  • In this episode, Gabby is doing her first ever "WHAT'S IN THE BAG". A lot of people have been asking for it, so here it is! After getting a VIP club fitting at the TaylorMade Kingdom with Trottie, she has gotten her new clubs and is going to give you guys a full breakdown of the new set. Basically, every club in her bag is new. Then she shows you what she keeps in her golf bag like extra rangefinder, speaker, sunscreen, bug repellant, and the TP5X Pix balls she is playing. After showing you what's in her bag and hitting a few shots on the range she goes on to the course to do an uncut unedited 3 holes of golf to show you guys how her new clubs are working out!

    Hooray!!!! This is the video my son and I have been waiting for. Excellent video and very in-depth about what you carry in your bag. My son and I really enjoyed the explanation of each club and you going out on the golf course and using them. That was an added bonus. My son is a 10-year-old hockey player and that’s his first love ,but , when he watched one of your videos, he wanted to take up golf, and now he is learning from a PGA professional. Well done young lady. 👍

    Gabby I am being educated here on the understanding of club degrees, and shafts.i am now playing with graphite shafts and loving them. I am also getting more distance and accuracy. It was great to see your fit out with Trottie and Taylor made. The science side of it all was so well explained by Trottie that even i could understand. Most interesting fit out I've seen. I'm so happy to see your happy with your new clubs. Obviously with more play time with them you'll get better. As always you are one of my favourite watches young lady. I'm telling my friends that they should watch and subscribe because they'll learn and enjoy like me. But it's hard to get 65 to 75 year old men to watch a just turned 16 year old. Sadly they are missing out.

    Great video. Three comments:
    1: Love the uncut playing format
    2: Get a spray sunblock for your face and apply it as soon as you park the car at the club. Otherwise you will look like an old boot when you hit 25.
    3: Make a habit of placing the tip of the putter next to the ball. This actually is a valid marking of the ball and you are allowed to lift and adjust.

    Thank you, Gabby, nice to see what’s in the bag after seeing the work you did with Trottiegolf and the folks at Taylor Made. I like how you adapt your own practice. If you know you might lose a ball marker and it’d bother you, just don’t offer the opportunity to lose it. Now we need to figure out how not to lose your glasses or rangefinder😅 Thanks again!🙏❤️

    My bag contains 3 putters (left, right, ambidextrous), 60*W, 58*W, 50*W, 44*W, 9i, 8i, 7h, 6h, 4h, 3w, Driver. I hit the ball same distance as Gabby. I reached a 475 yard hole in 2 shots this week pin high to the back of the green with Driver (260 yards), and 3 Wood (215 yards). I am adding the 8 iron back in my bag this year to replace the 8 hybrid because all the golf courses in Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth) have hardpan fairways and roughs and you can't hit the ball with a hybrid off the deck without grass. Hybrids are fine off a tee ONLY in Texas.

    Thanks for sharing the new clubs. I'm a foot spray kinda guy when it comes to marking lines, and since I'm usually stuck with mats, I not only draw a line, but I mark a spot for the divot. It's also great to spray on the face of the club, since you'll see where you hit the ball on the face. Not important for you, but us one-in-a-while'ers, it's great to work on the contact spot. We share similar putters. I have the Spider as well. (Edit: For me, whenever I say I'm doing something with my club (like your new putter hitting long), I end up hitting it real short ... kinda like what you did on the par 4!)
    Keep up the great vids (and like your mom says, put on that sunscreen!)

    Back in the days of wooden woods, I went from 11 degree driver to 18 degree 4 wood, and then 3i-SW. Today at 62 years old, I have dropped to a 13 degree mini driver, 18 and 22 degree fairways, and then 5i-SW. My irons have old school lofts, and all clubs including the mini driver are senior flex steel shafts. The heavier shaft just works better with my swing motion which allows me to use the same swing on full shots throughout the bag. As for putter I still use the same Ping Zing 2 purchased new in 1985. Works just as good today even with modern balls.

    Gabby when you specify the shaft, specify the weight and the flex. You did it for the 50g ventus driver shaft but you missed out on your woods and some other clubs. Gives a better idea of the weight progression Trottie gave you throughout the bag. With clubs like 7 wood, some fitters like to do same shaft as 3/5 wood while others like to go heavier by 10g. You could also do what players like Nelly Korda did and have a different shaft which is firmer and slightly heavier around 5 grams. Not sure if Trottie gave you a heavier shaft in the same profile in the 7 wood or the same shaft, which is important to note.
    Also that spider red bull putter isn't face balanced, it has slight toe hang. The one you were fit for was face balanced. The neck is completely different too which affects shaft offset and alignment. I think it might be better for you since face balanced putters aren't as good as people say they are for straight back straight through. People who don't close the face at impact should lean towards a putter with 10-15 degrees toe hang imo. With face balanced putters, there isn't as much resistance in face opening and closing vs toe hang putters. If you have poor face control, it actually hurts you more since you get a 2 way miss and its harder to control the face with face balanced.

    Since you asked about what's in our bags...I'm playing all custom fit. I have Callaway Great Big Bertha driver (9 degree) and 3 wood (15 degree). I have a Mizuno JPX ez 4 hybrid. Your videos have me thinking maybe I should look at a 7 or 9 wood though. My irons are Mizuno JPX 850 5 iron through gap wedge. My sand wedge is a Wilson R90W just because I got it from my father (who passed in 2015) so, that's a permanent part of my bag. Finally, I have a Ping putter but we're not getting along so I'm probably going to replace it.
    I play Wilson 50 Elite orange golf balls. I'm 61 yrs old and my swing speed isn't quite what it used to be but with these irons, I know I'm doing 180 with my 6 iron.
    Iron shafts are Mizuno/Orochi 70g regular flex graphites. The 4 hybrid is a Fujikura Regular flex graphite. The Callaways are Kurogage 50g regular flex graphites. All my grips are Lambskin knobby arthritic grips.
    One difference is that I don't use a laser, I have a Garmin G6 GPS unit just because my main target is usually center of green and the GPS gives me a look at the shape of the hole and I can get a distance to any point.

    Qi10 max 15 or 16 degree is a winner too.
    Qi10 standard 5 w is a good one.
    Never had a 7 or 9 wood. Still have a 4 hybrid but may give that a try.

    Steel shafts will give you a little bit more club weight. That'll help keep your swing on plane more as you get stronger and your swing speed goes up. If your club is too light, you'll tend to pick it up a bit too much on the takeaway, and come through a bit more over the top. Clubs that are too heavy cause the opposite problem. You'll come too inside and get jammed and block it coming through. Get the weight right and you get a better, more unified takeaway that starts - and stays - on plane. It sounds like you weren't strong enough for that weight before. Now, you are. You can see it in those swings. And with that strength, and the greater club weight, comes more height. :)

    @tjvbham5831 3 месяца назад

    Is your Spyder putter face balanced? I really like the Spyder but also putt with no arc. The only face balanced putter I could find is the double bend shaft, which I don't really care for. Thanks Gabby. 😊

  • @seanbaines
    @seanbaines 3 месяца назад

    About the ton of height on the woods. That's despite the fact the 5 and 7 woods are standard lofts, 18 and 21, ( those used to be 4 and 5 wood lofts, but that doesn't really matter). Why the extra height. A few reasons. One, the design of these low profile, elongated woods move the centre of gravity low and back. That promotes higher launch and a bit more spin. At most swing speeds, a bit more spin on the woods helps get them higher in the air and hold them there longer. Maybe Bryson DeChambeau doesn't want that spin on a fairway wood, but most of the rest of us do. Also, the senior flex shaft helps that launch. Not only is it a wee bit softer, but it has a wee bit softer tip. That combines with the further back centre of gravity to get a bit more effective loft at impact as the centre of gravity tries to line up with the vertical axis of the shaft. That'll kick the head forward at the bottom of the swing a wee bit more, and the slightly softer tipped flex profile of that shaft helps that. It's not much, but with a good swing like Gabby's, it can make quite a difference.
    Those are well tuned clubs, well matched to the player.

    Gabby I am impressed by the direction of your new club fitting choices. I think you will improve with all the steel shafts in your irons. 5 degree gaps on wedges are also ideal. Graphite uses directional fibers. How these directions are constructed will affect torque, flex, and bend points. Steel is a uniform material. It's easier to construct consistency for torque, flex, and bend points using steel. The lighter weight is the reason Drivers and 3 Woods went to graphite. Wondering if your shaft fittings includes "shaft spinning" or "frequency matching"? There will come a point when misplacing items will hurt. The best rule is never put something down where it will not be there 24 hours later. Expensive and sentimental items hurt when the are not there 24 hours later. Your videos are the best viewing pleasure going.

    16 degree 3 wood. Yup. Me too, or rather 16.5. Actually, that used to be standard back in the 60's, when the woods were still persimmon or laminated maple heads with steel shafts. Drivers would be 10-11 degrees. People still carried 2 woods, or brassies. They were about 12.5-13 degrees, kinda like high lofted drivers now. 3 woods would as often be 16 degrees as 15, and 4 woods would be 3 degrees above that, so 18-19. 5 woods weren't very common at that time. That happened in the 70's.
    Nowadays, if you see a 16 degree wood, it is often labelled a 4 wood. I have a 16.5 degree, a much older model, (all my clubs are old because I haven't played much in the last 15 years or so.) The extra 1.5-2 degrees and ultra low profile helps me get the ball airborne with my slower swing speed. So does the senior flex shaft with a bit softer tip. Interesting that they fit you up with almost the same setup even though I figure you swing at least 10 MPH faster than I did when I was younger. Just goes to show. Most people have too little loft and too stiff a shaft. Clubfitters talked about that back in my time. Looks like they are still preaching it. Why? It works!

    Gabby, I'm glad to see you back. Here's a little secret when you feel a cold coming on try taking Cold-EeZe or even D3 or Zinc! Also when it comes to Sunscreen, you should listen to your mom! Sunscreen spray is the best because it's not greasy like the creams when you spray it on or put it on. Most of my family has had skin cancer. We grew up in the late '40s and early '50s and didn't have sunscreen to put on when we were out playing or at the swimming pool. You can also get cancer on the top of your head if you don't wear a hat from the Sun.
    I'm really glad to get to see you play with your new clubs after seeing you go through your club fitting! You are hitting it longer and you'll eventually get your game back after more practice and patience with the new clubs! 🤔👏😉

    I'm curious, you have a pretty high swing speed, but you have some senior flex shafts. How does senior shafts help your game? Doesn't it feel too flexible for your swing speed?

    Hey Gabby, get them to put 'fancy' numbered rings on the head covers so you dont go crazy uncovering the wrong club.

    Gabby, there is a time management theory in the business world that says, "Always carry a very expensive pen. You'll make sure you keep track of it (for fear of losing it), and that way you'll always have a pen." Would the same concept apply for a greens marker? The greens marker might not be expensive, just sentimental.
