  • In this era of healthcare reform, GBMC is moving toward a patient-centered, evidence-based medicine model where physicians and care teams focus on a patient's overall wellness and long-term care rather than episodic care. To accomplish this, we are making significant investments in healthcare information technology (EMR, CPOE) and are building a network of hospital and community-based healthcare providers (GBHA) to deliver integrated and coordinated care.
We are moving into the future with renewed energy and increasing insight and have adopted a new vision:
"To every patient, every time, we will provide the care that we would want for our own loved ones."

I needed to watch this. My son is 1 years old and he will be getting his cochlear implant next week.

Good job. Give your child every opportunity and ignore the nonsense from the deaf community. Deafness IS A DISABILITY that modern medical technology can help to alleviate. It's miraculous!

Hi there, how was his surgery and post surgery? My 1.5 year old son will be getting his CI next month, and I am quite worried and not sure what to expect.

@blackalien6873 wow how ignorant of you! I work with a deaf child with 2 cochlear implants, even with these he totally relies on sign. He doesn't fit in with the hearing world because doesn't know what people are saying and they don't understand his speech. Many hearing people don't allow their deaf children to sign and they end up isolated with mental health issues. Cochlear implants are not a fix, you are still deaf!

Mary's a really empathetic interviewer - seems like she listens well, remembers the details of what the guests have said and asks great follow-up q'n

What cochlear implant brand she used?

Ask Patrick Costello about how Cochlear should honor their customer service commitments. Hopefully publicly they will make things right. If they don't, then I wouldn't do business with them.
Good companies don't leave patients "high and dry" without the ability to hear. How good is a cure if it's not supported?

It’s not a cure and implants don’t work for everyone

Yes, there not too much shaving going on at all during the surgery, and after you can let it grow
