One thing to remember with the Rebel on highways: the sixth gear is an overdrive meant for driving at constant speed for fuel economy. For top speed and acceleration you want to drop down to fifth gear.
thats all manual vehicles
@@jasenrockno sixth has a longer gear ratio meaning it drops torque and power for better fuel economy, sixth will feel more sluggish than every other gear even in the same rev range
Well, Ive owned a Rebel 500 since 2019, and have done 17k+ miles on it. And you NEED 6th gear to reach the top speed. Its easy to top out 5th on her. But she is in a way limited to 110. You can tell there is a sudden power loss around 110-115.
@@XstonedmonkeyzX well said
at 5th need to boom up the rev before going into 6th
I bought this rebel, I love it to death, every time I get on it I fall in love. Over and Over again.
It's too much power for you.
Totally agree. Two changes I had to make to tweak it were a new Mustang seat and forward controls to move the foot controls up about 6 inches. Made her perfect and I plan to ride this bike for years.
46 years old and I've never ridden before. I plan on taking a course and eventually buying a bike. This one looks to be right up my alley. I LOVE the style. Like you said, it's a whole vibe. I can see myself riding one of these to and from work daily.
The only changes:
1.) a windshield.
2.) a tachometer.
3.) an engine guard.
4.) a different exhaust/like an arrow rebel.
5.) a better seat.
Doug 🏍️🤓😎😇
Nice little bike. Honda makes some good bikes and cars too! I had a 97 Valkyrie and loved it!! Had to sell it to pay my taxes!!! 😡😡😡 then I had a stroke a few years ago that took away my balance. Thought my ridding days were over. Then I discovered the F-3S Spyder by Can Am. No balance required! I’m back in the wind!!!! Wind therapy is a real thing, I here to tell ya!!! Love my Spyder!!!
Good for you Troy!
@@r3noob995 thank you!!!
Way to live your best life! 🫡
the production quality of this vid is top notch, very well done! :)
"Very not bad sounding exhaust" LOL
That cracked me up so hard😭
Soooo Honda... 😅
Thank you for checking out this bike and making this review for it. 👍👍💪💪💪
I have the same bike, but the base model non-abs. I love how it's super easy to use as a beginner rider.
It sure is a very good cruiser.
Thank you for the upload 🎉❤😊
OC. I think this style of cruiser is an awesome addition to the group. Also keep up the fantastic content! looked like were enjoying that Rebel.
I owned a first gen Rebel 500. It was a great bike for riding around a big city. I still regret selling it.
Always good to start my day with a first ride vid. 👍
Happy to see a good review. My rebel should arrive in april 😅
300
My dream bike. Only Honda haven't decided to bring it to my country (yet). That's what makes it the bike of my dreams, that which I can only dream of! (cries in Spanish)
O.C. I would get the rebel 1100 for myself just because I already have a 650 ninja and also because my girlfriend loves cruisers. Love the look and love that they add LEDs from the factory.
Awesome video.
I test rode the same rebel, I was very underwhelmed by it. Very tame for a beginner.
Cool seeing a cruiser in the mix ... any plans for the vulcan s? Been reeeally wanting to see you take it out for a spin and hear your thoughts.
Rebel line is fantastic.
Can we expect a Rebel 300 review as well? Thanks for the effort! Great content, OC
I got the 300 and its great even on Highway
I just bought a Rebel 500, never ridden road bikes before only dirtbikes. I’m 5’9” 150lbs, I have my temps and only ridden a few times round town for maybe an hour. I thought about a 125 or a 300. I feel like a Rebel 300’s they have to little power to comfortably ride highway speeds. I think the smallest I’d ever get on a bike would be a drz 400, or a ninja 400. I’ve was looking at other bikes before buying the 500 and this is the only bike I felt comfortable on. So for a simple, light, city/highway bike to have fun on. I love it. I might sell it in a year or two to get a bigger bike like a 600+. But so far I love the bike and I don’t plan on selling it any time soon!
I started on a CFMOTO 300ss. It was very Highway capable. It topped out at about 93. It has very good low end too. Pretty good acceleration.
watching his video ,after five years... god his accent changed, Rebel looks very nice
i love my 23 rebel id recommend it to anyone looking to cruise
I have that in matte black with bronze, deletes relocation, chin fairing, and the 1100t fairing.
Just hit 10k on my 2021 Rebel 1100. The rebel line is just fantastic and you can’t beat the reliability!
OC: I like the colour scheme for the Rebel SE. I'm not much of a cruiser guy, but definitely could see a city cruiser being a fun daily ride. Also seeing cop Chase head pop up I expected you to get pulled over again and if Yummi saw this and saw Cop Chase he'd be dying 😂😂😂
It never cease to amaze me how absolutely lovely the Rebel looks like. The only porblem there is not yet one made in adult size ;D
(Yes, it's frustrating they still making it without a tach...)
I looked at this one vs the Eliminator and went with the latter. While yes, the 180 crank doesn't sound the "best" stock, I preferred the looks and the seating position of the Eliminator much more than the rebel. It also has a tachometer and a passenger seat that can keep your butt in the seat when getting on it.
So far, nothing but compliments from other riders and people!
I have the 1100 and it has the same two problems the 500 does. That seat is not meant for long rides and that exhaust sounds like a sewing machine. People complain about how much gas it holds, but unless you riding off into nowhere, its generally fine. Swap out the first two and the bike is fun.
I stayed away from the 1100 because of the oil leaks it had. Hopefully its alm fixed by now
I am a Rebel 500 daily driver and I 100% agree with this about the seat and exhaust. I replaced my pipe and got a seat cushion. It is now the best bike I've ever owned.
Thank you for the video if I were to purchase a Honda rebel it would be the 1100. Tomorrow I will be riding this one for a friend that will be purchasing his first motorcycle
15:17 That transition was SMOOTH. I had to watch it twice. Very nice
Not a cruiser guy but if i was, the rebel would fit me. Looks lovely.
Nice review.... Mountain Motorsports, happen to be in Conyers GA? I'm looking for that exact bike!
Yep they have a conyers location!
Hey Chase what gloves are those?? Very cool
having bought it, the camera doesn't show how long it is, it seems like a small bike (which is, tbh) but the wheelbase compensate for the low seat, you'll get what I mean when you see it
I'm 6.1 260 lbs. Thinking about this for my first bike. What's your thoughts? Any advice much appreciated
You mentioned you owned a Sportster S, how would you compare the two bikes?
pls review the cfmoto 800nk
OC I have a Kawasaki Vulcan 650S more sporty than the rebel 500 it has a slightly detuned ninja engine it's alot of fun but only good for light touring or just cruising around the city
You can do 40-80 in 3 and 4 gear for best acceleration. 6 is more of an overdrive for fuel economy and cruising so of course its not responsive in 6 but plenty of passing power in 4 or 5 at highway speeds for a small-medium. I wonder if honda will launch a 750 rebel using the hornets engine? That could be sweet.
Chase please do the 1100 BUT manual one. No DCT. And compared it to the dct 1100 one that u did before.
Yo I got the same bike I always get compliments from people when I'm riding
😂 I laugh when they mistake it for a Harley
This is an extremely awesome first bike. The low torque is so much fun & the tach would be the only nice addition to have. Definitely not needed though. I own both the 1100 and 500. The 500 definitely doesn't feel like it would benefit from a rain-mode, but it would be nice to have an option to limit the engine braking and turning that option into a sport mode. Absolute joy to ride though. Skip the 300. You will want to upgrade to this in less than week and it's perfectly manageable. Awesome review Chase!
I'm debating on getting the 500 and having to worry about upgrading to the 1100 down the road. I'm a super safe driver, been driving stick for 10+yrs, did my mfs course...you think the 1100 on rain mode is do-able for a first long term bike for daily?
I’d say it depends more on your ego. If you can keep that in check you should be able to handle it.
@@life.of.hang711 - I can’t put my finger on it, but the 1100 in rain mode is a little weird starting from a stop. It seems like no matter how high revs you use, no matter how quick you can be completely off the clutch lever, the bike moves off unnaturally slow at the speed it decides vs what you are actually doing. This might be a feature of rain mode safeties though. No issues in standard or sport. It can just be a little annoying if you end up practicing on roads with some car traffic in rain mode. But when it’s really raining and cars are moving slower, I can completely see the benefit. The 1100 was my first bike and I did a lot of NJ/NY roads so experiences may vary with rain mode. At 400 miles on rain mode, I graduated to standard and rarely use sport based on where I live. The biggest hurdle was discipline to not go standard when I wasn’t ready for it yet. That moment for the change comes naturally.
@SteveySwidz okay, that's good to know. So let's just say if I were to finance a 500, and got tired of it sooner than I thought, would dealer's allow trade-ins and refinance for a 1100??
Can you review the new Kawasaki Eliminator 450?
What kind of boots you wear?
They should install a 270-degree crank on this; the only hold-up is the sound.
Cannot get used to that almost vertical tank
Fun fact, the Rebel 500 actually has the highest rated top speed of the Rebel line up. 105mph vs 99 mph for the Rebel 1100 (governed)
Do a Kawasaki Vulcan S 650 First ride, I’m interested in that bike
Excellant and very thorough reveiw.....being a 5 foot and just a tad more female, this bike is excellant for us shorter people
is that a wandrd bag you have on?
I like these but I wish they were belt drive instead of chain drive.
My fiancé and I plan on starting with the rebel series. They are great looking bikes, Honda reliability, and since my fiancé is short, the low seat height is amazing. Looking forward to more. Be safe
Can you do a royal enfield super meteor
Im hoping we see the rebel 300 get cancelled, or made for MSF only. Then have the Rebel 500 be the entry model, the 1100 be the top end, and introduce the Rebel 750, using the Transalp/Hornet motor.

Hey I’m looking for my first motorcycle and I want a middle class motorcycle I’ve rode dirt bikes and quads my options are gxsr8r and cbr650r and r7 and rs660 and I can afford all of them I will commute a little bit probably 2 or 3 days a week and I will do some weekend rides what do y’all think I should get
Oc, I want the 1100t
Great bike alternative other for harley
Please review the Honda Rebel DCT version.
Go buy a moped if you want a dct
Not bad sounding exhaust, but bad looking exhaust. Nice chill bikes tho
Cbr500r is enough for normal riding. Maybe 100mph+ get bigger engine. Knee comfort; reble, cb, cl,l....
OC: A ceuiser can be wuatever you want it to be. Just because its not a harley or an Indian it doesn't mean its not a cruiser.
I for one think of my lowered stretched, 150cc swapped ruckus as my "cruiser" because it has the vibe. Will i want to hit the highway on it, hell no, but I do love cruising around town on it.
60mpg makes for a happy rider too ❤
The front brake's effectiveness is a little scary. I'd rather not be able to hit the bar. OC.
this is beauty.
If the Rebel 500 is better for smaller novice riders, what cruisers would be optimal for taller and heavier aspiring riders?
Kawasaki elimimator
Aren't they the same size, and by that I mean dimensions?@@marke6128
How about the Kawasaki Vulcan S (650cc)
Yamaha Bolt, RE Super Meteor, or go used with a Sportster.
No Iron Butt challenge on a Rebel 500? Lol
Manufacturers must really love RUclipsrs calling bikes ‘beginner bikes’, effectively losing them sales to experienced bikers who enjoy mid-capacity bikes.
This bike looks prettier when someone's riding it
Cruiser people are just jealous that half a milk kart of an engine pulls better than their bus-glides and shit.
Why don’t they put a dct or e clutch on this thing. That’s all I want/need. I don’t need an 1100
Why dont you just learn to operate a normal motorcycle broooo
you having the word annoying in your name is appropriate @@TheAnnoyingBoss

The Rebels just always look so meh to me..... The only one I've seen that looked decent was the 1100. The Scrambler 500 version is somewhat OK But otherwise I am expending effort to make sure my wife does not buy one of these. I'd take a VStar over a Rebel any day.
I cannot find power value for that bike anywhere...
oc yes
I’m 5’6 I want to ride, but it seems like most bikes are catered towards taller individuals.
I own the Rebel 500, you would be fine friend. I am 5' 10" and feel like I am the max height intended for the 500 so you should be good. I would suggest you sit on one before you buy though.
Copy that. Thank you.@@user-bw5pk1ep9z
23:53 you hit the horn on the honda because honda flips the horn and turn single on their bikes
A 6"3 guy would be super UNCOMFORTABLE on this bike i assume?
Yes, you would probably want something taller, I am 5' 10" and I feel like I would be the max height intended for the Rebel 500. As he said in the video it's a comfortable bend for my knees, but I am just on the border of being too tall for the bike. Being lower to the ground does feel cool though. Adds to the chill factor of the bike.
@@user-bw5pk1ep9z is there a cruiser more suited for a tall glass of water such myself?
@@Viking570 I can’t pinpoint a specific model as I’m fairly new to the bike scene, but the rebel seat height is around 28 inches from the ground. So I would shop for something above that range. I would add that the rebel does have a very unique downward slanted seat that kinda makes you “nut ride” the gas tank. So that makes it seem a bit lower as well.
Bro you ride so slow I have the same bike in blue and I get some really good power getting around on highway and street. You change gears so early. Making you sort of slug along I guess. I started on a rebel 300 and would still get decent power. To 500 I felt such a better power it was so dope
you know You've spent too much time on high power super sports and muscle cruisers when a 45 horsepower 500 going on the highway seems like an undoable task to you
This bike is not a cruiser to me. Looks like a sport bike.
I’m only four minutes into your video and I’m sure I will like your review but you pulled into the wrong lane so it’s not the Kia’s fault completely
you don't mention it feels like plastic bike no weight
Btw it doesn’t take 9 seconds to get to 80 from 40 you’re doing it wrong lmao.
It is a silly riding posture for anyone above 5'5. To lower the seat that much but keep mid pegs makes you upright squat....which is extremely fatiguing on 5 hr rides...and even you here look a bit silly.
For a rider under that, it is fine. Even the old rebel needed much more forward controls for the seat.
If they just rebuilt the GL500/silverwing frame ergonomics into their 500cc you'd have a good economic tourer and town commuter bike with proper luggage mounts optional.
Bro.... smh... bitching about the Kia but you didn't pull into your own lane lol thats illegal buddy.
Gay ...im 203cm tall
there are better bikes out there than this bike
This needs a redesign this thing is ugly 😅
What? I think it looks great. to each their own I guess
I couldn’t disagree more but that’s why there is a bike for everyone. I’m not a cruiser guy as I think most look generic and are boring, but this bike looks modern and vintage at the same time. Also isn’t really a true cruiser and rides more like a naked bike.
Needs forward control option
