I just replaced mine with a Dorman rag joint shaft. The hardest part was getting the top bolt out since someone used an impact and rounded the bolt! I used an Irwin bolt extractor, replaced the bolt and nut, then pushed the boot on the new shaft back far enough to go up into the column. I broke the plastic collar off since I did not push it down far enough to clear the frame. Oh well, it works great! No more steering wheel slip!

Good video. I totally over looked that on my 98 gmc Yukon. I replaced the tie rods, pitman arm, idler arm, sway bar links and still have sloppy steering. I am going to order this part right now. Thanks man

Some of these gear boxes have an alignment pin.
I used a Dremel and cut it off.
    fit percent after modification.
    For anyone that’s wondering .

Cunningham Machine site says that if you have the aftermarket Dorman upper…this lower won’t fit without modifications. I have the Dorman upper and interested in knowing what modifications need to be done for this lower to fit and work properly? Thx!

Maybe instead of showing 2 minutes of spraying and wiping a plastic part that wasn’t even used in the end you could have used that time to actually report on how much this improved the steering performance.

How did you get it to slide all the way on the steering box shaft? Does your steering gear box have the alignment pin on the end of the shaft?
