- 25-year-old Deja Taylor is the first person charged in connection to the shooting at Richneck Elementary School back on January 6. Taylor is the mother of the 6-year-old boy who police say shot his teacher Abby Zwerner. Taylor now faces felony child neglect and a misdemeanor charge.

Well, a 6-year-old doesn't just roll up to the gun shop, plop down a debit card, and strolls out with a gun. So the parent/parents should be held responsible.
Agreed. And a 6-year-old usually doesn't learn that if you have a problem with someone, pick up a loaded gun and go take care of it.

Good, it's about time that teacher got some type of justice. The mother of the six-year-old is both a negligent parent and an irresponsible gun owner.

The things that are dismissed in school these days is disgusting. Our schools are at such high risk, you would think being told multiple times a student has a gun should be immediately deemed a school emergency and protocols should absolutely be put into place .

Exactly. He didn't get that rage from nowhere besides the obvious of never should have had access to a gun in the first place. When I was around his age I has serious anger issues and I also lived in a violent and chaotic household where I saw violence and was gaslighted about what I saw and heard nearly on the daily. Thank God I have shed the level of rage I had, but looking back I see how my home environment was grooming me into be coming a sociopath.
As parents, we are responsible for our kids.
Not always! But leaving a gun available for a deranged child is inexcusable.
Ultimately we are all responsible for our own actions.

We need to start holding all these parents accountable for their kids actions simple as that. And it should not be a misdemeanor.
Whoever legally owns a gun used should always be charged! If someone got ahold of your gun then you’re too irresponsible to own one!!
The only way to be sure that our kids cannot commit such acts is to home-school them, and lock them in their rooms. Is that what we should advocate? Sometimes, even the best parents have a child that does something completely contrary to their upbringing. It's called "free will". (In this specific case, the parents absolutely have culpability in what happened, and should be charged)
No one said this with these school shooters until now ..........
@@moniqueuu8777 This case is different. It's the age of the student who committed the act and the fact that the gun came from the home, the mother being the legal owner. One thing the news constantly brings up is: this case is unprecedented, meaning we've never encountered a 6 year old child ever coming to school with a gun and shooting some one. Who's responsible?
Ok, no one on Earth will say, yeah lock up the boy! That's crazy. Ok, then where did the boy get the gun? Has there been prior ongoing behavior problems that everyone should have been on alert for or taken precautions with? Everything started at home. The mother was aware of violent tendencies and emotional disorders. Yet, somehow that gun was in a place where the boy got ahold of it to take to school. A teacher was shot. Others could have been shot. People could have died.
And it's not just the mother- it's the school administration and staff who were negligent, too. So, even though the problem started with the parent, it ended with school negligence. They need to join mom in the cell and all be tried together for this case. All these people failed that boy and that teacher, and also that entire class and the other teacher who ran in to help.
All of the other school shootings were done by older students (teens) or adults returning to their school with weird vendettas. That's why parents weren't brought into it... but maybe they should!
And then the aunts, uncles, grandparents, everyone and thing but the guns themselves. 😂
Accountability... All parents should be held accountable for their children's actions.
Yup. While they are still a minor, any criminal activity they are charged for or commit should be put on the parent as well.
Who knows? It might make parents want to actually start teaching their kids morals, considering how uninvolved parents are nowadays.
With a limit. There comes a time when a child does make decisions for themselves no matter how well or bad they're raised. I say 18 and above on the kid
Then we need go go back and charge ALL school shooter parents.

Who looks inside their kid’s bag every morning? Makes me think you probably don’t actually have kids
What do you mean "the new brand of parent"? Have you never talked to anyone who grew up in the 70s and 80s? After like age 12 their parents didn't know where they were most of the day, you were expected to be out after breakfast or at school time and home by dinner and basically work everything out for yourself. I'm not saying it's better or worse, obviously no one can parent like that now, but the idea that hands off parenting is NEW or even exists as a general rule is just wrong. The 90s had constant moral panics over nothing, maybe that's what you recall as "good parenting". Now, parents have to panic about real stuff.
The school 100% needs to be held accountable. Administration needs to realize that they can be held accountable for their policies and procedures, and to stop blaming teachers for everything that goes wrong, when they set their own teachers up for failure!

When they are held responsible and can be charged in some cases and even if it is only requiring them to come into classes with them it will start making a difference. This should happen no matter the socioeconomic status of the parents. The school authorities should also be charged for ignoring the reports, from the teacher that was shot,of other students reporting he had the pistol.

This shouldn't be shocking to anyone. What should be shocking is that the mother wasn't arrested and held with the first complaint that her child had her gun. After that it is the responsibility of every adult that knew up to the shooting. A different story, earlier, said that the school administration had been told a couple of times that the child had a gun. Get charges on each of them. The police do not need to wait until someone is shot to investigate. The more adults charged the less likely another adult will allow the same thing to happen next time.
Because of criminals within government and the injustice system, the function of law enforcement is no longer to prevent crimes, but to make a report after if happens, mostly for insurance and legal purposes... that is literally 90% of police function today.

Violent people you mean, I suppose. There is no evidence that people with disabilities are more likely to commit crimes, in fact, probably a lot of evidence that they are more likely to be victims. I doubt this kid had a disability in the usual sense (like dyslexia or autism), it's more likely he was abused and/or neglected, sexually assaulted, and witnessed violence. This is a very bizarre act for such a young child. Not exactly unheard of, but pretty bizarre. He apparently did have (already a violent history).
Can't believe it's taken authorities this long to arrest and charge the mother. Someone needs to look into her even more as what was possess a 6 year old to want to shoot their teacher? Mother must have done something horrible to raise such a child.
Only in America will a deadbeat parent file a lawsuit against an entity for their own failure, not only as a parent, but as a human being.

So when an under 18 year old kills multiple people: no charges. Nobody dies: throw the book at the mother. What makes this one different?
The kid was so violent and totally out of control that a parent was required to accompany him to school every day, and these parents decide it's a good thing to have a gun in the home. Said gun was not 'secured', or the child wouldn't have gotten hold of it. Why did the parents send the child to school alone, and why did the school allow him to be there alone? Knowing the history of this child, why did the admin ignore the threat reports? Awful lot of serious questions here, and no good answers for any of them.
Why am i only hearing about this on RUclips and hearing absolutely nothing about this on major national news outlets ??
If parents were charged for every crime their minor offspring committed they would think differently about what it actually means to be a parent. I think many of them would be surprised how involved it is. They would be shocked to understand that you are not just having a kid who goes to soccer games and watches tv, you are actually responsible for creating a free thinking human being destined to make good judgements about their life and others they encounter. This should happen in every case of a juvenile commiting a crime. You'd see how quickly these single mothers would stop their kids from running the streets once they were made culpable for their children's actions.
Something doesn't sound right here.
What kind of a beef does a six-year-old have against their teacher that would provoke them to bring a gun to school and shoot her in the first place?!?!
I pray she (the teacher) gets every penny too👍🏾✝️💚❤️
Unfortunately the money won't come from the mother but as usual, tax payers
Or maybe from insurance the school has.

Well then it’s definitely not gonna happen since your imaginary friend Sky Daddy isn’t real
@@TomSmith-ll2lp You talk about God as though he's some genie in a bottle who gives believers whatever they want no matter what.
It's about time the worthless mother is held responsible. This was absolutely ridiculous.
Why would you call the mother worthless what about the father he needs to be held responsible also and you don’t know what that mother is going through she could have that gun because she is a security officer you never know so stop judging

@@bhall4996 Exactly where is the father????????
@@williamparker7025 Riiiight…. and if she hadn’t kept it she’d probably be called a murderer by people like you. And how is she supposed to know her baby will grow up to shoot people? Should all babies be *borted just in case they turn out to be violent?? Have a word with yourself, mate.
Why was this child allowed to go to this school if he’s so disruptive, that he can only attend if a parent is to sit with him the entire time he’s there , l don’t understand that ,please explain.
What contributed to this is that there was a care plan in place, that they didn’t follow, and they didn’t listen to the teacher(s) concerns, and act on them.
I'm having such a hard time imagining a 6 year old taking a gun to school and actually holding that gun up being able to actually hit a target. A SIX YEAR OLD!! Blows my mind
This is in part enabled buy reduced size handguns for conceal and carry market.
"Guns don't kill" but bullets traveling at high velocities tearing flesh and shattering bones will. A trigger is easy to press. Americans own billions of weapons these days. How can any person endanger their love ones and others by leaving an unlock gun laying around?

Bcuz mommy filled the kids tiny brain with hate & lies about anyone in some sort of authority. Cops too
He is a mentally disturbed child and should be locked up with his mom!!
It's not unheard of
Make examples of all of them! It won't be the last time we hear of this kid
ikr, when he turns 18 hes gonna do a Uvalde thing and kill so many inocent people.
The seeds of hate and violence were planted at a very early age. He's already acting out and will always be a menace to society.
The school needs to face consequences also. They were informed multiple times and could have done something to prevent the situation!
What I want to know is why they were supposed to attend school with him every day.
About time someone is held accountable. Come on America wake up.
Ha haa😅😅😅😅😅
Even if/when she's a better parent, or even went to go live with his dad, this is not the last time he will get into trouble.
What did the teacher do that made the kid angry enough to want her shot?
Seek competent professional mental health care.
The IEP stated that a parent or grandparent had to be with the child, while attending classes. No one was present. That child never should've been in class unaccompanied.
It’s about time.
Why no picture of the parents
You know why.
Because it would then become a racial issue, and the black lives matter people would start up again.
We wouldn't want facts to perpetuate stereotypes, now would we?
The pictures are out...watch a more recent report.
so sad 😢
Parents should be held accountable 100% being a primary child giver we should know what are children are doing especially at such a young age
omg human's need to have someone to blame has gotten out of pocket.
