Well, a 6-year-old doesn't just roll up to the gun shop, plop down a debit card, and strolls out with a gun. So the parent/parents should be held responsible.

The only way to be sure that our kids cannot commit such acts is to home-school them, and lock them in their rooms. Is that what we should advocate? Sometimes, even the best parents have a child that does something completely contrary to their upbringing. It's called "free will". (In this specific case, the parents absolutely have culpability in what happened, and should be charged)

    • @sharonpopolow6874
      @sharonpopolow6874 Год назад +10

@@moniqueuu8777 This case is different. It's the age of the student who committed the act and the fact that the gun came from the home, the mother being the legal owner. One thing the news constantly brings up is: this case is unprecedented, meaning we've never encountered a 6 year old child ever coming to school with a gun and shooting some one. Who's responsible?
Ok, no one on Earth will say, yeah lock up the boy! That's crazy. Ok, then where did the boy get the gun? Has there been prior ongoing behavior problems that everyone should have been on alert for or taken precautions with? Everything started at home. The mother was aware of violent tendencies and emotional disorders. Yet, somehow that gun was in a place where the boy got ahold of it to take to school. A teacher was shot. Others could have been shot. People could have died.
And it's not just the mother- it's the school administration and staff who were negligent, too. So, even though the problem started with the parent, it ended with school negligence. They need to join mom in the cell and all be tried together for this case. All these people failed that boy and that teacher, and also that entire class and the other teacher who ran in to help.
All of the other school shootings were done by older students (teens) or adults returning to their school with weird vendettas. That's why parents weren't brought into it... but maybe they should!

After like age 12 their parents didn't know where they were most of the day, you were expected to be out after breakfast or at school time and home by dinner and basically work everything out for yourself. I'm not saying it's better or worse, obviously no one can parent like that now, but the idea that hands off parenting is NEW or even exists as a general rule is just wrong. The 90s had constant moral panics over nothing, maybe that's what you recall as "good parenting". Now, parents have to panic about real stuff.

This shouldn't be shocking to anyone. What should be shocking is that the mother wasn't arrested and held with the first complaint that her child had her gun. After that it is the responsibility of every adult that knew up to the shooting. A different story, earlier, said that the school administration had been told a couple of times that the child had a gun. Get charges on each of them. The police do not need to wait until someone is shot to investigate. The more adults charged the less likely another adult will allow the same thing to happen next time.

I think many of them would be surprised how involved it is. They would be shocked to understand that you are not just having a kid who goes to soccer games and watches tv, you are actually responsible for creating a free thinking human being destined to make good judgements about their life and others they encounter. It is a job, an active job, and one that, if people understood the expectations of, they would probably decline.

Putting him in foster care would not help him at all and honestly I wouldn't foster him a child that young with that much hate in his heart no way! His future is not looking very good at all! This entire case is so terrible! And your right if he didn't have access to that gun the shooting wouldn't have happened but like I said he has hate in his heart he would've tried something else and as time goes by he would get more and more hatred and something worse could happen like shooting up the whole school!

If a person is intelligent enough to determine that they want to change their sex then they are smart enough to lnow that it is wrong to shoot someone.
The person doing the shooting should be held accountable for their actions along with the person who provided the gun.

The administration KNEW the kid had a gun and did nothing.
Teachers should be calling 9-1-1, not their bosses for these kinds of things.

😮The former principal is filing a counter suit!!?! Against who? The teacher that was shot? Something’s not right about that.😮

Yep. Both the parents AND that school supervisor (priciple?) are culpable. Imagine 2 or 3 different people telling her that a 6 year old kid has a gun and has been threatening other kids with it on the playground and the person in charge basically saying, "No biggie. School will be out soon for today." WTH! And that kid sounds like an utter nightmare. He didn't get that way in a vacuum.

The charges are too lenient. She should spend at least one decade in prison and the father should've been charged too

Why was this child allowed to go to this school if he’s so disruptive, that he can only attend if a parent is to sit with him the entire time he’s there , l don’t understand that ,please explain.

So she figured out that her child had the gun.
She phoned the school to inform those that needed to know.
The school failed to check the child's backpack.
    So who's culpable?

Everyone played their role in this teachers' pain and suffering, from the negligent mother, to the laxed school officials. All are responsible, and all should be accountable in compensation process; whatever that entails. PERIOD!

Including the teacher who wa injured should be responsible too. A little child with a gun should have been easily noticeable.
