- This is a look back on Rony Seikaly's career. Rony Seikaly was a big man with a soft touch around the rim scoring via post ups regularly because of great foot work. Coupling with his athleticism to get out and run, dunk, and block shots. While rebounding at a high rate. Going onto star at Syracuse leading the team to the national championship game. Before heading to the NBA becoming the first player to play in the NBA from Lebanon. Defying the odds making out of the war-torn country to become a basketball star. And the first draft pick in Miami Heat's History. Being the team’s first building block and franchise player. Developing quickly to become most improved player. Helping the team have its first winning season and make the playoffs. Then heading to the Warriors then the Magic to star alongside Penny Hardaway. Before ending his career with the Nets dealing with foot injuries.

I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American and male. Even during the Sonics' glory days 1993-97, our biggest weakness was rebounding. Well, Rony Seikaly was a double figure points AND rebounds CENTER (back when centers were important), in his prime. I wanted the Sonics to go get Rony Seikaly after the 1995-96 season. He proved himself by scoring a career high 17 points, and grabbing a very solid 9 rebounds, when he followed Shaquille O'Neal in Orlando, in 1996-97. To the tune of "You're not a kid anymore:" His name's Rony Seikaly! His name's Rony Seikaly! Say it: Ro--------ny Seikaly!!
Rony had a solid career both at Syracuse & the NBA. Talk about an American dream
I have a NETS 2 SEIKALY jersey! Seeing these highlights makes me want to wear that jersey, and do some Rony Seikaly post-up moves!
Thoroughly enjoyed this presentation about an often overlooked and underrated big man. Hands down this guy was in a class all by himself. Forgot how dominant he was on the offensive side of the court.Totally forgot how awesome his monster dunks were, thanks again for the highlights.
Seik Dog was a beast on the boards!!
Big Ron was great
RONY was TOUGH!💯💯💯💯💯 LOVED those Orange teams!!!!
Long time Heat fans love the Seikaly, Rice, Smith era. Great hard working guys who put us on the map as an expansion team.
Big time DJ now
I shared a beer with old Ronnie back in 89. I thought I seen him slip something into my drink. anywho 5 hours later I woke up with a weird pain on my backside! That's the life of basketball🏀
U mean your front.
Glen Rice also notable mentions he was their best shooter in Heat history won a ring with the Lakers in 2000, shame he not in the basketball hall of fame or his number retired in Miami.
Glen Rice is severely underrated. Awesome shooting technique, jumping high, arms stretched, high release. Just beautiful.
I’m very surprised that the Heat haven’t retired Rony Seikaly jersey yet, I figured they would one day cause when Bosh played for the Heat, he wear the number 1 jersey instead of number 4. Also before that, Caron Butler wore number 4.
I was a fan.
Alpie Sengun of the Rockets has a similar skill set just not as strong 💪🏼 as Seikaly, Rony was a Bull in the low post, always good videos can we get Joe Johnson, Steve Smith and Mookie Blaylock!
Great Vid
amazing vids bud . love learning and re-learning about players of yesteryear as a hoop junkie ! keep going man !
Thanks!
Fun fact, shaq use to lift his legs whilst dunking to look like ronny
Seikaly is the third best center in Heat franchise history behind Alonzo Mourning and Shaquille O'Neal. Not just Seikaly could post up, but he could rebound and his career and franchise high with 34 rebounds impress me. I hope you do a video on Junior Bridgeman or Thurl Bailey.
I would counter that by saying Seikaly was actually better as a Heat player than Shaq was with the Heat.
@@StoneGone That's your opinion, but the reason why you rank Seikaly over Shaq as the second best Heat center behind Zo was because Seikaly was in his prime and Shaq was a little past his prime.
@@StoneGone, Makes no sense! Shaq was already past his prime in Miami. It would make sense to Compare the players when they’re both in their primes. 🤫
I remember him being solid
Great video bro!! The highlights, music, and commentary all made a great combination!! Keep it up fam
Can you please do Alex English scored the most points in the 1980s
The spin doctor
Tony Allen or Rony Seikaly next please.
Rony was a really good player I even watched him at Syracuse, crazy story though once a NBA executive said that he wasn’t able to trade for Rony because players on the team didn’t want him to get all the women lol that’s beyond player lol
Can you make vid on AK-47 Andrei Krialenko
❤🇱🇧❤️
Rony's bodies in Miami: 1,000 women
Shaq said he took the 2 knee pull up hang off the rim dunk from Big Sike
And its been his logo on the shoes since day 1
Only available at Walmart since Payless Shoe Source went out of business
That's another thing he stole from a fellow player.
👍
rony is my cousin lmao
Not a good decision, Ron. By not going to the Utah Jazz.
…. FUNNY TITLE!
Wasn't he of Greek origins? Seikalidis I believe was his actual last name.
He is lebanese but lived in Greece for a while before traveling to the states
