The reason he’s not running again for senate in WV is because he knows he would get beat. WV used to be a BLUE state . Watching the Antique Roadshow you can see arts really coming out of the west, Europe and the US. A couple of points for both the right and the left:
Our country is modeled after the Roman Republic. It changed into the Roman Empire because of lawfare between Cato the Younger and Pompey (the elites, the Optimates)vs. Ceasar (the populist, Populares). In the end, Ceasar won because he had the love of people.
In the 3rd Century, the Roman Empire almost collasped. The causes are myriad (inflation appears to be a significant issue), but a sure sign of collapse was the collapse of the central authority. Our central government is more interested in sticking it to the opposition than governing (lawfare). This means that the states are shouldering the burden of governing. This is much like what happened in the 3rd Century AD where the provinces started to produce more for themselves and not ship their goods to the other provinces (Pax Romana).
Finally, the Roman people, the hoi polluoi, had enough of democracy as it brought chaos. They wanted peace and order. The American people may, in the end, want the same.
The United States is not collapsing per se it just changing. What both sides need to understand is that if they are thinking all will end well, then they have not been paying attention.
So between Biden and Trump my money is on Trump.
