UK drill music gang banned from making violent music

  • Five drill musicians have been banned from writing lyrics encouraging violence and ordered to warn police before they record or perform any songs. In the first judgement of its kind, the judge imposed a three- year criminal behaviour order on the gang members, who are serving sentences for conspiracy to commit violent disorder. All of them are part of the 1011 drill group, which has racked up millions of views on RUclips.
    A warning: there is flash photography in this report from the start.
    Melanie Simpson, a criminal barrister who represented a member of the 1011 drill group in the court hearing, says it is "too simplistic to say music is fuelling crime and violence", while Patrick Green, from the Ben Kinsella Trust, says action had to be taken.

    They had 15m+ views are were due to start making money from the music industry and leave this cycle of violence and go legimate, like other UK rap artists such as Giggs, 67, JHus. These people are rapping about their environment, fix poverty and there wouldn’t be any drill music, they are just products of their environment. All the ban does is put them back to square 1 and gives them more of a motive to keep selling drugs and warring with rival gang members. This literally makes the situation 10x worse

      Interesting argument.

      Susanne Yuk-ping If they have no means to make out of the council estates, and are unable to make music go try and bring themselves out of poverty, they can only turn back to selling drugs and violence. 1011 especially are very talented although there lyrics are violent

      Everyone's got means to make it out of council estates. I grew up in Hackney, my boys either sorted their lives out or went road. You've got guys from the same block shotting crack and other graduating from Russel group Uni's and making it. It's bullshit that you can't make it out of the blocks

    • @XxPNH207xX
      @XxPNH207xX 6 лет назад +44

      taskinini very true , but at least by making drill music they are actively trying to get out of the situation their in. Education ain’t for everyone and some people are more talented in other things such as music

    • @DirtyEdon
      @DirtyEdon 6 лет назад +10

      I don't think that's an effective way to get out, all that does it further make black people think they can only make it through music, which leads to black people valuing music more than education, science or technology.

      But they are. obviously it's macho and provocative, but drill has always been a cry for help. Kids grow up surrounded by murders and everyone's older brother has been stabbed and they have to hold a knife to feel safe, the fear just amounts into aggression because that's the basic human reaction to living in a dangerous place. People growing up in rough hoods in London don't just coincidentally all decide to be violent, it's just a response to a bad situation. Drill is just a reflection of this

    Music doesn't encourage violence. Humans are just violent. These people rapping, use music sales and concerts to fund themselves, to get out of that life. Krept and Konan just opened a restaurant for example and AM (410) just bought a property with land in his home country of Uganda. By stopping their income from music, their only option is to go back out onto the streets to steal and commit crimes to get by and that's when normal pedestrians get involved.

    No music genre is violent..
    The lyrics and vocal riddles added to them are what includes or insights violence into it,
    i only like instrumental music to be honest and I’ve only liked it this way for many many years..
    Adding lyrics and vocal sounds to it spoils it all anyway in my opinion
    Pop/chart music promotes or give out bad messages and unsavoury intentions just as equally
    Young people obviously love the sound of their own voices too much

    If your son goes and stabs someone after listening to drill, the music isn't to blame the parents are. If your kids don't know the difference between music and reality, then music isn't to blame

    You can't ban expression, it doesn't take a genius to know that. If you want to change the music, for me , it makes more sense to work on improving the societies where typical drill artists usually come from.

    Come to the U.S, we still have the 1st amendment and make your money and break their law without having the US extradite you because they'd be breaking their own rules. This also opens up the possibility of him applying to be a refugee since he'll be arrested upon entry for still making the music.

    There is no political solution to poverty. I'm sick of people discussing what should and shouldn't be done. At the end of the day it is what it is and people act like the environment we live in. Nothing will change until the world changes.

    How come u aren't doing anything about America they have guns in there videos and now kids think it's good to carry a gun the only reason you hate drill music is because you don't understand what they are saying and when the songs come on you can't have fun when the song come on and the most important thing is that they are black that's why you are taking the music down

      amtownsyou510 the thing is, we can't deny that there is a link between drill music and the murder rate, but it is not the main factor and it is not the main problem... If drill music gets banned, it could lead to chaos in and could lead to more death.

      But imma tell you something

    • @therealzdeal5630
      @therealzdeal5630 6 лет назад +1

      Nas eazye each generation of uk rappers take an influence from USA rappers
      90s you had uk rappers such as London posse and hijack they took influence from naughty by nature and public’s enemy
      Come the 00s uk rappers/groups like PDC and some south London rappers at the time were dressing like Dipset and sounding like styles p and jadakiss
      10s this generation of uk rappers ,from what I see are kinda influenced by a bit of the 2000s rappers but mainly this generation are influenced by a lot of American gangsta/drill rappers
      67 who I believe are one of the. Pioneers of uk drill said they took influence from Chicago drill

      H Velasco
      I am deadly serious.
      Only government approved and lobbied for large corporations have the right to make music and film as violent or sexual as possible. This is ok.
      Everyone else making anything else needs to be shutdown for encouraging violence and rape.
      Anyone using the word "trigger," or "shank," or "duppy," on non-corporate film footage , will be arrested and sent to be re-educated at a BAE Systems factory while listening to Dangerzone by Kenny Loggins.
      Ross Kemp will film this encounter.
