6 Tones.
3:57 I remember that (Forgot the name) in TitanFall 1. I think the achievement was to kill all the pilots as the winning team in the epilogue with a full server.
You forgot to mention that even when there on your side there annoying as hell because you can't walk past them in your Titan because they take up the same amount of space as a Titan, meaning if your in an enclosed space and your trying to get past them you likely have to backtrack and go all the way around >.>

bro the reaper testing in the campaign still gives me trauma
they were so hard to deal with on hard
This is why you run the gravity star. Hit one with it and its rockets will be drawn in and hit them.
What's funny is that the reaper's head is really small but yet it's body is like so big it's going around the head
One way to play them, possibly, is if you are a titan and you see one, unload a round of rockets (or whatever) at it and move on. Otherwise, let your team pilots finish them off so that they can level-up quickly and get their titans.
Fighting a reaper without bt in one of the campaign missions is one of the most painful experiences
Is it just me or does his monarch look just like BT?
Same eye is why

3:57 I remember that (Forgot the name) in TitanFall 1. I think the achievement was to kill all the pilots as the winning team in the epilogue with a full server.
You forgot to mention that even when there on your side there annoying as hell because you can't walk past them in your Titan because they take up the same amount of space as a Titan, meaning if your in an enclosed space and your trying to get past them you likely have to backtrack and go all the way around >.>
Really nice vid as always but I'm curious about something
Are you planning to continue "tales from the frontier"?
Because I absolutely loved them
