It was a privilege and an honor to operate the hydraulic presses for my father Edmund Lewis Weber owner of Weber Metal who supplied Boeing with hand forged aluminum parts not final machined. During the 1960's and 1970's
Edmund Weber i helped make the rivets for some people once tryed to explain way thiers left an right rivet guns to a back yard machanic ???? my children knew this type of stuff wallkng into grade school i could not comunicate it ????? butifull days to booeing crew
My belief is the BOEING company is the best manufacturer of aerospace and aircraft. I think the Apollo / Saturn V made a mark for BOEING and Weber Metals. My father spoke highly of the personnel who worked at BOEING for many years purchasing aluminum hand forgings.
Jesus..I knew being a test pilot was one of most dangerous job and they got steel balls..but I forget abt engineers in seats taking notes..they dont get enough credit, their nuts too.. everyone risking there lives every time they go up..crazy, think their was a tragic accident that killed all on board on a test run..
Wow! I'm amazed at how any human being would do this voluntarily!! I swear I would either have a massive heart attack or just drop dead I'm terrified of roller coasters and only fly when absolutely necessary!
This video shows the plane taking off at the old Norton Air Force Base which is now San Bernardino International airport, I have seen this plane many times in the air around the area in which I live and it is HUGE.
"What if the wings snapped off?" The wings are force-tested to destruction on the ground on other copies of the plane, so they know the wings can take many times more stress than they put on them in the air.
Fantastically more powerful, quieter, and even more efficient GE, Rolls-Royce, you got rick-rolled. I would be seriously concerned if an A380 did any of these maneuvers at maximum weight, so concerned I wouldn't be there. Think how many times this airframe has bee certified since the first in 1971?
The Boeing 747 has been, and still remains, the most beautiful Passenger aircraft in the world. Bar none. We have all seen the Airbus A380, inside and out. We have seen its capabilities and interiors and the whole deal. But is there really anyone out there that can say with a straight face that the A380 looks more beautiful than the Boeing 747? Okay, if you were a Limey or a Frog, from the EU, you might say the AirBus is #1. But, we know that would not be the reality. 747 Rules the skies!
KyKatRo That was my go to assumption... but im not sure how they would "exit" lol (yeah I thought about it a little too much) The reason I say that is unless they were able to get the plane at a jumpable height and speed, opening an emergency door would just suck them all out and to my knowledge, there's no rear hatch door. Ahhhh I wanna know!! hahaha!
im sure after years of the 747 being in service, and definitely during initial development in the 60/70s, they had a specific range of Gs for the aircraft to be able to handle so they wouldnt overdo any type of G test on this flight
the airframe has probably been tested in computer modeling over and over + Maybe miniature wings or airframes in a high speed wind tunnel and sensor will of course register over loading of the wings before they will be damaged
@MrCriticOfAll Qantas pilots don't call them Scarebuses. It's known as the A180. You bring it out of maintenance and then do a 180 degree turn to tow it back into maintenance. Dispatch reliability of the A180's is woeful at best, and after the engine malfunction last year it looks like Nancy Bird Walton may be written off as it's proving difficult to get a dispensation to allow it to fly to Toulouse where both wings need replacement.
They say it can fit the same amount of people but remember that the 380 has two floors and not one and 1/3 like the 747 so that would be VERY uncomfortable to seat 500+ in one 747... I bit of greed from airlines in order to maximize but I its not nearly as big as the 380 I flew in it last week and truly its HUGE. :)
during test flights gear stays down, and they were probably testing the limits of the flaps and stalling with spoilers. I dunno, they are pushing the plane to its limit though
Fortunately I had the opportunity on July 25 to be in the plant of the Boeing Everett Tour the foundation of the future of the factory of Boeing, which saw the construction of the B787; B777 and B737 freighter, of which I am very proud because in calendas flew past the B720, B707 and Boeing 727-200 of this great American company for commercial aircraft. ASD
@Boeing I have a question to go against the A380 are you planning for a new aircraft .or you could have extended the upper deck of the 747 all the way down the plane
The A380 is bigger in terms of seating, it carries about 500 whereas the 747-8 carries about 450-467 passengers. However, the 747-8 is longer and more fuel efficient.
The A380 has more mass, making it be the biggest passenger airplane in the world. However, the Boeing 747-8 is the biggest airplane made in the U.S.A. (Airbus is a European company) Also something to know is that the 747-8 is a fair amount bigger in length than the A380. This all comes to the question- What is THE biggest airplane in the world, not just passenger airplane? The answer to that would be the Russian-Ukrainian Antonov AN-225 Freighter.
Kyle Rider hi a riden here its got to be an expierience to o this typ of stuff in such a large craft i have lb piston popoer for this type of stuff can we go on the ride again willbur an orvill?? its called danceing with the anglles sine the first flight in france mid maybe lone way foo a silk balloon with a pot belly stove gracious flight
Wrong. The A380 can carry more freight too if Airbus would make a freighter version. The A380 can hold 184 m3 of freight while the boeing can hold 161.5 m3.
Alexis Carrington-Colby State of the art modern aircrafts have time and again breached the 'failsafe' system and i do not know how you can say 'they are prepared for such a situation'. Need not look further than engineering errors and also airline policy. For example, some video in here shows how an airline would recommend not loading the fuel tank in full resulting in vapour emanating from shallow fuel inside the tank coupled with sparks from worn-out copper insulation in the wiring beneath the tank which resulted in a 747 blown to smithereens in mid-air. So if something does go wrong I hope aviation industry/engineers would come up with something which would meaningfully tackle the current threats and make air travel a lot safer than it is now.
+flameout12345 It can. When flying through heavy turbulence, pilots reduce the speed so when encountering a heavy updraft that increases the angle of attack (and thus lift) the wing stalls due to too low speed so the additional load doesn't rip it off. And a China Airlines Boeing 747SP once prooved that it can handle abuse up to 6Gs and stil land safely (look up China Airlines Flight 006).
Why strap in omg just fly for a moment! The clap on the ground would be totally worth it. But much respect to the engineers while actually so many things can go wrong,
+Imad Zeryouh Because then you drift up to the ceiling, hit your head and hurt for month afterwards, Ask Larry Carlyle (aka Larry Poppins) of Pratt&Whitney about his first test flight in 1980 :) The oxygen tank drifting down the aisle of RA001 was scarier, though.
That shark (known as Sharky) first flew on the Flight Load Survey of the 777 ( many times at negative g) and since has "flown" on 737-700, 737BBJ, 787-8, 747-8F (as shown here), 787-9, KC-46A and most recently on 737-8MAX. I have been with it on all but one of those airplanes (I am the one sitting at the station where Sharky is tethered). That shark (and myself) have seen -0.8g's and up to 2.94g's. It is the most fun aspect of my job. While we do have a good time (not everyone, as doing 4 hours of it leaves many a barf bag full) it is serious work in the validation of a new airplane and safety is our number one thought.
did anyone else see that levitating shark

@HDaviator Good memory ... this is actually an update to a video we posted a couple months ago.
Ok... I just found another profession I will never consider. Amazingly beautiful plane though!
khmer voa

What's that thing trailing behind the vertical stabilizer ?
What happens if the worst happens and these tests fail?!? what happens to the test passengers/pilots? How are they to survive?
I believe they have parachutes. However, I am not an expert, so I don't know.
+Danella Cullen the simply jump out and let the plane rash like gta
+Ap0calypse HD they*
Ap0calypse HD well hopefully they have the infinite life/invincibility cheat activated so they can just pop back up and be about their business!! LoL!
im sure after years of the 747 being in service, and definitely during initial development in the 60/70s, they had a specific range of Gs for the aircraft to be able to handle so they wouldnt overdo any type of G test on this flight
The wing flex is awesome!
This is why Boeing is the best in the skies.
The Boeing 747-8I is not as big as the Airbus A-380, "The Spruce Goose", or the Antonow An-225. But it's still pretty impressive.
I love Boeing!!! I so want to be a pilot and fly a 777!!
Oh my god i love this plane! Someday I will be in the flight deck, then it will be my baby!:)
0:53 can't get over him saying that with the background lol

Can anyone explain me what's the reason to design that hedge of the engines in such a strange way? Reducing drag/noise?
Is there anything done like this for the passenger version??
How many Gs of lift will it take to break the wings on a 747 and is it even possible to reach such condition e.g. a dive with a sudden pull up.
They say it can fit the same amount of people but remember that the 380 has two floors and not one and 1/3 like the 747 so that would be VERY uncomfortable to seat 500+ in one 747... BOEING!!! Numero Uno in airplane building.
| WRONG |
I have an idea for the design of the 747-9 already! Reply, and I'll tell you... Hint: it involves a feature the 777X will have!
I wonder if they sell this Aircraft. Just interested to know what happens to it after all the tests have finished.
Cool! But why are the flaps, spoliers, and landing gear all down in the animations showing the airframe performing maneuvers?
during test flights gear stays down, and they were probably testing the limits of the flaps and stalling with spoilers. I dunno, they are pushing the plane to its limit though
How many feet is this???

Тест Boeing 747-8F, по моему всем понравилось:)...
gorgeous airplane!
Any power difference between 747 8f and 747 8Continental with concern of power?
@Boeing I have a question to go against the A380 are you planning for a new aircraft .or you could have extended the upper deck of the 747 all the way down the plane

They did a test on the ground where they snapped the wing off..... Sure you can find it on here
nice flight sim
747 all the way!!
bonito e impresionante avion
how did they not get sick?

+Ralph Riden noted rather a Rollercoaster on the ground
CEO of Airbus disliked this video.
on 0.56 second there was an accident which been censored..watch carefully
an object hit the head of one test engineers
Now if only they can install parachutes on them! ;p
Any specific problems?
haha flying shark at 0:38
Awesome video! I luv the 747! Liked! :)
yeah what was that for???
What if the plane breaks up in mid air isn't that kind of dangerous to put people in there while testing the aircraft?
Even though it says it not fun it looks like fun! Just look at their faces!!
that looks like fun....
Wrong. The A380 can carry more freight too if Airbus would make a freighter version. The A380 can hold 184 m3 of freight while the boeing can hold 161.5 m3.
👏👏👏👏👍👍👍me encanta la tecnología!! 😂

Alexia TINOKO ZALAZAR
It looks really cool.
Excelentes e impresionantes. todos los modelos.
What if the wings snapped off?
the airbus a380 didn't have to do these tests??????
it would probably break anyway.
What if something went wrong ?
well its on them isn't it.

Why isn't this wonderful plane being sold? Boeing has an order for one on the books. That is it. One. Am I missing something here?
As of October 2014 there were 119 orders including 68 for the 747-8F shown in the video, and 78 have been delivered including 54 were 747-8Fs.
Mnl!l,...

next time you do a flight like this, plz contact me, im pretty sure u guyz put dead weight on that plane and i wudnt mind my weight on it!
I saw my Dell Precision M2400 in there...
they have a fun job
So...what happens if they push it a little too far? lol
"Not for the faint of heart."
I guess they mean, It's the largest plane they have ever built ... :)
The airplane is nowhere close to breaking apart. They are operating well within it's operational capabilities.
Man that would be scary to know your the pilot and testing the planes limits. 5-12-13
@HalomasterA69 ALL THE BEST IN YOUR FUTURE ENDEARVOUR, MAY U FULFILL YIUR WISHES
@Boeing A380 might be the biggest plane, but i don't care.Airbus will never manage to sell as much as 747,or will never look as good as 747 ;)
i want to go on one,,, can you drink coffee on the flight
Airplane on a Roller Coaster Rides i hope they ate really lite or nothing at all with this experiments.
Great stuff !
No. The A380 is the biggest in passenger wise, and the Boeing 747 in size.
They only test up to 2g i thought it can handle going through a storm
+flameout12345 It can. So, how many times did he say "the magic of flight" ?
Very impressive! Nice
Wait...did he say the wings are bending to a visible degree?? Count me out.
+boss mctroll A lot of planes do that on normal flights
That's the exact reason I avoid Scarebuses.
0:55 falling vest
imagine the wing snaps.....
ALL NEW BOEING 747-8F ROLLER COASTER ONLY RANGING FROM $500 TO $2000!
don't hold the wings the way you do with your offices
Why strap in omg just fly for a moment! The clap on the ground would be totally worth it. But much respect to the engineers while actually so many things can go wrong,

Tim Jordan Hahaha
I want to do this, u can research how bad flying affects teens
I'd have to insist on an ejection cabin or better.
lol what if they push it too far and it breaks what do you do LOL panic
Even the A380 isn't the biggest plane. There is 1 more plane that is even bigger.
If I had it to do over again, I'd be Boeing engineer!
so impressive
748 is longest and A388 is biggest PASSENGER.
They said it was the largest aircraft BOEING ever built.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
