By far my favorite video on You Tube. At least 100 of these views are mine. Just blown away. Perfect delta blues voice--slide guitar--Blind Willie...the perfect trifecta. Thanks for sharing, Martin!
Nice rendition! It's got to be tough to play this tune. You can play and sing it! I like that Blind Willie played his music to the glory of God and not in some juke joint.
Thank you for this. It breathes new life into the works of a great artist. I hope others, like myself, find your covers of Blind Willie Johnson and then seek out the work of an under-appreciated man. Fyi, your covers are right with the originals in my work playlists. Again. Thank you.
I really admire your skill and these video's really help me to practice these amazingly groovy and complex songs. You make it look so easy and I understand it is because of your years of dedication to the music. I regularly play songs from your album in my DJ sets in our local music venue (VERA Groningen), and I really hope you can come play there some day!
I just bought this Honey Dipper because of your sweet video and playin'.....I've got a lot to learn, but can't wait to dive in to Delta Blues...thanks for posting Martin. You nailed this song, dude.....
Martin Swamps Cheers! I'll get working. I've been learning a few Fred mcdowell tunes in open e (the lives ones where you can see his hands clearly). I Struggle to get he BWJ tunes sounding right in D but i must be too quick to try something different!
McDowell was another great guitarist. His playing was more rythmic, like Son House you know? He sang over really cool rythmic patterns. BWJ actually made his guitar sing! He sang what he played (or played what he sang!) With a lot of "ghost notes" and subtlety. He was the master! Keep on working man! Keep the blues alive! Cheers!

Please do a how to vid? nobody has one for blind willies version!!!
Yeah, people are scared of this one haha!
How do you know the devil tuned his guitar?
He doesn’t clip the excess
Friend, what tuning do you use? I want to learn it, and you're the first person I've seen who can play the song the way it sounds on the album.
Hi mate what tuning are you in? Phenomenal work well done.
Lewis Kerr Thank you sir! I LOVE Blind Willie Johnson. He was so unique! He was almost always tuned in Open D.
Martin Swamps Cheers! I'll get working.

Just a passerby came to say very impressive, only thing missing is the poket knife Willie used instead of a slide.
Next time let's hear ur version.
Some say he played with a pocket knife, no one is sure about that. The most important thing to get his feel: a Wooden Guitar!
Thanks anyway!
This is absolutely incredible!! What tuning are you in? Open D?
Open D it is
