  • The first photo was taken in early November and the second in late November 2016, both on the Chiltern Track, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, NSW. The video footage was taken at the same time as the first photo. Note that the orbital rings change from blue-grey to deep maroon or red during the breeding season.

The lovely calls of this species bring back so many memories for a Canadian who loves Australia and has traveled there for several years.

I love these doves. they're very shy around my area and are hard to get good footage of. Their call is always some of the nicest to here at my place as well in the mornings. lovely footage of it and the plumage in that light is magnificent to see. =)

I have been wondering what bird it was as I hear him often early in the morning and late afternoon, when it is very quiet. Love that sound. What is the other bird you hear in the distance, as I always hear that one too at the same time. you can hear him at about 32 /42 seconds into the video.

The other bird is a Pied Currawong. Thank you for sharing your experience.
