@@QuesoDipp i know for me, if i learn something by ear or by watching, i retain it much better. if i learn from a tab, i'll have to go back at some point and look at the tab again. it also helps train your ears. i'm not against tabs at all, i use them, i just think it's good for guitarists to try and learn by ear and by watching and listening to performances because it makes you a better musician. plus what will you do when you can't find tabs for a song? or the only ones you can find are all wrong? there's a lot of popular guitar tabs, like the first results that pop up searching for them, ones that people have upvoted for years, that are completely wrong. it's just a good habit to try and learn.

that's just learning with tabs but extra steps. Neither is particularly better than the other, they both just feed you the information.
