Hello Joe and Elly I could not agree more, the last few weeks it seemed like one big cloud and forever, great to see you guys, and enjoyed this as always, all the best you too!
Feels like autumn is just gonna roll in swiftly and then winter will be here before we know what’s happened 😔 Hoping it doesn’t affect the inspiration and motivation too much 🤞
Watching your lovely VLOG always makes me feel soothed and relaxed. Your concept of enjoying your hometown like a traveler is very nice. I am looking forward to your VLOG in the future. thank you.
I’ve just come back from London and went up the Sky Garden which I found disappointing. But also visited One New Change rooftop terrace and although the views aren’t panoramic the view of St Paul’s Cathedral was worth it. Got there at 9:30 am and was the only one there 👍🏻
Ah shame you were disappointed with the Sky Garden. Luckily it’s free to go up, so no expense lost. Haven’t been up One New Change but will check it out ✌️
loved this the views from the shard looked insane i might have to get a pass even though i live in Norwich and in London a few weekends every couple of months
Now that’s my kind of vlog😀👍🏻 Got the shard pass for £38 when they did Black Friday last year but still haven’t collected and activated it🤷🏼♂️Not been to that new Skylight tho, nice views 👍🏻 I’m not quite a solar panel myself as after a full day I’m dead and in bed straight when I get home 🤣 Finding the vantage point first when visiting a new city is also my number 1 thing to do to get my bearings of the place too. Looking forward to more of your skyline vlogs 👍🏻
@@joeallam back in 2016, they were doing funny sales like first 2016 people to buy the annual pass get it for £20.16 but I think that stopped in 2018 and they raised the price significantly
Brilliant pictures from Shard, you are very talented. I have taken some pictures in Shard last month when was really sunny but have a lot of glass glare on them! Any tips how to remove the glare? Thank you
Cheers! It’s definitely tricky to avoid glare, but some best tips are to wear all black clothing, get as close to the window and possible and close out any light comping from the side and behind with something like a coat. Sometimes it’s just unavoidable though. The shard in particular has two layer of glass with quite a gap between them, so you’ll always have light enter.
Possible dumb question but what is that your using on the end of the lens at 12:13? Is it to prevent glare and reflection? I presume they don't allow tripods up there?
3:47 "I hate to be that British guy who talks about the weather." British people do love to comment about the weather, aren't they. "What a lovely weather we have today, innit?" 🤣
Have you tried the "Enhance" tool in lightroom? It helps a lot with fuji RAF files (only if not converted to dng) And I don't mean super resolution, only enhance. Unfortunately increases the file sizes by a factor of 5 though
I used it a little when it was first introduced to good effect. Most of my frustrations though are more on Lightroom’s interpretations of the film simulations vs. Capture One’s and also the performance of editing X-Trans images vs. Bayer images such as from my Canon. It just desperately needs a good overhaul, or new Lightroom CC needs better file organisation/control.
would love a vlog where you just shoot film (maybe rent a medium format camera or buy a cheap point&shoot) and then get them developed and edit them in lightroom with your current presets or so
🌞 I am a solarpanel! :D Yup! I suffer from the darkness of finnish winter. Glad I can now work from home and get way more light in the room and also go out during lunch break!. Nothing is as depressing as seeing from a window way too far away that the sun is up at noon and when you leave from work the sun is already down.
NOTE ON SOMETHING TO SAID :- If you do get a scanner please do a video. I get a scanner years ago for my B+W negs but was never happy with the results. I think you would go a great video.
When you take photos from the top are they drone shots or do you take special permission to get to the roofs of the skyscrapers. Also, if you are taking pictures from the rooftops are they private buildings that you have access to?
Where can I buy this thing, you used for your lens at 12:13 to avoid reflections? Or please tell me how this thing is called, I can't find it anywhere :(
Interesting tip, I have only been up the Shard once so far, have to look into that, right coffee and tits, blues tits my little birds in my jungle garden lol lol
Yes I know the feeling Joe, it's going to be tough one for sure, but we will prevail, the drive to work this morning is fun with all the rain and mist on the top of the hill :)
Haha! I thought the exact same thing. Seems like a lot of active competition to make the tallest/fastest building lately. Since Googling, I’ve realised the Moscow skyline has some very interesting architecture I’d love to capture!
Very enjoyable video, Joe. And your beautiful partner, Ellie, adds a lovely feminine touch. The 11:02 - 11:05 segment is a little unfortunate given the proximity to the 9/11 date.

Absolutely stunning shots of the Tower Bridge! I made a note to visit the Shard next year when I visit from the US. Great video, Joe.
Those photos! Once again, so so good! 🔥 Keep up the great work.
And I really like it when it's moody. But sometimes I need the sun to recharge, too.
Cheers! I’m glad with how the light played out in the end and happy to see others feeling the same about recharging ✌️
What great shots you got from the Shard! Will have to head up there if I get to come to London soon! Great vid as always 🎉
Cheers! London’s skyline is changing dramatically and luckily we now have multiple clusters to focus on ✌️
Very nice photos and the city is looking beautiful. Great video as always!
11:50 - my favourite!
Cheers! Definitely the most abstract of all of the shots - I want to go back and get the same in daytime...
Thanks Jo and Elly

Oof, that’s a pretty great price! Had no idea they’d get involved with Black Friday sales…

Amazing, I love photos from Shard very much. Did the security let you to use lens skirt and tripod please.?

Wow Joe’s hitting South London. Welcome

Yes it is! And no, you tripods are not allowed there. But I'd like to know where I can buy this thing.
Paying to go up an office block is outrageous!

@@joeallam Ohhh that makes sense. I thought that it was just my pc's age showing. Since switching from nikon to fuji my computer seems so much slower

would love to see joe shooting some portra 400 or so at one point even if it’s just for one video
Defo a solar panel as well 😂 grey sky just makes me grumpy to go out and shoot
We gotta form some sort of national grid for weather related inspiration and motivation 👊
When you get the hang of C1, you will be so much faster than Lightroom

Grey summer. You're not wrong Joe
Honestly it’s been like one giant grey blanket, right?!

I too am a solar panel.

Clark Kent / Superman / Kal El got his energy from the sun.

It really has been terrible weather, literally killed the mood to shoot
Such a buzzkill for sure 😔
8:12 what is going on in russia?

First!
Joe….people want to see tokyo.
✌️
So do I! The borders are still very strictly shut at the moment though 😔
In your pieces to camera, you blink a lot. Like, more than I’ve ever seen a blinker before. Non stop
