Plagues, Byzantine rework, AND Unlanded? People were skeptical even one of these would go through but all three in one year feels like a dream almost.
There is hope back for Crusader Kings
It's like paradox is redeeming themselves by listening to the community lol
God damn they like killed 3 birds with one stone this year. It was bound to happen eventually.
@@Darthwgameryou would assume so, after the masterpiece that is CK2 (after $250 lol) but we were rightfully scared
@@badlyrosenthal5149ck series is their prized series theyll never let us down on a single one very close second to hoi4 and might just become first if this is good enough
AGoT mod is gonna go WILD with this
Unlanded starts there could be insane.
@@imaxinsertnounherex Elder kings 2 and Realms in Exile are already getting excited
PoD's handling of lobbiying and power is going to be interesting for sure.
I'm gonna be a hedge Knight, travelling westeros, bedding lady paramounts and princesses, taking part in tourneys and jousts, it's gonna become my main playstyle for the first few generations
@@delama7991playing as ser Duncan would be cool
The legitimacy mechanic is really interesting
Yeah looking forward to hearing more on it and giving it a go!
@@SnapStrategy it could make being a king or emperor a little more interesting and challenging really looking forward to this
adds a really good dynamic to mods, someone mentioned AGOT. think how cool the dynamic with the iron throne will be when it comes to legitimacy
I’m still waiting till they add trade and merchant mechanics to the game
i imagine its going to be a balance act with dread. Meaning gone will be the days you could just murder a ton of people for little reason and never have to deal with rebellions
Byzantine empire rework was on my list of wants, but I didn't expect it this year.
same! Something i've seen talked about alot!
I wanted it but not this early. Asia has been starving man😢
Idk how they stay together in the normal game i always instantly get dissolutioned after a single war
@user-vf9ri2xq4i frame one get the strongest alliance you can either inside or outside the realm.
I'm most excited for playing unlanded characters. There are a lot of interactions that you can't do as a ruler, and a lot of interesting unlanded characters to play as.
I hope they add more natural wonders like they did in Persia, and lot of regions of the map feel empty.
Where's Glitterhoof?
I CAN FINALLY BECOME A TRAVELLING VIKING MERCENARY!
Harald Hardrada the Viking mercenary king
@@1992zorro the thing is the time stamp needs to be a little earlier in order for that to happen
Same
“Winter has come to the lands of Rome…
Hail…
Hail!
Varangian!”
I would love to start a "From Rags to Riches" campaign. Just imagine starting from the bottom as a nobody,
eventually settling somewhere, getting some lands for your troubles, become a duke and leave behind a dynasty that may rule a kingdom or empire in the future.
What a story would that be.
Or, hear me out, even going a STEP further, and setup yourself for a truly grueling playthrough by...
Making your character extremely dishonorable (get your prestige in the negatives, and piety in the negative) and then begin the "Rags to Riches" challenge ;)
Or making a mafia, by focusing on intrigue and hooks while controling no land.
Finally the Byzantine empire will work like an Empire
being deposed f.e. by brother and then gather support to reclaim realm sound nice
Could be really abused though to get loads of landed family members if its easy, just force being deposed and settle new lands lmao, so hoping its actually difficult!
@@SnapStrategy road for What Nepotism? :D
@@batfoxy7 Thats what i was thinking haha
Wow. My head's blown with all the possibilities playing as an unlanded character brings to RP.
This means I can now play as a pirate, creating my own legend and trying to spread it all over the world. Also I can now fulfill my fantasy of being an altar-dude at the Vatican and bringing down the world, one ladder at a time. Being able to spread a disease or two while I'm at it the cherry on the cake.
I'm glad CK3 is about to look more and more like CK2!
There is hope
And possibly with better fleshed-out versions of those said mechanics
really at this point im never going back to ck2
Me realizing that could be playing as Geralt of Rivia in the Witcher mod.
Or as Yagrum Bagarn in Elder Kings
I cant wait these DLCs are gonna be so much fun!
Same! and I hope they all turn out good!
As a Byzantiphile, I squeak with excitement at the news of a Major Byzantium Update. The waiting has been so long! I hope the dlc meets my expectations.❤
This is soo cool, I wonder if Alexander the Great will appear in Legend of Dead
It looks so amazing
Yeah! Super excited hopefully this will be a good year for ck3!
Potential for a Byzantine Unlanded to Emperor series?
I love new mechanics to challenge the player, but I'm afraid if it also challenges the AI it therefore keeps the relative difficulty the same
Better as non-landed to Emperor
@@ecxatovByzantine knight to emperor.
@@alalalala57street begger to emperor
Paradox are adding mechanics where you no longer need to hold territory to progress your dynasty this year, which includes Wandering Nobles and I assume Byzantine Administration will play into this prior to said DLC release and will benefit from said DLC release after. This will also open up the game to republic play as well as possibly monastic play. Considering you will no longer require to hold counties to continue playing. Which likely means you can sit on the sidelines and focus on progressing your family, having a family estate tied to the dynasty page instead of the map and your focus becomes trying to place members of your family into power such as electing them ruler of Venice etc and benefiting from this. This will also mean that Byzantium can function historically authentically; No longer will there be landed nobles in territories there, it will be a massive roster of noble families in Constantinople all competing for the right to governorship of the territories. This will also result in AI Byzantium no longer exploding like EU4 Ming from civil wars which happen every time a new Emperor gets elected and the opinion of powerful landed AI tanks. Now, each time a new Emperor is elected, everyone loses their governorships along with it and the Emperor will hand out new ones to whomever likes them amongst the nobility. It will even go a step further than the system in CK2 in that all territory returns to the Emperor, not just duchies.
A lot of possibilities are opened up with these updates to the game engine.
Also, play as a Mercenary: *Forces theme intensifies!*
Being unlanded has such good opportunities for roleplay, imagine being overthrown by your brother and then building up an army to retake your land and starting a civil war amongst your entire empire. A loyalty system would make this even better, with some of your most loyal courtiers deciding to follow you on your way out and joining your traveling group.
So stokeddddd for the Byzantine dlc!
GLADIUS ROMAE SUM, BELISARIUS!
How many of you want Asia added to the game😅 and yes I know there's a mod but would you want the rest of Asia and the middle ages world added
It would be incredible, however we don't know if in consoles it would run if you added Asia, for me, in the xbox series x it just crashes when I do a big empire so it would crash even more when the Mongols start growing
Honestly I rarely play outside of Europe so for me it would just slow down the game.
Lets be real here. I'd rather have them inprove the actual game mechanics before expanding the map. I feel like the mods will suffice until they have a polished game. Then it might be time to add the east coast of africa, east & southeast asia as well as greenland and vinland to include all that was tangentially relevant to europe in that historical period. But not before then.
considering there's a mod for this it's quite useless
I’d love it, as it would make mega campaigns that much more flavorful.
So stoked for the unlanded stuff. really it all looks great but this especially has me excited.
I love everything about chapter 3 except the price tag. More than a 30% price hike from the last bundle along with a lower savings percentage for purchasing the bundle.
This all sounds amazing and I cant wait to see how it ends up
Unlanded was such a cool mod in Ck2 in my opinion , that’s definitely what I’m most excited for
I love that they keep giving me reasons to come back to this amazing game
This is actually amazing
So hyped for this!
My only question is the Byzantine rework. We only saw the possibility to be a landless counselor in the byzantine empire but does it means the whole empire structure will be reworked??
You had me at Byzantine DLC :D
Imagine if they added an alternate history DLC like what if the Vikings stayed in North America
I know they kind of did that with the Aztecs in ck2 but wouldn't that be interesting to see a medieval version of America me being a history nerd I've always liked the idea of medieval America because just wondering how that would change history in the future centuries
Closest thing is the freshly released “after the end” mod
Id rarher they keep fiction in ck2
Exciting stuff!
theres also legendary artifact commission 2:48 . not sure if thats always been a thing though
sounds like some fun updates and finally they might bring rest of Asia in with the way they are going so China, Japan might be a big possibility in the near future, i still want them to add trade and choosing what land you want when they ask for a peace treaty in mid war or what they should pay you if you are winning which how it was historically imo that would add such a fun dynamic to the game but looking forward to this though cant wait
how did you manage to get a video so fast? It hasn't even been two hours since the annoucement video released :O
I can imagine the amount of Ibn Battuta and Marco Polo playthrough will skyrocket once unlanded dlc is out.
I noticed you didn’t mention the new forge a legend item in the decisions menu
Great news all round! I’m hoping that the legend system allows for a more in depth obituary. That still pains me so much
Good point! and yeah hopefully! it always focuses on the most random things haha
Can you do a Songhai empire run? They’re the Zuwa dynasty in both 867 and 1066 in kawkaw, they fall under the Mali empire rule before eventually taking it forming the somghai empire, they songhay kingdom in game is only a fraction of the lands they held in the 15th and 16th centuries as an empire and is a fun “how early can I make this empire” run
Hm! Seems interesting. Thanks for this type of video. I just bought the game in Dec 2023 and there haven't been any major gameplay changes since then (I play vanilla only).
startet a french campaign to check out the new cloth im the emperor of francia now 1195 atm and my charakters dont use the new cloth do i have to manual equip it or is this did i misundestand it and the new stuff is not frensh clowth ?
that will be so good with the agot mod. i want to be an abendeuer with a dragon
Holy fck Im so excited for the Plague update, I always wished the game options would allow for smallpox to occur more frequently, since the game currently only allows for ‘default’ or ‘infrequent’ options for diseases. Definitely going to wishlist when the steam page becomes available!
I have been asking for the unlanded piece for so long
the plagues and legends are super intresting going to buy the DLC Once its out!
LETS FUGGIN GOOOOO SNAP! Man I am HYPED now.
What I would love is singleplayer/multiplayer settings for these DLC, because I miss having combat duels/events by default, and I wish for singleplayer there would be a minor event DLC that would basically give you some kind of event every month or so for some fun RP, esspecially because I find even on 5 speed i'm eventually just sitting there waiting for anything to happen.
I'm already imagining playing an unlanded viking mercenary who claws his way to jarldom. The saga will be legendary!
Good video but I'm sad that you didn't go over the features in their steam pages instead since they show alot more information.
What a surprise w switching this for a flavor dlc was such a massive w
finally the crucial updates are coming
Hell yeah, I can't wait for that
Oh yes the royal purple byzantine DLC.. love it.
I agree with your take on the Black Death, it will thankfully strip the game down making it easier for CPUs and act as a RAM purge. It equally served that purpose back when people still used to play CK2 on Windows 7 machines from 2008 who still played CK2 on said machines right up till around 2016 when they were forced to upgrade their machines.
Are we getting new special buildings and historical artifacts?
Byzantine yes sir !
Looking forward to all this! But, I have only played CK3 on my Xbox, and don't have any Steam-ready computers. Is there a reccommendation anyone could make about a good starter setupt that would run CK3 well?
My last few playthroughs I've noticed the Byzantine Empire falling apart fairly quickly so hopefully this keeps them stronger for longer. I'm not sure if the Persia DLC caused it or what
The ability to play unlanded characters will make mods incredibly amazing, turning them into full on RPGs.
I'm Hyped
Seems like CK3 is going to be on a whole other level after this year! With the new plagues, I can finally play into late game lets go!
Looks like I am rolling all aces
Hey mate, it says your livestream is private, just wanted to know is that a bug or is it a paywall?
For whatever reason the youtube stream crashed twice in the first 5 mins! so stream just ended up on twitch only sadly, Hoping to get it sorted for Saturdays stream though!
Saturdays got you, cheers 🍻
LET'S FRICKIN GO
Omg yes! all of this sounds so interesting, but chroniclers, Legitimacy, and unlanded playthroughs will be so fun! do we know how much the dlc cost?
All what we need now is republics, a secret society update, and an asia update, and I'd say ck3 has fully surpassed ck2!
Unlanded sounds mad fun
If they can successfully pull of Roads to Power, it will be very very fun. Personally, i hope they add the ability to play as theocracies and republic's next year, since it would be the obvious next step, since they are adding unlanded gameplay.
We're about to hit a golden age of ck3
Any word on when consoles will get tours & tournaments?
i hope the greek fire will be added
Super excited for everything, but I really wanted England to get a struggle system. Seems like a real good candidate with all the different faiths and culture clashes
Excited for unlanded
BYZANTINE FLAVOUR PACK LETS GO‼️‼️‼️ BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SINCE LAUNCH🗣️🗣️🗣️‼️‼️‼️
The previous Versions of ck3 soured the game for me, this major Expansion might get me back into it
man i just want new starting dates with maybe a flavor pack to it
so uh.. what about new start dates?
I really want a more court focused update. Like more options to do what real medieval kings did. Like hold court but with council members.
I love it, the dynastic family stuff is something I want for my Austrian roleplay
I love how everyone's first thought when hearing about armies spreading disease is "how can I invent war crimes"
Something no one mentions is that unless your dynasty is wiped out you cant game over with this DLC which is very cool. I will be tempted to lose a campaign or hopefully the Black Death kills everyone and suddenly I’m a distant cousin in a far off realm. These DLCs cant come soon enough.
Best video
Upset there's no news on playing as a republic, by far my most beloved feature and thing I want back from ck2 the most
Can't wait to get this 2 years from now as a console player
imagine hearing you can play as El Cid or recreating Rollo The Walker and thinking "that doesnt sound that fun to me".
One can only hope that they will make byzantines work better than they did in ck2, where they were just feudal elective but generals get claims...
add the whole world to the game !
unlanded but what about baronies?
can't wait to watch my kingdom crumble and my dynasty die off to the plague.
They still need to add a way to actually interact with your vassals(not even mentioning trade). Like i don't like the fact that i can't make them do anything and just build in their lands
About Unlanded, another good option is to simply be so good of a mercenary that the regent may just give you land based on opinion
Honestly I don't get the haters. This is looking very promising to me, as has been CK3 development last year.
Is core a big expansion or medium
Medium Expansion
Wow, things that should be in game in the first place sold for full price
Maybe the legitimacy mechanic will stop AI from trying to revoke titles it's not strong enough to revoke causing them to lose a tyranny war with their subjects. Which always seems to happen when I give a dynasty member a duchy in my realm.
Yeah ai waste money and power being dumb
For me ck3 has to focus on 3 things uniqueness to the point of playing with the same character with the same objectives generate totally different matches, diffuculity is currently too easy, more things to do in the game, currently playing with different counts in totally different places is very similar, easy in one life to become an emperor, It turns out that you rarely need to play 200 years
the dlc should be about the 14th century and development of gunpowders
If Byzantium gets a facelift that's basically like a mini flavor pack mixed into the core expansion. A huge W for the game honestly
Will it effect other empires, HRE etc, like will there be new mechanics?
Literally just Saw someone say this would be the next dlc lol
My biggest issue that I have had with Paradox is that it feels every year, they want us to pay for a Season Pass for DLC. I have already paid for the first two Seasons passes because I looked forward to some of the things in it, but I'm tired of it. Like, why would I want to buy another one for perhaps one or two enjoyable DLC and then 2 cosmetic packs?
They are not forcing you...?
We're getting free updates whether you buy it or not and this is the only viable way they could keep supporting this game for years. (except if you want predatory microtransactions and shit.)
@@luzekiel9343 stfu no one cares
I 100% agree with you ppl are too accepting of bullshit content.
