The Rev was such a talented guy. He wrote entire songs for the band, did backing vocals and was a badass drummer. Beast And The Harlot next if they progress!

Live at the LBC is one of the best live concert recordings i have seen for any band not just A7X

"The Rev" was his shortened version of "The Reverend Tholomew Plague," which itself is probably the most badass stage name that never got used. A7X's style changed drastically after 2009 due largely in part to his having written, co-vocalized, and established beats for their songs.
"A Little Piece of Heaven" was virtually all him. The running gag for a while was that he was "extra Rev-y" in studio when he wanted to compose a bunch of songs, act squirrelly, or go ham on the set.
The Rev, probably the most under rated Drummer of all time. R.I.P. Jimmy.

That being said. You said you blast the song A Little Piece of Heaven well, you guys must see them preform it Live in LBC too.
He’s a vocalist and he’s also the majority Song Writer!! That’s why he wins hands down
The Rev is a legend & was a beast behind the drum set. Such a talented force to be reckoned with, while he also wrote a lot of their music, sang back up vocals and played piano. He is greatly missed no doubt. This song has always been one of my favorites, just a ton of energy. A7X gives 0 F’s! Great reaction!
M. Shadows (lead singer) played the organ at the start of this video. He also played piano on a number of their songs most significantly “Warmness on the soul” from their first album which is a totally different vibe.
Hope you guys do A7X more regularly now! Such great music all around. All their albums have some crazy bangers.

Great reaction, The Rev was a beast behind the kit. Love them or hate them Avenged Sevenfold knew how to put on a great live performance. This is also why Brann Dailor needed to be in this, highly skilled and also a vocalist. Plus Mastodon is always great to listen to.
R.I.P. The Rev! I have watched the video for “So Far Away” so many times and it still gets me choked up. Can’t help but feel their music. Emotionally and Physically. So excited!!!!
Plus, they’re from real close to where I live now. Wish I could’ve seen a live show while The Rev was still with us.
Another band with a singing drummer is Skillet, the female drummer does the secondary vocals. She's pretty awesome. Also, both Godsmack and Nothing More have main vocalists that also play the drums, though they still have a dedicated drummer too. Nothing More's vocalist plays a custom percussion apparatus live on some songs, while Godsmack has a song where both Sully (the vocalist) and Shannon have a drum battle, aptly called Battala de los Tambores.

I was thinking of Skillet as well...I would say the most famous "singing drummer" may have been Don Henley of The Eagles (IMO)

Two names come to mind for me Don Henley from the Eagles and Levon Helm from The band were both singing drummers.
Also Pete Rivera from Rare Earth and Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater

Atreyu is a must... a band with two vocalist. One being the drummer. Becoming the bull i believe its called is a good intro to this band.

Oh, as far a bands where the lead singer is the drummer, the best example is Monkees with Mickey Dolenz as main kead vocals, but you also have Don Henley in the Eagles who sang most of their hits, Genesis with Phil Collins, Jellyfish (an alternative band that was pretty big), David Grohl still plays drums on at least some songs every album by the Foo Fighters, Roger Taylor of Queen sang on almost as many tracks as Brian May so could be called a co-lead singer, Terry Bozio of the Jeff Beck Group and Zappa's Mothers Of Invention, and can't forget Ringo Starr of the Beatles.
Mike portnoy from dream theater also do vocals in some songs, and he also played for avenged sevenfold’s nightmare album
A big drummer who also did singing is Roger Taylor from queen. And if your looking for a singer/drummer watch the gobsmack drum battle where sully erna the lead singer battles their regular drummer

Another fun fact Jimmy is not the only one who does backup vocals, Syn Gates and Zacky and Johnny can all do back vocals for A7X (just an FYI)
The drummer of Maximum the Hormone also sings! She has done backup vocals pretty much in all their repertoire
If you are a big fan of the rev, highly recommend Beast And The Harlot, Afterlife, Second Heartbeat, or Almost Easy. Any of them you can find those live at the lbc. He does vocals in most of these too

The Eagle's drummer sings on a few of their classic tracks, and Phil Collins plays drums and sings too
Sullivan was a decent drummer but by no way close to the octopus. He got his acclaim from the fans and his band mainly.
Drummers that sing while playing, just a couple, Phil Collins anyone? Brann Dailor from Mastodon? Not something that hasn’t been done before. Better bodies of work imo as well but this song is pretty good.

I got to meet the REV, Nicest guy ever,very kind soul! He signed his signature sticks and gave them to me! (I was DrumTech for the opener,but he was just the most nicest and genuine soul, that Fucking KILLED the 🥁 Drums! Seen 5x’s, but not since the REV passed,it’s just not the same! 😔 foREVer ♾ 🤘
Love this whole album! It's been a bit since I've really listened to Avenged Sevenfold but this made me go back and relisten to them and that was definitely what I needed today. Thank you!
A few of my favorites that I suggest you listen to are "Unholy Confessions", "Crossroads", and "Brompton Cocktail" if/when you get a chance. 😊🤘

In The Motherload, Brann Dailor actually sings most of the vocals. He is in-fact lead on that song
"Afterlife" from AX7 is a grate example of how "The REV" played.
The vocalist came up with the main riff to this song. He then showed it to their guitar player and he laid it down in studio but yes he plays multiple instruments. Drums, guitars and piano mainly.

The Rev was *just* The Rev, not short for anything. Skillet is a band where the drummer does vocals, and there's another band called Cowboy Mouth whose drummer is the lead singer, check out Jenny Says, a big hit of theirs from the 90s.

Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) has been known to sing lead and play drums when they do covers at their live shows. He also sings back up. Dave Grohl can do both as well.
Also Rare Earth had a singing drummer. Have you heard Get Ready?

The running joke about the octopus is because of the odd drumming he does in their song Almost Easy where he does something he called the double-ride-thingy, lol. There's a clip of him playing it in the studio.

Checkout some Underoath or some Atreyu. They're both singing drummers who sound really good
The Rev was also the lead singer for the band pinkly smooth who he did with Synyster Gates the lead guitar for A7X. M Shadow's does play piano on some songs,but can also play guitar and drum's. When they started he actually wanted to do guitar and not vocals. This band is extremely talented as they are all top notch. To really get a jist of the Revs drumming ability check out him laying down the drum track for almost easy . He's super relaxed and looking forward at the camera while killing the drum's. They called him mister one take as he did his tracks first take .

Got my ticket for next year. It was supposed to be for SOAD but after being cancelled twice due to some pandemic, A7X will replace them. Looking foward to it!

Hey guys! The band atreyu has a drummer that does the clean vocals. " Becoming the bull" is my suggestion.
Only other bands I can think of with vocal drummers are Atreyu (their current singer used to do it while drumming) and I think basically everyone in the band Mastodon sings. The Rev has such a great voice and pitch though

Hey you love a little piece of heaven... go back and listen again you can hear his vocals on it too. Super talented. RIP 🙏 Rev. Also Aaron Gillespie is a vocalist drummer... I dont know much about underoath and I would like to look into them more, but Brandon Saller is super talented drummer vocalist for Atreyu, now lead vocals and new drummer. Not a fan of new Atreyu unfortunately but back in the day with Alex as lead vocals and Brandon on the drums with some of the cleanest vocals 👌 🙌. Look up super hero from atreyu. Its somewhat new and has Shadows from A7X and both drummer vocalists I just mentioned.
RIP the Rev love him so much and such a talented guy…drummer from Queen does vocals of course but also Skillet drummer sings check out “Awake and Alive” but also check out some of A7X older songs like “Unholy Confessions “ and “Second Heartbeat “.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this in the comments, but I would honesty say the most famous "singing drummer" of all time IMO IS Don Henley of The Eagles...which is a legendary band u may want to explore. Reactors usually go to, and stop at, Hotel California...but they actually have a MASSIVE collection of hits n great songs.

Off the top of my head, Underoath, Brutus, Mastodon and Atreyu all have drummers that do vocals. Brutus is a 3 piece and the drummer is the only vocalist.
Phil Collins and Glen Frey are drummers/lead singers. Phil was with Genesis and Glen was with the Eagles.
If you like drummers who can sing while playing, check out bands Underoath and If I were you. Both those bands have drummers who sing really good.
