Making enemies with the empire at this point just isn't in your interest. The raids will be very tough and any empire pawns you capture won't have natural focus or planting skills (they'll be from the warrior class, so they'll have high combat and I think medical/social skills but few other skills). You won't get any lovely tainted apparel from them, either, as they'll have acidifiers. Getting more neuroformers after the first two is also pretty difficult, and there isn't anything else in the quest line to do. Specs seems the type to ignore everything outside her swamp, as well. I think "fine" in the description of meals can mean many things: nourishing, hardy, etc. Makes me think of cajun cooking. Also, Specs isn't doing the cooking, so the choice is up to Maniac, isn't it? Mismatched ideology symbols seems fitting at this point. You might want to rearrange your room so that Thoraya can use the stool for both the research bench and her lovely new table.
Wilsonator and Pete started new Rim world campaigns about the same time, Pete is progressing well .. Wilson's start has been a disaster, he actually had to flee his Tile to start elsewhere ... LOL
Regarding the muffalo: fences are not expensive, there is plenty of grass and thanks to the weather controller it will probably not snow anytime soon. I would therefore vote for a muffalo farm.
If the wood supply is an issue, you can also just make a really small pen and periodically deconstruct / reconstruct one fence piece to let the muffalo out to pasture
While it might not be the smartest thing to anger the Empire this early on in the game, I think it would be interesting to not be allied with them this time.
I believe having the empire as an enemy fits the story perfectly. The Cult of Jingz should refuse to submit to those misbelievers and show their way is the only, true way.
Yeah! An old man fleeing an attacker to be met by a naked woman he is attracted to. I know what he was thinking. "Oh crap, they must have caught me and killed me. But at least I wound up in heaven!"
I'd a least keep it long enough to get good muffallo tribal wear and tuques for everyone. Cold is a killer, and a gift from Randy like that shouldn't be too overlooked.
A Muffalo can be sheared every 15 days for 120 wool. Feeding the muffalo thru winter is hard, so maybe shear it once, and butcher it when the plant life starts dying from the cold.
Ignore the empire for now is my vote. We worship the trees, the squabbles of human nations mean nothing to us. As for the muffalo, I say keep it if feeding it is possible. The fur from it in the long term seems great, and this way Thoraya won't get even more pissed off haha
@@thomaswiltherford9265 That would be interesting to watch, but we'll always have a chance to pick a fight with them, it might be a good idea not to anger them right away. Poor Specs doesn't even have a shirt to her name yet.
Although going for Ship to the Stars would be pretty difficult, you've already done building the spaceship and going with the empire to escape, so It would be very completionist to get the 3rd ending type. Additionally Ship to the Stars would make this a much more "in for the long haul" campaign
I've never seen ANYONE do the journey to the AI core, and I'd love to see a nomadic group migrate across the continent, setting up only semi-permanent settlements.
@@travisshallenberger9486 Because it's just so anti-climactic compared to the others. You do all that work, construct five separate colonies, and for what? A fade to white, just like the others.
Typically you end up with a ship that is the wrong size for you colony (too big or too small), and you have to defend it fully built so you will spend a lot of time preparing your defences with that huge valuable thing in your colony that brought along a decent amount of wealth as well. And then a key component of the ship is destroyed by a raid and you still have to research and make it yourself.
You just can't say no to a free muffalo this early in a cold biome. And I really want you to fight the Empire, a war subplot would help make this series unique, especially if the defector and Specs start dating.
Honestly while going against the Empire is probably a bad idea, it would be interesting to watch. On top of that, I don't recall any time the entire colony has been truly in danger, so going against even stronger enemies would add much more drama
My opinions: -I agree that simple meals are more on theme. -Don't befriend the empire so we can have a different experience. Be ambiguous toward them, this seems like a colony that wants to be left alone to it's patch of bog, not one that wants to wage a long war against a major enemy. -Eat the muffalo, there are more around that we can get more wool from. Three colonists plus an herbivore pet seems like a lot for our first winter. Loving the series!
I agree on everything except the last. Muffalo no longer drop wool when killed, only when raised and shorn, so getting wool from the other ones on the map would require taming them. Keeping a muffalo alive isn't that hard, make a large enough pen and it pretty much takes care of itself.
I think it makes the most sense for the Cult of Jingz to be ambivalent towards the empire. Trade when you need to, don't bother with imperial quests unless they offer a direct, obvious benefit. I think that fits Specs personality more, being a bloodthirsty tribal psychopath. It kind of seems like Specs just wants her little patch of land for her colony, and wouldn't care to put herself in obvious danger from a far more powerful foe, now if there's another tribe in the area, that's where the bloodlust trait comes in. It also shows the empire from a different point of view, keeping the content a bit fresher.
Agreed on this. Another LP could be about a Cult sprung up with regards to the worship of some exiled Imperial Prince or some suhc, which would make supporting the Deserter more story-wise appealing.
That art was pretty amazing. I'm sure it happened pretty much exactly like that! 'No prohibition against punching an annoying jerk in the face huh?' Yeah, maybe don't proselytize the psychopath. It never ends well.
It seems fitting, considering the whole evil vibe of this colony, to go against the empire. Also getting another colonist as well as a muffalo this early could provide some fun drama with the limited food supply.
I've always allied with the empire, so it would be fascinating to see a playthrough that goes against the empire. I feel like it's more in accordance with the story of this tribe too.
I feel lorewise this tribe would view the empire as heathens. Such a developed type of faction represents the destruction of nature! Or so Specs would probably be thinking.
I realy enjoy the new series thank you so much for sticking with Rimworld. I would like to see how going against the Empire would turn out, even tho it scares the sjit out me. Please don't kill ShadowMage and fine meals are fine.
For the decisions of the episode: I'd say making enemies with the empire sounds kinda like what someone like Specs would do with her mental status. As for the quest, it's one trooper so it's likely with 4 tribals you can take them on. As for the muffalo, I would personally say go for it since not a lot of people actually do muffalo farms in lets plays. It's not something we see often enough, especially with a nature focused colony.
My votes for the feedback pool: - Keep Mr. Muffalo alive for the added challenge of supplying him vital resources. I love how strategic and calculated you are with your decisions. - Empire, ignore them for now. - Fine Meals, I like the narrative and that feels like it falls outside so I support your choice to forgo them Awesome work. Hitting the bell today because I cannot wait for the next video!
Ignore the empire for a while and become their enemy once they've suitably tried to meddle with the colony's affairs. Leave the muffalo alive if possible, they're warm and cuddly.
I think you should attempt to keep the muffalo, but if it eats too much into your food storage, atleast it's food itself. As for the empire, I vote going against them
If there is a better Rimworld Storyteller on RUclips than Pete, I dare you to produce him/her. All three of them packed into that small room with unrefrigerated food, and animal hide... I can almost smell it through my monitor. These artists are just spectacular.
Dr Rove's comic was funny! Also, regarding the muffalo: making a pen isn't expensive and there's plenty of grass. Also, the weather controller is not causing you harm right now, take advantage of it.
I feel like becoming enemies of the empire fits with the general theme of the Cult of Jinx. Seeing as the Empire is so developed and industrialized they probably have a terrible impact on nature.
Switch to fine meals Pete. Even in survival situations, its going to be more in line with maximising your nutrient efficiency. In which case, fine meals would do well. Besides, even in the harshest of circumstances, if its possible to have a decent balanced meal, it would be more logical to go for it just for morale boost. :)
I agree. Why not use your recourses as efficiënt as possible, it fits the whole theme as well. Why use more food than needed. Plus, if you can have a prime steaks, why go for sausages
I think the Cult of Jingz needs to declare eternal war upon the Exodus Empire. it seems fitting that an industrialized body is taken down by a missfit gang of treehuggers. that would be a sight to see. Love this new series Pete, keep them coming!
Honestly, the way you play and comment over the development of the story and its events is really engaging. I can count on one hand how many playthroughs have such a nice vibe as this one. What we usually see are people who are really good at the game but can't make it interesting past that, or people who pay attention to the details of the story, but don't have a lot of knowledge at the game (so they kinda suck). You, on the other hand, do both of these at the same time. It's a refreshing experience.
I find the concept of Specs challenging the empire incredibly amusing xD Also, there's no way the colony can support a muffalo in the middle of winter with no feed and no ability to grow crops, it needs to be slaughtered unfortunately
One thing to note: you don't necessarily need an animal pen to keep animals from wandering off. If you set a caravan hitching post you can rope animals to it without any resources required. the animal will still eat the grass near the post and give you time to build a more permanent pen. Also I think making enemies with the empire would make for a really interesting playthrough! You're already making quick progress with the anima tree, empire raids would just be a good source of clothing/weapons early game. It might even be fun to see Specs do some raiding of empire towns later on.
14:05 Nice, you can extract trees. I was worried that might require tree planting research. But apparently it does not. With they Dryad providing wood now, you can finally stop killing trees. 17:50 Ooh, Muffalo Wool. Perfect for clothing. You do still got some grass it can eat. But you would need a pen.
Hey Pete, Don't forget bloodluster love to wear tainted clothes so get that body out of the grave and strip it before you rebury it :) Also, doing the deserter quest is a good start for your colony. You get 2 guns and get 2 psycasters. My vote goes for yes on that quest and yes on Fine Meals.
I say ignore the empire, kill the muffalo, and make some fine meals. I think "fine" is a relative idea that doesn't inherently go against the aesthetic of a tribal colony Love the series! I always look forward to the next episode
Loving the playthrough so far. Only recently found your channel and have been able to binge watch all of your back-logged videos, so the wait in between videos for the current playthrough is a hard one. Thanks for the content.
Fine meals is just fine. Gonna need em for sure. As for the Empire. They are not going anywhere. So attacking them now would just bring troble. Love the Series so much.
I believe we should keep the muffalo, with the absence of snow due to the weather controller there should be enough grass that it wouldn't effect the food stocks to terribly. Also I think we definitely shouldn't ally the empire this time. I was thinking maybe give it a little time before we activate hostile actions upon them though. But definitely use the anima tree for psy powers. About the meals, honestly I agree with your thoughts but I'm not going to hate seeing fine meals lol. Absolutely LOVE what you do, your content, your channel, how you go about doing things, involving the community, and the art work.. 10/10 since I first found you. Very much appreciate you Mr Pete ❤️ please never change and keep up the fabulous work my friend!
I think accepting this deserter would be very interesting, it would be an easy way to get an extra psycaster in the group and I’ve never actually seen anybody take on the empire before. But with 500% threat scale losing is fun difficulty, it might be an insane task and I hope this playlist goes on for as long as possible
This series sure is going to be an unexpectedly titillating part of the Rimworld playthrough history of this channel. Now even featuring someone for people into badass old guys. I think you could fence the muffalo in and keep it alive, that fur is going to come in very useful. And I'd vote for not allying with the Empire this time, though I'm not sure whether to be enemies with them or to just be ambivalent; the tribal, "staying in my swamp" approach seems to lean more into just being neutral. I wonder if we're going towards the Archonexus or the ship journey ending, but I'd love to see either regardless of what you choose.
I would help the deserter then repair relations with the empire later to make them be neutral. You will get someone with good equipment that you can redistribute if needed, 2 effectively free psi links, and I find it's very easy to repair relations with the empire. My guess is that since being nice to the empire is one of the ways to win the game, the game is more likely to have them be quest givers when the reward is + relations.
I was so excited for the episode. Got peeved when someone tried to interrupt my watching. I love that you show fan art at the end. I think keep the Muffalo, it fits the colony theme well enough. The fur & meat you can always get from other animals during winter. The muffalo also can be used for traveling/trading if needed, I highly doubt you'll get another good pack animal self-taming. As for the empire... BURN IT. (But actually I'd be interested either way.)
This series is insanely interesting. Been following since the days of Cambiar. I would say ignore the Empire for the time being but maybe when you are more established you could take them on. You did disable Mech Clusters at the start of the game to avoid repetitiveness. But I feel the need for a challenge shouldn't stop at 500% difficulty. Besides, in my opinion, it makes for a nice type of AVATAR feel. Tree people vs the Empire. Albeit the cult of Jingz is a bit bloodthirsty. As for the Muffalo I would like to see how you would go about looking after him, maybe as some redemption for our favorite critter Fatty McCool (Prob the best name GG). I have to add, I choked about 3 times on my coffee laughing at your witty Jokes, Pete. You just manage to always get in a hilarious joke that just adds to the flair of your channel and Storytelling.
Love the fan art, everyone! Fine meals are worthy of the Cult of Jingz. But the empire are not. Silly spacemen no understand the secrets of the bog. We blast them with mind powers and dance around their corpses.
Definitely feeling the psychopath druid vibes in this series. Since the muffalo is not a tree I don't see why Specs would care if it encountered an unfortunate "accident" in the middle of the night. Also as far as the fine meals are concerned, I think it would be ok. The old tribal guy in his ancient wisdom might have learned how to turn berries and wild hog meat into something gourmet.
I'm all for keeping Shadowmage if possible. As long as animals stick around in the winter, you should be able to keep everyone fed. I think it'd be a bad idea to piss off the empire right now with such a low tech level, but you can always make enemies with them later fairly easily.
I was just checking to see if you uploaded and got the notification. I know how I’m spending the next 22 minutes. Love your content Pete. My favorite content creator for sure.
i think you should keep the muffalo. it will provide you with warm wool and feeding likely won’t be too big of an issue, as there is plenty to hunt, even in winter. a muffalo doesn’t eat meat however and you can no longer hide meat in meals, so the current rice reserves will have to be eating by the muffalo. above that, i think Thoraya wouldn’t want anything to happen to ShadowMage and Specs will probably prefer an animal companion over those annoying humans.
Hey Pete, always love watching your videos. Currently binge watching your extreme desert playthrough for the 2nd time. I would like to suggest 2 mods for this playthrough: 1. RimHUD - So that we can view the pawns stats without having you opening the tab. 2. Follow Me - I feel like camera tracking mod is better than having you moving the map to follow a pawn. As you can see both mods won't affect the gameplay but I think they will improve the audience overall experience (you can always remove it later if people complaint). Cheers!
Love it! I say eat the muffalo. Winter in the bog is very tough. Already have 3 ppl and a 4th could happen during the 40 day winter. With two hunters you will make enough leather. I would love to see you fight the royalty faction, but dont think it is possible 🤔
It would actually be intresting to see a playthrough as a sworn enemy of the empire. But i completely understand not doing so cause that could ramp up the difficulty a bit too high. But I also dont want to see another empire playthough, so maybe just leave them be. :)
Hey, i would suggest three things: 1. Keeping the Shadowmage( what a badass name) 2.Produce fine meals, who cares? 3.Stay neutral with the empire for now, but if they try to meddle in you affairs later do not shy away from beeing their enemy, i think this would be very interesting :)

Hear hear.
if you don't have neither wood or stone, you can use a caravan hitching spot.
I'd also love to have a muffalo farm. If you can tame a breeding pair we can produce some of our own meat.
The empire is expansionist and they cut down trees a lot, so it makes sense for Jingz to oppose them. I think more combat variety would be good too.
yeah death to the tree destroying empire

What we usually see are people who are really good at the game but can't make it interesting past that, or people who pay attention to the details of the story, but don't have a lot of knowledge at the game (so they kinda suck).
You, on the other hand, do both of these at the same time. It's a refreshing experience.
I find the concept of Specs challenging the empire incredibly amusing xD
Also, there's no way the colony can support a muffalo in the middle of winter with no feed and no ability to grow crops, it needs to be slaughtered unfortunately
weather is currently controlled because of that quest so the colony will pass winter without getting too cold.
Going against the empire would be an interesting stand-in for the Mechanoids in the late-game.
I agree completely. Maybe avoid that trouble for now, but it would be good to see later.
It would be a lot more fun to make enemies with the empire this time, and you’ll probably need the muffalo wool for winter.
Maniac lives for so long I have been watching the anomaly series and he is still going strong
20:30 Specks wears the pants in their relationship XD
storm cloak in me is screaming SCRUE THE EMPIRE!
''My name is Pete and today we complete..'' ahh, music to my fluffy ears!
I love your rimworld playthroughs. its like watching Bob Ross paint. relaxing.
I had a bad day and i almost lost motivation to literally everyting until i saw new video from pete and my day got much more better.
So glad we are back. This is one of my favorite things on RUclips
These go by so fast. Top quality, hands down one of the best content creators.
So what you're say is.. that the pen is mightier than the sword? ;)
Hey Pete, Don't forget bloodluster love to wear tainted clothes so get that body out of the grave and strip it before you rebury it :)
Also, doing the deserter quest is a good start for your colony. You get 2 guns and get 2 psycasters. My vote goes for yes on that quest and yes on Fine Meals.
Superb series, Pete. I got hooked on the Steakhouse, and this series is much appreciated! So much so I had to go make a Patreon account.
I say ignore the empire, kill the muffalo, and make some fine meals. I think "fine" is a relative idea that doesn't inherently go against the aesthetic of a tribal colony
Love the series! I always look forward to the next episode
Loving the playthrough so far. Only recently found your channel and have been able to binge watch all of your back-logged videos, so the wait in between videos for the current playthrough is a hard one. Thanks for the content.
Thanks Pete for returning to rimworld! I loved your ice sheets and dessert series and happy to return with the new run!
Thank you artists! The art really does add so much character to the series!
Good morning monday.
I ma so glad you are releasing this so I can watch it as first thing in the monday mornings. It makes life ... bearable.
actually laughed with that comic strip, always love the art at the end of the videos
I was having a shitty day and it made me feel just a little bit better to see this episode come out. Thx Pete.
I was sceptical how a series would be if there was no hardcore survival at the beginning but this is really entertaining, gotta say.
I think accepting this deserter would be very interesting, it would be an easy way to get an extra psycaster in the group and I’ve never actually seen anybody take on the empire before. But with 500% threat scale losing is fun difficulty, it might be an insane task and I hope this playlist goes on for as long as possible
I love all of your content but your rimworld content always makes me feel so warm!!!! Thank you!!!
I also think being an enemy of the empire would suit the feel of this series, and the personality of Specs.
The Wool is going to be so important for this run I think, since there's not a lot of room to grow fabric or hides in the stockpile.
The empire obliterates entire forest for fun
Naturally *I* want to see you be enemy’s with them but I know I will be over ruled
I'm loving this new series, the Ideology system makes it a lot more interesting and your gameplay is amazing as always :)
Loved DrRove's comic strip!
I was just checking to see if you uploaded and got the notification. I know how I’m spending the next 22 minutes. Love your content Pete. My favorite content creator for sure.
always excited of new rimworld series's even though i watch the first 10 episodes and then forget the series
i think you should keep the muffalo. it will provide you with warm wool and feeding likely won’t be too big of an issue, as there is plenty to hunt, even in winter. a muffalo doesn’t eat meat however and you can no longer hide meat in meals, so the current rice reserves will have to be eating by the muffalo.
above that, i think Thoraya wouldn’t want anything to happen to ShadowMage and Specs will probably prefer an animal companion over those annoying humans.
I like the idea of this colony being an aggressive colony with a lot of enemies, it would be a very interesting story about how they would prevail.
Hey Pete, always love watching your videos. Currently binge watching your extreme desert playthrough for the 2nd time.
I would like to suggest 2 mods for this playthrough:
I would love to see you fight the royalty faction, but dont think it is possible 🤔
loving the series so far glad to see a new episode up
It would actually be intresting to see a playthrough as a sworn enemy of the empire. But i completely understand not doing so cause that could ramp up the difficulty a bit too high. But I also dont want to see another empire playthough, so maybe just leave them be. :)
It would be unfitting to the story arc to let the empire cut down forests for maintaining their lifestyles.
Your content is always an inspiration, thank you for the time and effort Pete :)
Hey, i would suggest three things:
1. Keeping the Shadowmage( what a badass name)
2.Produce fine meals, who cares?
3.Stay neutral with the empire for now, but if they try to meddle in you affairs later do not shy away from beeing their enemy, i think this would be very interesting :)
The artwork is amazing. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I was hoping for this episode. Thank you Pete
I see the new colonist melee skill, nice.
I see randomly chosen name for it being Maniac. * Gently nods*
Fighting the empire does sound like fun. Especially since you were their allies during the last playthrough.
Thoraya is so cool. She literaly fought a raider while she was naked and didnt even get injured one bit
I can't get enough of this series
Omg! Comic one is the one of the best fan-art I've ever seen
