You get cocain by the nose as it is powdered - the candle and the spoon is for heroin that must be warmed up before injected. I haven't heard him ever talking about being addicted to heroin buut he has admitted his dependence on painkillers and alcohol. The song speaks generally about drug addictions, and his personal experience is obvious in the lyrics and the intensity he projects when he sings. Obviously one of the best (live) singers ever!!!
Without him and the bass player their music seems to have lost its soul .. in my opinion it just is not the same... it sounds like cookie cutter commercial bulshit now . I really liked the Sound of Madness a lot but they wrote that when Jason Todd was still in the band there's versions of him playing it live .. the other dudes just came in and copied the parts he already had written for that album since then they have come up with nothing Worthy
@@jeffbogue3718 They're still around, and still kicking ass, especially their latest album, Planet Zero. Cookie cutter bullshit my ass. And that's their job. They know all the chords to play and it sounds seamless when played live. You have no idea with what you're talking about.
To each their own but his vocal work on their cover of simple man was fantastic too. Bouncing between soft and smooth to belting out for the choruses and the vibrato he slides in there really is just plain out great. The song itself is good lyrically too. Just enjoy the simple things in life and you will be happier in the end.
Kevin it was only a drinking problem, jason was a legend in the band and also Brett but jason was in my town when he was abandon like it was fucked up what brett did he really fucked him, i really want to thorw a shoe at brett and say this is for jason haha but yea good times when he left
+heat4yoass I've been to one of their live unplugged shows and he really can reach all the notes perfectly and perform even better than studio. He doesn't lip sync.
I'm so glad someone saved him. What a gift of a voice.
His son did
Agreed
Yeah
I really miss the original Shinedown band...

@@b1galbos89 Yes he has a clue that's why he said it, and I agree.
I agree with Nathan Junior
@@b1galbos89 I also agree with Nathan Junior, and you’ll find a lot of older Shinedown fans that agree.
@@Dudelee1 Oh absolutely man 🤘
Best Version. He killed it. Shinedown should be in the Hall of Fame.
yep.........it's always great to see a vocalist who can deliver the goods live.
Probably the best version I have heard right here
R.I.P. Eddie Guerrero 1967-2005 (Last PPV of Eddie Guerrero) (WWE No Mercy 2005)
Thanks for remembering Eddie's last PPV!

He has said before this song isn't about him. It was for a good friend who had a drug problem & begged for help.
You Called it, Captain Obvious!....
stellar !
better than the studio version

49k now :)
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
How do they go from this to that hip hop style type? (state of my head)
Brandon2940 hear the entire album bro...they still rockin' the sh*t haha
Wtf do you hear . It's not even close to hip hop
Because jason made it metal and not hiphop
Even if you thought that was hip hop, the new album isnt
Dont know but honestly. Love a lot of songs by them
What show on ABC was this on?
Dodged some notes but still an incredible voice.
Love the old shine down Jason was way better than lil Zack Myers

I hate shinedown for most of their songs but this one... this one is special.

@@SyNKevN That's not true at all.
this song IS about his addiction to oxycontin
Nope. Publicly stated written at 16yr old. But incredibly prophetic.
lip synching
+heat4yoass I've been to one of their live unplugged shows and he really can reach all the notes perfectly and perform even better than studio. He doesn't lip sync.
He is not lip syncing...you can hear it when he sings into the mic
He lip synced during the Sound of Madness era onwards but not during this era backwards
I went to one of their shows in 2019. He didn't lip sync
He hasn’t lip synced since 2011
