Yes the original version is so emotional I don't think you could beat it, but he's doing it justice we'll done, I watched Kelly clarkson doing it, some kind of Saturday night show in America some one commented she topped radiohead I disagreed but he was having none of it🙄, is he right maybe my radar for real music isn't working anymore.
No voice and zero talent whatsoever. Called for open violence against Trump supporters, receiving money from Biden. F. knew d3aths of millions were on his hands already.
He’s super talented but I think it’s a bit of a stretch to say he’s made TY proud.. the cover feels a bit disconnected and less fluid than the original and live versions of Radiohead:)
I felt their last record as Billy Elish has some echoes from Radiohead an here’s the clear conection. Genius and lovely way which brings past, present and future toghether. Thank you
Beautiful. What an amazing cover. It doesn't have the power of the original but it never would when there are only two people and it's acoustic. An amazing stripped back cover. Now to listen to the original - it's been a while.
Finneas is Billies brother right? How could parents birth TWO wonderfully talented children with THE most gorgeous of voices and song writing/production skills and both are still so very young too? Their parents must feek very blessed, I know I would. And I know all of our chilren have their own set of unique skills. Have Billie an Finneas ever sang together on one song? What a lovely combo that would be? 🙂 This song is angelic x
@@yodatwinkie Is he? I dont know much about them other than they have great voices. You have me intrigued now so Google will be my friend shortly ;-) Are they blood brother / sister? Publicity stunt maybe? But rather odd otherwise ....
A respectably solid and cool cover. Selecting a Radiohead song to cover always shows great musicality and full respect to anyone taking it on, as Radiohead fans (unlike Radiohead themselves) can get a little precious about the bands peerless and epic back catalogue. I have though found most fans are quite gracious when the person covering does a good job and the music means so much to the fans. They really are a band that real musician's seem to love, making something closer to timeless art than the 'superficial content of the day'. There's been some good covers of this song and this is definitely one of the better ones.
Just what we needed... Finneas singing Radiohead it's heaven to me! Just imagine Thom Yorke and Finneas singing this masterpiece togethet! Amazing cover!
Super honest. Wrenching. Chills. I first heard this song in the backseat of a car in 1995 while tripping on acid. Honestly Finneas, What Was I Made For has the same feeling now that song did then. It seemed to kind of pry a knife behind the veneer of reality.
Really nice cover. There's a point about how the original is written and performed that it is very kind-of under adorned - there's a huge amount of space around all the phrases and chord changes. Sometimes less is more, and Finneas understanding not to give in to the temptation to added too much to the structure really shows that he understands the song and how it works. There's a pain, vulnerability and brokenness to Tom York's original delivery that's probably pretty much impossible to reproduce, but this is a genuinely musical and thoughtful cover, and I honestly don't think you can do better than that.
My favorite song. Remember the mid 90’s in middle school going into high school when this album came out. At the height of teen angst listening to this and thinking I’d found something that no one else understood.
This is my favorite Radiohead song of all time. Whenever Idol contestants sing High and Dry, I think to myself, "There's an even better song on that album."
@@yodatwinkieWhere did you even get that information Edit: if anyone was wondering what that person was saying it was along the lines of "isn't finneas the one who has a crush on Billie"
No miming and no pitch correction. Refreshing. You can tell there's no pitch correction because some of the high falsetto notes are a little bit flat. And guess what? That's okay. It doesn't lessen the emotional impact. If anything it's better because you can feel the humanity and you know that it's actually being done live.
Just want to note that pitch correction is manual (autotune is different) and if it's used expertly then people will intentionally leave in notes that are slightly flat/sharp to retain the feel, whilst correcting notes that are clearly out of key. Not at all implying that I can say pitch correction was 100% used in this case (and it doesn't sound obviously pitch corrected to me) but when you're talking odds with pop music, pitch correction is almost always used.
@@bandofmountains composer/musician here, to my ear there's no pitch correction happening here. Can especially tell on the long vowels, theres pitch variation even on one syllable and note. "Surgery" on "used to surgery" is slightly flat. Would be a bit ironic using pitch correction considering what the song is about, lol
Just as Thom was impressed with Billie's music, I expect he'll be smiling broadly at this cover. There have been so many people who have interpreted and covered this tune. But this voice resonates with me a little more because he knows what emotions should be at the forefront when he sings this tune. This is not a tune that should showcase any vocal skill or finesse. It's a tune that requires you to be honest with yourself about feelings. Thank you for Finn!
As a Radiohead fan, this makes me smile, even if the original is untouchable.
Same but it’s not a patch on the original. Not close.😎

@@tonymcphee8098 kelly clarkson could never!
One of the best covers of this I've heard, but it also shows how incredible Thom Yorke's effortless switches to falsetto are.
so true bestie
Yes, also made me realise how amazing the lyrics are.. what a song!
Imagine if his sister had sung it
You should check out Phoebe Bridgers' version.
You’ve got to have guts to dare to cover such a song. And Finneas, my friend, you do it subtly, intimately, and deeply. Well done.

Sounds like Coldplay

Yeah, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas are big fans of Radiohead as they’ve said themselves, I definitely see what you mean.
I remember getting this album when it first came out, summer before my senior year. I am old.

Everything is in its right place with this cover.
This hit hard for me, thats the goal for these artists, right, to connect with people, mission accomplished
did it hit you hard and soft tho?
NO WAY MY FAVORITE SONG
Ah this is cool, I remember seeing a video of Thom Yorke at a Billie concert with Finneas supporting her. Finneas would have loved that!
Radiohead is my all time favorite band and this is lovely. Love ya Finneas!
