Can we get a giant Elephant Head that shoots steam out of its trunk and has Light up Red eyes? It would be a great HR affect

Love it. I've been thinking the cranes with some sort of effect but I'm liking an elephant head roaring. Maybe an elephant head in the direction of the cranes? Those massive things having some sort of effect in the background, with an elephant head roaring and lighting up?

  • @tim88976
    @tim88976 2 года назад

-Fireworks off the cranes when a home run is hit, as well as green lights on top of the cranes similar to the very first waterfront ballpark renderings from before 2017 (the curved design).
-Holy Toledo light up sign beyond the outfield fence, complete with bringing the elephant noise over to the new ballpark.
-Rooftop bars on top of the two cranes closest to Jack London Square.
-Keeping the cranes painted white and having a way of lighting them up, mostly just white lights (keep as many cranes at the site as possible).
-An out of town scoreboard either on or above the outfield wall, similar to where they are located at the Coliseum (love being able to see the scores of other games while watching on TV).
-Maximizing the view of the cranes from behind home plate and making the backdrop a real feature. I am worried the framing of the downtown skyline beyond the outfield walls/stands no longer will be possible with the new orientation. I would hate the potential views from behind HP of the hills and the Tribune Tower to be blocked off moving forward. Try to get the downtown skyline framed right.
-Planting of Oak trees throughout the site as well as the trees that were beyond the outfield at the old Coliseum.
-Rooftop park should look as simple as possible and more natural, make it look like the HighLine in NYC.
-Bleachers on top of roof tops beyond the stadium, like at Wrigley Field.
    -Accessible food trucks for fans.
-A large permanently docked boat in the estuary with roof deck bar for pregame drinks for fans.

Foxx, Mack, Grove, Cochrane, up to guys like Reggie, Catfish, Rollie, Finley, then I’d say McGwire, obviously Rickey, Stew, & Eck, then for post 2000, I would go Tejada, Hattie, Davis, & maybe Semien.

As an addendum to your wish list, build a separate section of the bleachers called the "Orchestra Pit." When we traveled to Phoenix for spring training, the "orchestra" was always there, marching in to the beat of their drums to the cheers of the fans. It really added some class to the game. They could put signs out there as well.
There are a number of web cam sites around the world to watch various towns like Truckee, Bangor MI, Keokuk Iowa locks on the Mississippi River and all around the world. It wouldn't take much effort to put a web cam on the Howard Terminal site so us fans can monitor the progress of the stadium.
I now live in the Phoenix area and try to catch as many spring training games as I can. When I want, I can always catch a plane from Phoenix to Oakland and the tram to the coliseum, watch a game and go back home.

The sod (type) likely has changed with time. Keep in mind, that the coliseum field is below sea level and--especially because of such rising over the next century--HT's field will be several yards above sea level. With that said, they won't have the problems that they do now, particularly when the marine layer/other forms of fog come up and get the turf soggy to the point of cleats easily "diviting" (sp) it up; see video of game 1 of the '89 ws to see what I mean by that, pre-Raider return. Point being, even if Clay Wood and co. are still around, the sod will possibly change for that reason, no matter how durable the bluegrass type has been.

I’d say lean into all the green, gold, & elephants. Make this uniquely, undeniably an OAKLAND A’S stadium. For too long has the brand been dragged through the mud. Make this a place obnoxiously, over the top, an A’s temple.
I’d say loads of statues celebrating the 9 championship runs & eras.

1 - look no further than the earthquakes who also have different colors seating in their new mls stadium ... remember the same person is the owner of both the a's & earthquakes franchises & yes i do love the multi colored seats idea as it'd give a howard terminal ballpark a unique look that no other MLB ballpark has
2 - would love to see the ice plants located around the ballpark in the open green spaces
3 - an a's hall of fame museum is an absolute must have & the a's have such a rich history that not many knows how important * successful they've been during their 120+ years run as a franchise
4 - that's an idea that is sounds really good & adding more yellow to the ballpark landscape isn't a bad idea either as it's a very unique color in MLB that not many teams use
5 - i think both chase center & levi's stadium have a permanent tv studio inside or around the premises of the venue so i'd expect the a's to do the same at howard terminal
6 - this would probably be the easiest to do, just hang a couple of cameras nearby the location & run play
7 - i'd love to see them honor former long term iconic employees at the new ballpark ... bring over the name of the coliseum broadcast booth that honors king to howard terminal ... i know the a's are also planning to rename their clubhouse after vucinich at the coliseum & they should do that at the new howard terminal ballpark too
8 - at the very least the roof top park will be open to the general public during non game days so that's a spot that will be open year round & should be a destination spot not only for oaklanders but people from outside the city could potentially visit as oakland becomes more of a touristy spot because of this project near the waterfront
9 - dodgers stadium also has a strong sound system, a's should hire the company who installed that & bring that to howard terminal
10 - it's going to be so great to have real bleachers back again which something that was the most glaring aspect that has been missing ever since mt davis ruined the outfield area & really coliseum since 1995 ... bleachers were the heart & soul of the coliseum & a's fan base when they were there & it has been missing for over 25+ years now ... the only issue for howard terminal is there would be only bleachers in left field as when the a's opened up the ballpark from center field to right field in the third rendering from last february they took out those right field bleachers to give a view of the estuary ... think that's a good trade off even if it means less bleacher seats as if you're going to build a ballpark next to the water you might as well capitalize on the location & have a view of the estuary from inside the ballpark which the first two designs of the howard terminal ballpark didn't have but the most recent one does have now

  • @JadenAlexander

One thing I'd LOVE to see at HT, which would come from the current site, is the expansive foul territory. It's truly one of the most unique things about the Coli. It will never happen with seats getting as close to action as possible in current parks, but I can dream. Can't I?
Also, "Celebration" needs to make the move to the new digs to be played after each win.

  • @ciscoe007

Ice plant presence at the top of the ballpark in the upper deck "park" area would be perfect as well as the top dugouts being similar to the Coliseum dugout tops 👍🏽

I would like to see the Holy Toledo sign light up and fireworks shoot from a barge off the water for a homerun and during a victory. As you remember in the 1970s when Charlie Finley had the team there were fireworks for homeruns and victories. However they had to stop when someone complained. I wouldn't mind seeing fireworks but I like the quiet ones. I would also like to see a fast food restaurant such as Jack in the Box or McDonald's in the ballpark.

ALL these ideas sound great-except one:
WHY THE $&@#% go to a place that needs to be cleaned up in its soil (hundred$ of million$) in an area without decent access or parking? That’s insane…
Why not build at the Coliseum site, next to the current Coliseum, and save $$$$$-or use the money to be spent on remediation at Howard Terminal and put the bells and whistles on the stadium?
I mean, you seem to have a huge advantage with existing parking, a BART stop, AND even an Amtrak stop (running special trains as a feature,) making access far easier? Link all this with smaller lots (and use those for a district tied with the former Oracle Arena).
