Because the controller is bad and it was a ps3 level system while the ps4 was out and fans constantly complained, plus the sales figures were horrible, they did great with use of it but it was losing them money
The wiiu is very underrated. People say it didn’t sell well because of its games, but they can’t explain why over half its games got ported to the switch
Of course you should if you’re a Nintendo fan. It was their last true console. A labour of love. A gem that the simple masses don’t appreciate yet for what it is. The switch is the response to giving the masses what they want. It’s a great console but it’s not Nintendo doing whatever they want with creative vision. It may as well be an Xbox or PlayStation.
Yes, yes you should. The Wii U was a phenomenal console. It’s poor sales didn’t make it bad, that was only because of marketing. The Wii U is a phenomenal console with so much life and color. The little things matter, the home menu abstract noises, notion on the home menu’s background, eShop music, folders etc the Wii U had great games and not all of them are on the switch yet. Besides the switch is kind of a dumpster fire. The home menu is a still and silent image. The eshop had no music and all the menus are laggy messes. We now pay $60 for games that are unfinished, there no life and color, and it’s missing so annoy features. On top of great games the Wii U had Miiverse, a social media, Wii U Chat where you could face time family and friends, TVii where you could watch streaming services and the switch doesn’t even have Netflix. It’s just sad people are giving the console a bad rep.
I believe you should. It's able to play original Wii titles like Wii Sports and Mario Kart Wii. Plus it is very worth it if you homebrew it. There are many applications you can get with homebrew, and you can download any game onto an SD card or USB and play it off of homebrew apps. Did I also mention it has Virtual Console titles as well?
I would recommend it for the experience, multiplayer, exclusive games and features, and the fact that it’s 75% portable. Though, the game selection isn’t as great compared to the Nintendo Switch and Wii.
If you plan on getting a Wii U to play some solo and local multiplayer games like Nintendo Land, I would get one, and you can always home brew it too and just mod a bunch of games from consoles such as NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, DS, Wii, Game boy and GBA. The Wii U is very good for playing a bunch of oldish/retro games since they can all be modded onto it and the gamepad is a nice controller to play those games with, I forgot you can also mod Wii U games so you don’t necessarily have to have the game to play it. But there are a few negatives with Wii U in 2023-2024. Not many people play online nowadays, and new Wii U users cannot play online or access anything online such as Mario Makers Course World, which sucks, but for me at least those are the only 2 negatives I found with the Wii U, I recommend getting one before April 2024 so you can home brew it, you need online/ internet services to home brew the Wii U, and those are being discontinued in April.
I would, i had a Wii U but it was broken. I still have the games that i played and i would love to re-experience my childhood. Also, it's backwards compatible with the Wii games
Th only reason I would buy a WiiU is to play most of the games on the WiiU Games like Super Smash Bros Wii U Mario Kart 8 Mario Party 10 New Super Mario Bros U New Super Luigi U Super Mario Maker And other more cool games
No the switch is literally just the Wii U but slightly better I’m tired of ppl acting like they love retro consoles but literally I only bought them so I can play old licensed games I love that never got ported like simpsons and jaws unleashed bc other than those types of games there is nothing else that hasn’t had 15 remasters aside from a few
Nah I think it is still worth it now because when you hack it not only can you get miiverse back, but you can also get loads of games for free + a thing called pretendo network which brings back online access for games such as splatoon and mario kart 8. I feel like the only reason it sold bad was because of the name, lots of people thought it was just an add-on for the wii therefore it confused a lot of people.
yes you should, you can mod it and put custom themes, ALSO it has a virtual wii so basically a wii inside of the wii u, which means u can play wii u and wii games, or u can sail the high seas and use wii u usb helper
YES. YES you should. There are SO many home brew options that allow for unique customization and ability to play older games. Not hard to hack, and quite fun to play games like Luigi’s Mansion and Wind Waker in their original 480p glory (or updated visuals, if you can mod the roms used.) It’s a blast and allows for all sorts of emulation fun while the Nintendo Switch remains underwhelming in the legacy content department
You’re wrong if you modify it, you can get all of the previous Nintendo consoles on it. You can get PlayStation one and two and maybe a little bit of PS3 games. You can also get Xbox and a little bit of Xbox 360 games. Highly recommend the console if you mod it and you’ll get the entire library of the Nintendo Wii U games all for free
as someone who has owned a wiiU around when it first came out ( to be honest I had either 2 or 3 wiiUs but I only have the one RN. yea I know ) I would agree only because of the games being on the switch or somthing else UNLESS you mod it witch I have not done yet
I really miss Miiverse it wasn’t perfect but still beats being limited to Facebook or Twitter because every single Nintendo Wii U owner with a NNID could access it and share their opinions on game. It wasn’t hard at all to find people to play with because everybody currently playing said game would be put in it’s community page and unlike Facebook and Twitter there was only one community per game.
Still got my WiiU with Metroid Prime Trilogy, Wind Waker & Twilight Princess HD and other games not on Switch. Also still have Wii, GameCube and N64, all still plugged in and ready to play, except Gamecube which I put back in its box years ago, but could plug back in anytime if I wanted to play original RE1 Remake, Metroid Prime1 (UK/European difficulty), RE4, Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, etc
Dang it, Zack. You really dropped the ball there. Nintendo did port many of the Wii U's games to the Switch such as Pikmin 3 and Mario Kart 8, but many games like the first Splatoon are stuck on it.

I did, white, then hacked it to bits and it runs EVERYTHING
I would, i had a Wii U but it was broken. I still have the games that i played and i would love to re-experience my childhood. Also, it's backwards compatible with the Wii games
YES. It doesn't require installs, and the whole game comes on the disc.
Th only reason I would buy a WiiU is to play most of the games on the WiiU
Games like
Super Smash Bros Wii U
Mario Kart 8
Mario Party 10
New Super Mario Bros U
New Super Luigi U
Super Mario Maker
And other more cool games
No the switch is literally just the Wii U but slightly better I’m tired of ppl acting like they love retro consoles but literally I only bought them so I can play old licensed games I love that never got ported like simpsons and jaws unleashed bc other than those types of games there is nothing else that hasn’t had 15 remasters aside from a few
Nah I think it is still worth it now because when you hack it not only can you get miiverse back, but you can also get loads of games for free + a thing called pretendo network which brings back online access for games such as splatoon and mario kart 8. I feel like the only reason it sold bad was because of the name, lots of people thought it was just an add-on for the wii therefore it confused a lot of people.
also nonexistent 3rd party support
Honestly its a upgrade to my sadly broken wii that my brother had since i think 2007?
I have a switch now, and rarely I go back and just play on my gamepad, which I have to charge first because it’s always dead.
You know you can jailbreak it, right?
I mean yes if your newer and don’t wanna get the switch immediately
yes you should, you can mod it and put custom themes, ALSO it has a virtual wii so basically a wii inside of the wii u, which means u can play wii u and wii games, or u can sail the high seas and use wii u usb helper
You can mod it and there’s software to bring stuff back
The wii u is an amazing console
You’re wrong if you modify it, you can get all of the previous Nintendo consoles on it. You can get PlayStation one and two and maybe a little bit of PS3 games. You can also get Xbox and a little bit of Xbox 360 games. Highly recommend the console if you mod it and you’ll get the entire library of the Nintendo Wii U games all for free
Love that flat answer at the end… haha
as someone who has owned a wiiU around when it first came out ( to be honest I had either 2 or 3 wiiUs but I only have the one RN. yea I know ) I would agree only because of the games being on the switch or somthing else UNLESS you mod it witch I have not done yet
Tiramisu: am I a joke to you?
aroma: haha yes. (just a joke)
Just Scott the Woz
Still got my WiiU with Metroid Prime Trilogy, Wind Waker & Twilight Princess HD and other games not on Switch. Also still have Wii, GameCube and N64, all still plugged in and ready to play, except Gamecube which I put back in its box years ago, but could plug back in anytime if I wanted to play original RE1 Remake, Metroid Prime1 (UK/European difficulty), RE4, Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, etc
THE WII U HAD IT OWN DESIGN AND BEAUTIFUL HOME SCREEN AND IF YOU MOD IT YOU CAN PLAY EVERY GAME YOU WANT AND ON ON 1080p GRAPHICS
Considering buying one just so I can play older gamecube and wii exclusive titles, Twilight Princess and Windwaker HD.
Lol of course there’s Scott with all his NA Wii u games
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂i laughing on the floor when he showed up
One of my favorite game consoles. I can't beleive the eshops closing soon...
Dang it, Zack. You really dropped the ball there. Nintendo did port many of the Wii U's games to the Switch such as Pikmin 3 and Mario Kart 8, but many games like the first Splatoon are stuck on it.
It's really upsetting how much potential this console had with its great ui and features but lacked on great titles at the end of this lifetime
Bro i loved this console infact your pikmin 3 series i played on the wii u best console of my memories
I homebrewed mine and it was totally worth it. All the Wii, GameCube, and Wii U games for free
I'm new to the Wii u. What is homebrew. ..?
@@jenniferfrady2483 it’s like jailbreaking a phone but for Wii U. You can get all games for free and there’s other cool things you can do too. It takes some time and a computer to set up but it’s worth it if you can
