Huge fan as well... I thought his performance was amazing. The realism and authinticy that he portrayed was incredible. All of the actors did an amazing job especially Kyle Chandler. Also a huge fan of him as well. 👍
Him and Kyle Chandler's character for sure. they were all great though.. it's one of those shows where they caught lightening in a bottle and everything just fit together perfectly
One of the best casting I've ever seen was the casting of Danny's son. Where on earth did they find guy who looked so much like Ben Mendelssohn? I could've sworn it was his actual son.
I loved how pretty much every character of this show, they felt like real people and not like Hollywood, soap opera stars. Each one has some complexity, some depth, and their own viewpoint. Some deeper and more complex than others obviously (Danny and John being the biggest and most complex and interesting) but almost none of the character felt hollow or wooden nor over-the-top or melodramatic either. They were intense, likable, detestable, violent, calm, throughout the series. Kyle Chandler's, John Rayburn is my favorite character of the series. Yes, John, not Danny (though he is my second), because of how complex and intense he is while being completely unpredictable and yet, in some ways, relatable and sympathetic (in the first and part of the second season anyways). He's struggling to keep his family together while also being the one that handles everyone's problems and irresponsibility. The pressure on him visibly amps up the more time goes on and it affects his sanity. I love how he can be admirable and sympathetic at times and then detestable in the next moment. Same can be said of Danny, who is very sympathetic but also menacing. My only complaint with the series is the heavy usage of the F-bomb. I ain't one to be that sensitive over cursing in general, it just felt excessive at times and distracted a bit. It didn't really tick me off or anything, just probably should've been toned down a bit in my opinion.
The devil you know. They did such a good job of giving dimension to Danny. He is still capable of invoking fear, but you end up feeling so much for him that you can almost excuse his actions sometimes. What an amazing story that really pressures you to discover where you stand on the morality scale. I had no idea it would end up being such a phenomenal story based off of the first episode which I only watched because of Kyle Chandler! Great writing 👍
it's just like my family actually. it's a very very realistic TV show and not one character in the show is just advertly bad or evil...more like just flawed.... even the best of us can easily fall many times
Ive just finished Bloodline....OMG! its been unbelievable,i have been so emersed in this storyline.I have never seen Kyle Chandler before, what a gorgeous man,ben mendlesohn and sissy spacek fabulous! what the hell follows this now !!!!!!!!
After binging Early Edition and FNL for the last couple of months, I keep saying Kyle Chandler is an underrated actor. Give him a leading roll in a feature film already!
As an actress it is so interesting to see what Dawn Sternberg saw in these actors when she casted them. Thanks for such an awesome and informative video!
i just binge watched this entire show all 3 seasons in like 5 days during this self quarantine....and i Loved it! I actually had to take "Mental breaks" from it bc it caused me to really feel the stress and anguish during this show. All the actors were Fabulous and perfect! I did get towards the end of the whole show (end of season 2 and season 3) i started to feel 'daunted' about all the people gunning for the rayburns and how many times everyone says "they lied" it just started to seem a bit much....BUT this was by far my favorite series on netflix so far and i miss it, wish it would come back! Bravo to the cast, directors, creators EVERYONE!!!
My husband and I kept say throughout this series, “The casting is brilliant.” The acting is phenomenal. I’m serious when I say the best acting I’ve ever seen. All the actors are so good. We found it on Netflix and took a shot. We couldn’t stop watching. We were blown away with this show. Now we miss it so much. We watched the last episode today.
I was mesmerized from the first minute, but season 3 was SO disappointing. The season one finale was the high point and it went downhill from there. The casting WAS brilliant but the whole Kevin plot line in season 3 was awful.
3 wasn't awful at all...am watching it right now..this dhow is more nuanced and deeper than most think. I'd advise watching the entire series one more time to really catch season 3. work of art ...pure genius the entire thing imo.
I think John did hold the family together. I never thought he's loss his temper like he did. And, (murder Daddy.) To look at John, he was moral & somewhat as honest as anyone could be. Until Danny shows up. Everyone was fascinated with this handsome detective. Family man. He certainly did look the part. Danny, on the other hand -- everyone was addicted to see what he was going to do next. I didn't think Danny would have so much vengeance towards the family. Who'd thought. He was a wounded person for sure. Kevin was a bundle of nerves. He sure played his part very well. I really liked Kevin. Yeah, hot-headed. They were all as different as could be. They didn't seem like they could be brothers. The show was centered around Danny, for sure. Sam Shepard, the dad. Couldn't picked a better person for his role in this film.
It really is crazy, particularly in dysfunctional families, how siblings all had these totally different ideas of their upbringing and experiences which leads to such unique and twisted personalities. You can see the line, how it all relates and they play symbiotically off of eachother's role in the family.
Thats really the clue of it.. how everything turns upside down and John turns more and more paranoid, being very good in hiding the truth.. the Psyche cannot lie forever.. Murder is often a deeper reason for schizoprenia.. and hidden family secrets.. there are very good psychologists in the editors team.
I first I hated Danny people of how rude he was to the family and the illegal things he did but I soon found myself missing him in season 2. I also realized that he’s not a bad person, he’s just hurt and doesn’t know what to do about it.
Danny made bad decisions when he was younger but in the end he did certain things like drug smuggling for his son since he was cut out of the testament. In the end the bad guy is the Father who kind of pitted he's children against each other. And in season two we kind of see that this stellar spokesman of the Rayburn family may have a shady past. Hope we find out in season three. I also hope that Danny will stick around in John's mind and ultimately drive him crazy.
I think at first Danny actually did want to come home like he said. Maybe he was a little pissed when he found out about the lying but he was starting to help at the inn and all that but then that private detective gave him those tapes and I think that's when he really just snapped. He started listening to them all the time and I think that's when he started to think of revenge because he wanted what he thought he was owed by the siblings that lied for the dad, even though they were just kids too. I don't think it would be the same story if the PD hadn't have given him those tapes.
I know people like Danny in real life. Their entire life is based on how to get things for as easy as possible and then always playing the victim. Their sister drowned because he wanted things his way like always...that personality type is ALWAYS the same. While John tried to do everything right and hold everything together.... that's an incredible burden to deal with. In this entire show, he's the only respectable character and he loved gis brother Danny unlike the rest of his shitty selfish siblings. He got done wrongly as the villain in the end. Anyone in his situation would buckle a long time ago from that kind of pressure and the people he spent his entire life trying to help all turned on him at the end despite him saving their asses... again. They would have all went to prison as drug smugglers. Now I'm not condoning him killing Danny but let's be honest...he was backed into a corner big time and still was offering Danny help at which point he was told to beg. Danny isn't an evil person per say but that kind of personality is always the same and he over stepped big time and pretty much forced a violent outcome. The really shitty one in the movie was the father and even the mother as well.
I love me some Kyle Chandler and loved John Rayburn, and Ben was great (though I hated Danny!), but my second favorite character was Eric O'bannon played by Jamie McShane. Jamie is one of the best actors out there; he blows my mind.
I absolutely loved this show. I just did not like the ending..too many loose ends and many questions. I wish they made a season 4 to wrap things up to have closure..
Sally was the worst of all, her kids were all victims at the end... Even the wives belle and Diana, no remorse, just wanted to live their lives in cost of telling the truth...
One of the best, most underrated shows. Huge fan of Ben Mendelsohn
He was the star of the whole show. They should never have killed him off in the first season lol.
@@TheFarthan True, if they had kept him on this could have been like Breaking Bad.
Huge fan as well... I thought his performance was amazing. The realism and authinticy that he portrayed was incredible. All of the actors did an amazing job especially Kyle Chandler. Also a huge fan of him as well. 👍

So true about Ben Mendelsohn! His performance is beyond Emmy worthy and I can wait to see him in Rogue One.

Kyle Chandler...………….. such a great actor, wow!
My heart is with Danny all the way. All the way. Come what may.
Me too. i hate his family

Ben Mendelsohn is the best male actor on the PLANET. Fantastic as Danny

Brilliant casting!!! Please don't cancel this show - KZK have more to tell...let's see more of the Danny/John relationship develop prior to season 1.
They were great and fitting perfectly in their roles. thank you.. this is a triggering piece of film for history.
Kyle Chandler is the best. He is so hot.
This show LITERALLY changed my life
Your comment is intriguing. Is there a story you can share?
I'm curious too.
I’d love to hear it too.
Is it just me or did they not discuss how the actors were cast for the roles? I tried to skip those season 2 scenes as I just finished season 1
Regardless of our moral or unspeakable preferences these two actors based of course on a great story, created a masterpiece..
I deeply thank them..

it's all about Danny
This show rocks. Kyle Chandler is amazing, cant stop watching him.

he was pretty good
Yes, I found him to be spot on. I live in N Florida. I've net many Eric OBannons, over time.
Excellent casting. Dawn Steinberg is cool.
Já assisti toda série 3 vezes... sempre incrível rever o caso de familismo dos Rayburns!
Perfect casting
Sissy Spacek a MASTER. So good, so effortless.
i hope this comes back one day to see what happened to them
Beyond Emmy worthy. I love that ❤

The made mistake by killing him off in season 1
this video has nothing to do with How the Lead Actors of 'Bloodline' Were Cast.
