How to make Automatic Irrigation System Using Arduino

I will show you how to build and implement an automatic irrigation system which can sense the water content in the soil and automatically irrigate your garden. This system can be programmed for different crop requirements and seasonal variations. This system is best suited for drip irrigation technique. I have also tested the system for different soil conditions and water availability.
This System will help you to irrigate your backyard Garden or your Indoor Garden automatically and you need not to worry about watering your favorite plants in your busy schedule.
Arduino UNO is the brain of this system and all the sensors and display devices are controlled by it. A Moisture sensor is used to read the Moisture content of the soil. An LCD is provided to monitor the Soil Status, Ambient Temperature, and Status of Water supply(Water Pump).

nice job! you should maybe make it so it pumps water for like 20 seconds and then waits a minute to read the sensor again since it might take a while until the water reaches the sensor
hi, thank you very much for your video, but do you mind if add pump runtime for 20 sec only then wait for 3 minutes to let the soil soak properly and run it again for 20sec until the sensor will be satisfied. thank you very much in advance

@The Technocrat I uploaded the same code but when my water level switch was OFF then my pump wasn't OFF it was running but the value of PUMP given by LCD was PUMP OFF

I suggest you to construct the project on the prefboard or PCB. But for testing you may try it on breadboard

To the analog input of Arduino. Here in my demo I have it on the PCB itself.. place the sensor where you want to take the temp measurement.

What is the use of speaker in this project?
Speaker is for notification sound. A piezo buzzer should work fine.
sir the lcd is going weird when the relay switches and pump is on what to do(i used a dc pump)
and when the pump is removed every thing works fine
Have you connected flyback diode to the relay?? Also proper grounding should solve your problem.
No it is 220 V 30W pump.
Looks like a EMI Problem. Try to isolate the microcontroller-lcd circuit in a grounded metal container. Or place the motor , relay and motor wiring circuit away (maybe 2meter) from the circuit. I am not a EMI expert but this is worth a try. Please share your learnings here.

It is in the PCB itself.

@@TheTechnocrat tq for replying its means a lot, but my 16x2 lcd is not working, i followed ur circuit as in instructables, the lcd is turning on its showing rectangular white dots.
@@HikaruKouki please recheck the circuit and make sure everything is grounded.
White box means there might be problem with pot connected to lcd. Adjust the pot and I think that problem will be solved.

hello may i know if i use mini water pump where should i connect it with?
Connect it to relay only. But insted of 230V connect to 12 v supply or voltage of mini pump.
@@TheTechnocrat The mini water pump has 2 wires. The red one i should connect to the relay and the black one i should place it at the 5V from the arduino? or should i connect the black wires to 9V battery?

@@TheTechnocrat I build my circuit exactly the same as yours and for the code i downloaded your code too however when i upload it, the result isn't like your demonstration. The lcd display dry soil and pump is on but the water pump is not turn on and when the water level is low the pump says its OFF but the water pump is running. Also the led should light up the same as the relay led turn on. But when the green led from relay is turn on my LED is off. Also the moisture sensor does not react and display soggy soil when i place it into the wet soil. Can you please explain...I had no idea how this can happen because i follow everything like you did. But my project is not working.

It is a fountain water pump you can buy online or any home supplies store.

i mean you uploaded a code for the project that code is sufficient to run the motor or else is there any code for motor running
The same code can run the motor . Before connecting to the mains supply make sure the relay is working according to logic.

Yes it is possible. I would suggest you to learn about ESP8266, Bluetooth modules and MIT APP INVENTOR for mobile application. Ofcourse there are many apps in Android store for communication with WiFi and bluetooth modules.

no you cannot in your case. cuz you need a lot of electrical knowledge to do with out arduino. Recommend buying the arduino uno.

i made this one bt when moist nd soggy soil is detected water stop for a while nd pump is in off mode...after a while pump started automatically...why is it
It is because the sensor detected the soil to be dry after some time and the sudden flood of water might have caused the sensor to detect the moist condition and turn off the pump.
This is the bug I was talking in the video. This can be improved by placing the sensor in the most appropriate place and maybe add a timer in the code to avoid the false trigger of the pump relay.
