Thanks, I am working on a video about vibration in the gyro data and how to filter it for your video. Its been a super great learning experience for me and I don't think I've seen this info in other places. Hopefully soon.
Great vid. Gyro Bias is such an important setting, lot's of people seem not to use it/adjust it properly and their footage is just super jittery. For quadcopter footage at least, I found the lowpass can be lowered to around 25Hz for better results. Unfortunately I am a bit disappointed with the Runcam Thumb - the Bitrate is just not enough for 1080p footage...
Nice tutorial! I'm struggling to see the benefit of gf on my copter with thumb. I will try the gyro bias setting and lower lowpass hz. And more syncpoints. I also tried to apply the gyro data of thumb to the video of my airunit recording. Thumb would maybe be good for a gyro logger (because even my dvr footage looks better than thumb ;) on small planes the thumb video actually looks kinda nice. It's the niche for thumb maybe . Thanks and greets, Mario
I was still also having problems with jello as you can see in the video. I went into my blackbox logs and I have a wide band of 90hz-110Hz noise. I think its the mount for the thumb on my frame. Anyways, I did some tuning and its way way better. I am thinking about doing another video to talk about jello. Yes you can use the ND filter etc. but if you can get rid of the vibration noise in your build and the tune, then you don't have to work so hard with the ND filter.
@@cagmuer Sure - a vibration free frame would always be ideal (I think this is also the idea behind Chris Rossers frames) - but most of my many copters have them and I'm too lazy to tune them meticuosly to get a good image. NDs help a bit - but best solution is the pixel-shift anti-jello magic which gopro introduced sind hypersmooth and the gopro7. Now I want this tech in a 50$ 10gr cam - is this asking too much already? ;)
@@Rcschim Gyroflow supports pixel shifting to help with jello and it works great with GoPro as I use it with my Hero6 all the time. See my other video to see the thumb video quality on my 95x whoop ( ruclips.net/video/bRLpzzIxucc/видео.html ) and I can't wait to edit the video from my cleaned up tune. Maye this weekend.
@@cagmuer i watch all video bro that amazing tutorial. But i just wanna know that you used ND filter for this footage and may i know you runcam thumb setting not gyroflow setting. 😊 Thank you so much 😊
Thanks for the video, great help. Have you ever tried taking a video with the drone in position hold of a scene for 15 seconds? I get shimmer no mater how I set gyroflow. It seems to accur when the quadcopter is tilting up and down and not vibration from the drone as I have the camera mounted on soft rubber. The shimmer is not noticeable when in motion. Any ideas?
So the small cameras have very low weight and so even when soft mounted they can vibrate. So maybe in you case you strap or tape it to your battery, a bit heavy object on your drone. That's one of the reasons why GoPro can be more stable, they are much heavier. So you can replicate this with the mass of your battery
Great question. For this video I taped it to the top. Very temporary. But since then I started working on a flush mount from a 3D print in TPU. I haven't finished it yet.
@@cagmuer Please let me know when you finish the mount I have a dart250g and just recently purchased a Heewing T1 Ranger. which there's a ton of mounts for that plane for the thumb but for some reason not a lot for the 250g. There's this one that is a saddle that clamps around the leading edge of the wings.
Best video yet showing stabilization. Ordered my Thumb today.
Thanks. I ordered a second one since I smashed my first one. Luckily I was able to glue it back together but its nice having a backup.
Thanks a lot, buddy! Your tutorial videos have been super helpful. Hope you stay healthy and keep making awesome, useful content in the future! 🎉🎉
I was having trouble running GyroFlow but his vide solves those problems. Thank You.

For sure I could see that for quads. I need to experiment more with them to see what options might help more. But the plane footage turned out great.
Take a look at this Runcam Thumb footage and let me know what you think

great, thanks
Glad you got something from it.
Liked and subbed.
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Does that applies to the new Pro V2?
Yes and the current version of Gyroflow is even more stable. I now run 500 points all the time now
What is yours hw config and OS at 60 fps encoding please?

Nice bro. May i know you runcam thumb setting? Do you used the nd filter?
Yeah, see that last image in my video where I have circles drawn around all the settings. Copy those settings. I hope it works well for your video.

Smooth in this camera does not work, the image is shaking, set smooth in 0.0
Correct, the smoothing has to be done later using gyroflow.
